Today is game 1 of a big run of fixtures this month that could go a long way to deciding the fate of this beleaguered club.

We have 3 home games and 1 away. We simply have to win at least 2 of them, and maybe pick up a point from another. If we don’t we’ll be as good as down by the end of the month.
We are the worst team in the football league, but quite a few of our fans seem to think we’re too good to go down. (I don’t)
Time to step up, time to turn words into actions.

In today's local paper, Williamson urges us to "trust the process". He also states it will go right to the wire.
Three home games this month, personally I would take 4 or 5 points from these all day long.

For me we need 7 points min from the 4 remaining games of the year. It’s not realistic to expect all of Tranmere, Colchester, Accrington etc to lose every single remaining game of 2024. So we’ll need at least 7 points to stay in touch with the little cluster above, ahead of that massive game at Tranmere on 4th Jan.

I’d probably take a point today but we’d need to win the relegation 6 pointers.

We really need to be beating teams just above us and we have 3 of those games in our next 6. Imagine if we were to beat all 3 of Morecambe, Accrington and Tranmere, but at the same time imagine if we were to lose all 3. It’s such an important pivotal period in our season.

You only have to be better than 2 other sides it doesn’t matter if the rest surge away just you have less to catch.

It certainly looks like ourselves morecambe and Swindon will battle it out then maybe another who collapses………doubt any will gain much between now and January it’s what they do then which matters

****ing shite!

As soon as I saw our starting lineup I knew there was no chance we wouldn’t lose.

That’s it, we’re down.

That should be a reality check for a lot of our fans that didn’t think this team is the worst in the football league.

What concerned me most about today more than the actual defeat which I fully expected, is the way the manager has took everything we’ve been doing well of late and completely ripped it up.

Why on earth would you change both wing backs, putting Sadi a left footed attacker on the right wing back and the right footed Burey on the left wing back after he’d been doing ok on the right. Then replace Sadi in the 10 role with fucking Vela!! And then to drop Guy… honestly, it’s really concerning that he thinks he’s clever enough to fuck about with it like this.

That’s on the manager today. 100%. He’d better learn fast from that mistake or we’ll be as good as relegated before the transfer window even opens.

I can understand his logic of putting Guy on the bench, not wanting to overwork him with the amount of games over Xmas and him just coming back from a long term injury.
But Burey on the left was baffling.
Haydens mistake leading to their second goal was a shocker.
At the end of the day, today was disappointing.
But...I'm not a Radio Cumbria anonymous bedwetter. If we'd won I wouldn't be claiming play off ambitions and I'm not shouting about inevitable relegation cos we lost.

Yeah same (kind of). If we’d won I wouldn’t be getting carried away with talk of shooting up the table, and this defeat isn’t causing me to think we’re going down. I’ve thought that for a long time anyway.

Ok if that’s the reason for dropping Guy, but he’s just had 2 weeks without a game. Maybe next weekend would have been the time to rest him, a game we’ll likely lose anyway, 4 days before the first of 2 must win home games. But if he had to rest him today for whatever reason, put Mcgeouch or whoever in, but keep the rest of the team same. The new found solid at the back foundation we’d built over the last few games went totally out the window with all the other changes. To move Sadi who has been one of our bright sparks in the 10 role recently to right wing back left me utterly bewildered. Then poor Tyler Burey who had just adapted to a new position gets shoved on the other side. He looked totally out of his depth there. Really poor management.

I don’t have much faith in Williamson I have to say. He’s one of these coaches who thinks he’s a lot cleverer than he is. Him trying to be too clever and cocky cost us any chance of getting a result today. Not what we need when we’re bottom of the football league. His record over his 3 months so far speaks volumes, he isn’t the man to turn things around.

Come on, you know we’re going to stay up since turning a corner as we are now harder to beat.
Yes we need to turn these draws into wins but just look at our players compared to the teams around us who have zero quality at all.

So just lift your chin up mate and stop fretting over something that’s not going to happen.

Yeah this chopping and changing based on a single result is mad.

If you think we’ll stay up, one defeat shouldn’t suddenly change that.

And if like me you think we’re going down, one win won’t make me suddenly change that.

Promotion is the aim this season! The recruitment has been great! We want to play fun football! Championship in 5 years!

You’ve got to love our owner’s naivety.

Thought the comment that Paul Newton and Chris Lumsdon made last night about not hearing from your new DoF was interesting. I've seen a fair bit of criticism towards your owners, surely they must have plenty of credit left in the bank given what they've done off the field but is that starting to wane?

Our owners are completely naive about English football and whoever advises them are just as clueless.

Not sacking Simpson last season and then going for the wrong type of manager in Williamson for our position and after getting hoodwinked by MK Dons football director is what has well and truly screwed us.

So much money wasted by our club this year by Simpson on shit past their best players who are on big ridiculous contracts and compensation spent for a manager who was unwanted by another L2 club.

Yeah so what was supposed to be a good turn around in fortunes for our club in getting wealthy American owners has been nothing but a disaster.

The owners have invested a fortune on and off the pitch. I don’t think many if any fans are against them. What they’ve achieved off the pitch has been phenomenal in such a short time.

But on the pitch has been an absolute shit show, there’s no other way of describing it. They’ve made mistake after mistake, wasted a fortune yet haven’t got a single thing right. It’s going to be back to back relegations and it’s largely on their bad decisions.

I just hope that next season in the Conference they realise the severity of being down there, get the right people making decisions and invest the required amount of money to get us back. I feel under these owners once the tide does eventually turn we will go from strength to strength.

It’s allright January will save us, if it doesn’t then the summer will make us strong enough for an immediate return back to L2 and if that does not work and we are struggling at the bottom of the NL then it’s ok because January 2026 will save us, if not then summer 2026 will see us invest enough to get us out of the National League North, however if that doesn’t work then not to worry because January 2027 will save us and so on..

Williamson must surely have something there. He did well at Gateshead and did well enough at mk dons and there is a vast difference in styles and approaches you adapt in conference north to league two.

Come north I watch every other week it’s about battling, scrapping, digging in, teamwork and good counter.

League two is more pace, skill, possession etc

To adapt his style well to 2 clubs in different leagues with totally different types of opponents……he surely has something there??

But I never like managers who switch from basics to plonking square shapes in round holes ‘just because’

I can let off for injuries and suspensions and no options but to try, but hate it when managers just whack someone in wrong positions for no real reason……made worse Saturday when you could argue for last few weeks we maybe were not winning but at least we’re improving with a set up that he then decided to twist on.

Maybe his skill hopefully is quality of player he brings in

Lancs Junior Cup today:
Carlisle 0 - 8 Morecambe.
Wouldn't be a surprise if this causes riots in Botchergate.

It's really starting to be obvious that our best result of the season has already been decided with over half of the season left to play... the 3-0 win against Carlisle in August is becoming a standout.

That game conned the owners into believing MW was incredible and our entire model was the one to copy, and with our own new owners we could afford to convince Sweeting to stay whereas beforehand we wouldn't have had the budget to do so. But still managing to get a very healthy fee for a struggling manager which more than covered the compensation for Lindsey is a masterstroke.

Oh fuck off
You don’t need to kick us even more while we’re down.

You can tell you boys have never suffered real struggle and grim times supporting your team. Talk about rubbing salt in our wounds

I'm sure Mr Sweeting will be given a very Cumbrian welcome should he choose to walk the gauntlet later this season.

Oi, we finished in our worst ever football league position last season (the lowly status of 4th in League Two equalled only by us matching that position in 06/07) and are currently in our second consecutive season in L2 so this is a true rough patch for us.

It was a good sneaky move by Sweeting in all honesty and as much as I’d love to hate him I can’t so I applaud him for that instead as it’s our owners who are to blame for being so incompetent to fall for such a trick and deserved to be conned.

I don't even think it's that sneaky.

Our fans have a bit of a mixed relationship with him and a fair few blame him most of all for our relegation in 2023 where he tried to resign afterwards and was turned down, so a new opportunity probably wouldn't be unwelcomed for him.

But what we do have now is supposedly mega rich owners that can afford to keep him in a time where stability was the golden ticket (new owners, and what was looking increasingly likely to be a new manager very soon in the space of 2 months) whereas before under Pete, we'd have taken the money and replaced for less. All he's done is been given further trust by the new ownership and what presumably is a decent pay rise without any need to relocate and uproot his life.
