Interesting they brought out Woakes before Moeen. Suspect it’s to keep the right and left combo at the crease but either way it’s not a ringing endorsement of their faith in Moeen. Just got to try and take it deep and see what happens. Still far from impossible.

Would also bring in Plunkett for Moeen, let’s be honest we are losing nothing in the batting and Root can do a decent enough second spinner job.

Plunkett should be playing instead of wood I think personally anyway and if Roy remains injured he should come in for Vince, root got a hundred opening against the windies so maybe just move them all up a place like that. Ideally and I mean really ideally we need Roy back. Moeens batting is pathetic and if hes not getting many wickets he becomes a waste of time.

I don't think Sri Lanka are a particularly great team. They're just as capable of losing any of their 3 remaining games as they are of winning them. If they win all 3 then fair bloody play to them, they'll deserve 4th. I sense that they'll win 1 though; possibly 2 although it'd take a big haul for them to overtake our run rate if we're both on 10 points.

Absolutely, I wasn’t being completely series. More just making the point that an injured Roy will contribute more than Vince.

I’d definitely have Root opening, bring Plunkett in for Ali and move everyone down one. Ali won’t trouble the Indians with the ball either so might aswell sit him out.
