Hopefully the fans can remain united, the risk with people like Dale is that even after they've gone, the bad feeling they left remains. When Scarborough went to the wall their fans were divided on what the best course of action was and ended up with two competing phoenix clubs, although one has since folded; a similar thing happened to Northwich Victoria. Are Bury fans split on the old club v new?
Which one will most back? If Dale goes and the old club survives, surely that renders the phoenix pointless? Or will they crack on?
What if the old club survives under Dale? Would people still go watch the phoenix instead?
Sounds like it is messy to the least. Apologies if a daft question..
These things can turn fans against one another. I hope Blackpool fans have been able to mend their divisions but during Oyston's ownership there was a lot of bitterness with some going so far as to suggest that if the club were to come under fan ownership they could look at the ticket records for names of anyone who purchased tickets during Oyston's ownership and start handing out lifetime bans.
