He's just not Eoin Morgan anymore. Where's the variation in his game, moving the field with the sweeps and reverse sweeps and flicking it past fine leg? He just seems to want to only hit anything with width that he can aim a mistimed swat at through the offside.
I think the sense of responsibility plays a part in this, being Captain he's out to set the example, and get the team going. (not that he's been doing it lately)

I disagree with it although, Morgan should have the freedom to go out there and bring out all the shots in the book as he did in the past, it was certainly more effective.

That spinner named Haq has one of the worst bowling actions I've ever seen.

He almost bowls it so slow it's hard to get enough pace on the ball to get it over the boundary..

Good piece of wicket keeping that, initial reactions he looked out.

Fancied Taylor and Morgan to finish well there. Set up perfectly for Buttler, if he can't come in and go big for the last 5 overs against Scotland then when can he.

Now imagine if you will if Morgan had come in instead of Root or Ballance like he should have.

Disappointing that Buttler didn't clear the rope once there despite getting settled. Most explosive player in England apparently. Yet to see it apart from one innings.

The 3 infront of our score should not mislead anybody who didn't watch. This was a dire innings aside from Ali, with poor tempo, poor mentality and the same old setup/negativity from a pathetic batting line up and coaching team. Clueless wankers who will be found out against any test playing nation in this tournament.

What a shite last over, barely crept over 300.

Didn't take advantage of the position we were in.

Oh dear.

Just realised I stayed in the same halls at Uni as Scotland's wicketkeeper. I've only just looked at their team. Nice one Matt.

Part of me hopes they win by 10 wickets. Even if we win here it just means watching another painful performance against a better team. I hate this generation of ODI England cricketers and the entire one day setup. Test cricket it's fine, we have a young side with a decent mix of batsmen.

We are years from a decent ODI side.

Part of me wishes I stayed up to watch the second innings, part of me says work would of been too painful..

Watched England's innings before going to bed last night and even though we made 300, it wasn't good was it? Didn't understand Taylor being so far down the order (Well I did, we still play 50 over games like they're test matches, you only need to look at Bell for that). Still disappointing but at least we won.

2nd innings was better than the 1st, but that's always the way. Our batting in all forms has been abysmal for 2 years. Peter fucking Moores is a joke, why the fuck was he appointed??

Very, very underwhelming performance. Ballance, Root, Bell, Broad can all depart for me. Not convinced by Root. Hales, Vince, Bopara, Tredwell in for me.

Mainly because Andy Flower really likes him. But also because he was sacked over something that wasn't really his fault last time, but in the few months he had in the job, he brought back Anderson and Prior and brought in Flower, Swann and Broad who went on to be kind successful. Also, he did miraculous work with Sussex and was mainly really good at Lancashire. Like him or not, the reasons for his appointment are pretty obvious. I'd be careful about blaming him for too many of England's problems at the moment too. I don't understand how they can bring Ballance in after he's not played a game for months and expect him to be an instant success at 3 though.

It's pretty unanimous though, that 90% of the squad hated playing under him the first time round with his ridiculous training regimes and countless team meetings. He's more of a slave driver than a coach.

I don't know where you get that 90% thing from, everything I've heard suggests that most of the squad, particularly the younger ones were fairly happy. I think the feeling was that he did too much coaching, if anything. Also, he's very different now.

Ian Bell is making me look like a chump, and I'm not happy about it!

I defended Bell's inclusion earlier on in the tournament, but I have to admit his innings last night wasn't good at all. Ian Bell at his best is still a great option to have, but I can't help but think a serious batting order shake-up would do us some good moving forward. #

I'm still not convinced by Moeen Ali either. This might seem like a weird thing to say after he made a century in the previous game, but that was against Scotland after all. I just feel that with Ali, for every good innings there are two bad ones. And in terms of bowling, I'd take Tredwell over Ali every day of the week.

The only modern ODI player England have at the top of the order, he's one of the only glimmer of lights in this poor, poor England ODI game.

If anyone has 50 minutes to spare, I would strongly recommend listening to the latest Geek and Friends podcast (episode 79, I think). George Dobell (who I usually agree with anyway) is excellent about the depressing state of English cricket. A really good listen.

WOW. Chris Gayle is an awesome batsman. If only we had someone remotely as god and attacking as him!:(

Only player in world cricket with a T20 100, ODI 200 and Test 300. He's quite incredible really, a complete powerhouse with no footwork yet an effective player in every form of the game. That's how you bat yourself back into form.

I'm assuming your talking about Moeen as opposed to Bell. I can appreciate he has the potential but he's just not shown enough consistency to convince me that he's our opening ODI batsmen for the foreseeable future.

However, with this current team, someone who is inconsistently good is better than most of the other available options.

You can't have it both ways with ODI batsmen though, particularly openers. If you want an explosive, attacking one, you have to accept that it won't come off every time. When it's worked for Mooen , it's worked spectacularly and I don't see who would bat as well anything like as often. He'll only get better as well, unless England coach all attacking flair out of him. Which is probably quite likely.
