I don’t at all blame the owners for backing him in January nor do I blame them for sacking him today even if both are madness.

The reality is Williamson could in effect same to them in December…….look the team is the problem, the players are awful, give me my players and it will turn around……the did what nearly no other owners in this league would do and backed him like crazy in January.

And even the fans who hated him after Morecambe game……gave him another go, gave him a break and breather for the Crewe, Bradford and notts defeats because it looked a bit better.

But the toxic atmosphere came back to full effect Saturday, and nearly all of us have seen our sides relegated to non league before and last thing you need is a toxic atmosphere, zero morale, limited hope and absolute non existent unity heading to what is a league full of hard battlers and scrappers who may not have e the quality but make up for it in other ways.

We sit here a month later unable to score leaking goals and still angering the fanbase…….it wasn’t turning around ever.

Now like FGR last season we have a few months to plan for next year

Money, managers will go anywhere for money and one thing shown in last 18 months is they would let him bring an entire new squad in if he wanted it. Plus most of these players are supposedly not bad we are meant to have better squad than many here a manager may see a useful squad.

Adam’s for me is a better fit for our current situation or a Steve Evan’s but we won’t get him at present, need an old hand able to just get the basics from this squad and know how to work best with them, Everett seems a firebrand who may do the opposite

I'm glad Williamson is finally gone, absolute fraud of a head coach, but he should never have been appointed in the first place and yeah should have been sacked a lot earlier. If only our owners had listened to MK Dons fans at how shit he was.

We're the absolute laughing stock of the football league right now and deservedly so.

There's a lot of deadwood that needs clearing out at our club which the new owners should have done when they first took over, can only hope they finally make a right decision in appointing our next manager otherwise it's God knows how long in the non-league for us..

I warn everyone, but nobody listens...

Best business of the season was us getting a compensation fee for MW.

The Carlisle job is a great one for a manager currently, you can come in demand just an end of season contract, if you keep them up you have e either a huge summer budget or better alternatives and if you go down you can easily say damage was done and reputation isn’t damaged.

Just get some dinosaur type manager on a short term deal who will get you doing the basics, long ball and show a bit of aggression and running that will take you a long way. Foolish to try and walk before you can run with focusing on playing style. Certainly not over for Carlisle by a long shot.

I’m not really sure how Williamson’s spot was any less tenable now than it was 4 weeks ago - just an all round terrible season.

As most say though, a dinosaur in to scrap until the end of the season and then worry about the mess you’ve created for yourselves in the summer later

A new voice and a bit of fighting spirit injected into the team with a never say die attitude is what could make the difference.

Williamson gave the team none of that.

On the face of it for non Carlisle fans this looks daft. But most of us have been there - when things turn ugly amongst the fanbase the writing is on the wall.

Some strong parallels with our 2017/18 season with the probable consecutive relegations and burning through gaffers. Feels like I'm having flashbacks. At least the owners are still interested!

It’s not as such a dinosaur playing long ball I’m needing at present it’s just someone about more experienced who will use common sense to it.

Williamson. Biggest issue was his stubbornness, we have tried 3 centre backs now for 18 months and it hasn’t worked…..just try four at the back.

We have wingers as wingbacks, defenders go to midfield, wingers play in the centre, strikers play behind the striker etc etc

Because it had to play a certain way and if it didn’t work we just kept playing it but badly and accept.

its a club needing CONFIDENCE, needs some 30 odd out of form players to be encouraged to get back to some semblance of form.

What it didn’t need was a manager who forced badly low morale out of form players on zero confidence to be forced to play a style they couldn’t which decimated morale and unity at the club.

And his ONLY answer wasn’t to manage the players but to bring an entire new side in because he couldn’t manage the players…..the he still faffs around playing certain tropes that had his fanbase angry at him before thinking he’d magically make it better when all it did again was anger the fanbase.

Need someone who just goes basic for now, play the players where they want to play, play the style, encourage without the arrogance

Mate Charlie Wyke has been out injured since around October with a fractured ankle and may not even be back until the end of the season.

Has barely played for us since resigning and he's not our captain anymore. In the few games he did play he was slow, unfit and way off it.

I think it has to be Leam Richardson. Has a really good relationship with your club captain. Maybe even have Wyke as his assistant, if Richardson doesn't have his own guy. I'm not sure if Wyke is needed as a player. He couldn't really be on both sides. Maybe Wyke is the problem from a club culture side, but i doubt it.

It's a crisis. You need someone who can find out what's wrong and fix it.

Will Richardson want it though? It is a bit of a poisoned chalice given the probability of relegation no matter who comes in.

Although Richardson is probably the favourite he didn't do a great job for Rotherham last season. Admittedly, Rotherham were in an even worse position than Carlisle are now at the time

I just don’t see this as being true. Someone like Evatt or Richardson would have their reputations significantly damaged in terms of what their next job might be if they took the Carlisle job until the end of the season and went down.

Yeh I'd be surprised if Evo or LR gave this one a serious look given where their stock is currently.

Conversely though, the prospect of the glory of potentially keeping Carlisle up from this position would definitely appeal to some madman out there. I can't help feeling it will be a rookie or someone well past their sell by though.
