Not many sides could go from 82-6 to that, especially with 2 wickets to spare. Woakes' role was superb but I think that's the least impressive 90+ score I've seen at a strike rate 100+, he struggled to hit it out the circle all night. Fair play though, fantastic match.

If the selectors are looking round the county circuit for people putting their hands up you'd probably have to look at Borthwick and Hildreth, just worried England will go back to Bell or Trott to fill the role, Trott's hit a similar amount of runs to Hildy and Borthwick so they may see him as a stop gap, but hopefully they go for one of the other two. Root may be moving up to 3.

Even if he hadn't they wouldn't be replacing one slow scoring number 3 with mental demons with another.

Looking ahead to the winter I would be very surprised if they didn't give the slot to Borthwick.

Scott Borthwick is currently next in line according to these measures, the best current performer according to the same measure is Jonny Bairstow.

This Sri Lanka side is going to be shite for years now which is a weird thing considering I'm 23 so all I've ever known with them is Jayawardene, Sanga, Malinga, Murali, Dilshan, Jayasuriya, Vaas, Kulasekara. #GoldenGeneration

Pakistan's pace attack will be a bit of a better challenge I feel before the real 5 month long litmus test in the subcontinent. England's 2017 is outrageous really, it'll either be a year we're crowned as the real deal or this new team will get exposed as 'frauds' or something - it just doesn't feel like there will be any middle-ground with this side.

Sri Lanka have offered no sort of challenge in either format that we have played so far but still good to see an England side dispatching teams like this in convincing style. Pakistan should certainly offer a sterner test of our current credentials in all 3 formats although I would certainly expect us to triumph in the test series
