Feels like a couple of missed opportunities over the last two home games, particularly off the back of the Vale game, albeit injuries have hit, which annoyingly seem to be impact ones rather than muscle ones. Then we lose Eardley last night, too.

Unlike us to be so sloppy defensively (not seen the goals yet but they're not getting great reports!).

The spine of the team has just taken a bit of a hit, but with Akinde slowly returning, likewise O'Connor and Freck potentially back on Saturday then it doesn't seem as though we're a million miles off being back to full strength.

Can't complain too much - we're still well positioned with Newport and Exeter also dropping points.

Crazy to think we're the highest scorers in the league yet our main striker has scored one from open play this season (although been involved in the most amount of goals).

Only MK and......Grimsby (!) have had a better points return in the last 4 games so I think we are not far away.

MK have hit a rich vein of form though and worked out how to win rather than draw. They have Mansfield this weekend which can be just as tough as Colchester.

I must have missed our penalty shout, I presume you're referring to Etuhu for the other one. If so then it was a case of 'seen them given' rather than a clear cut one, I think. It was close range and his arms were only slightly away from his side rather than unnaturally high, so you'll also see those not given a lot of the time.

It was almost exactly the same position in the 18 yard box as Etuhu but 2nd half- seemed (from where I was sat) almost identical as well but I suppose I should give the ref 10/10 for consistency!

Bizarre comments by Cowley about the pitch not being properly watered, and how they prepare for specific pitch conditions in training. Guess that's the sports scientist in him; but if Lincoln are better away from home than at Sincil Bank then surely how Danny Cowley manages the pitch conditions in training matters not one jot. Sometimes you can overthink things, do the players maybe find the pressure is off them away from home where Cowley can't control the pitch conditions and they aren't expected to precisely replicate everything they've been doing in training?
Wasn't watered at all - someone forgot to flick the switch to fill the tank up!

There's very little in our home and away records - a couple of points and 2 less goals conceded I think.

Away from home, we're left with more space. The last few games, teams have come here and sat in, as you'd expect, but we're much better when it's a more open game and/or when the opposition aren't as organised (opposite to last season really). Also, because we've not quite worked out how to use Akinde best, or at least get the right service into him, those tight, narrow games aren't really what we need at the minute.

We've struggled against Crawley, Cambridge and now yourselves who've played narrower and deeper.

He seemed to get bizarrely emotional about it all. I've heard managers give strange reasons for a poor performance; we wore the wrong studs apparently in one game, but he seems to be genuinely upset by it all.

Cheers Shoddy, I'll check out what DC said then. BTW, 'Arry Kewell's post match interview is entertaining for the neutral fan, or at least I think so. I do enjoy managers claiming that their side dominated the game, and it was all the ref's fault they didn't take all 3 points.

Odd indeed however it wasn't a bad performance- Carlisle have a strong away record this season, our home performance is patchy.

Some poor defending, some decent attacking play (first half)
Some huff and puff second half without too much result

Point keeps us 3 points clear at the top- on to Saturday

I think he, rightly IMO, sees it as a pretty basic thing to get right but I don't think it was that in isolation. I'm sure the dropped points against Cambridge, then against Carlisle, the Chapman sending off, injuries to key players, losing another during the game, the training ground still not quite there inside the buildings, in the process of buying a house up here, moving the family up etc are also playing on his mind and it all just came together for a few minutes.

Not just that, but it was a home sell-out on a Tuesday night and some really basic error has in part led to an under-par (by our standards) performance.

It was a very unusual interview from him, though. He's usually very calm, collected and measured in what he says. But maybe there's a message in there to the Club not to get complacent over things (for all we know, something else might have happened in weeks gone by).

The water issue aside, he did say that wasn't the reason we only drew and stated that defensively we were poor and praised Carlisle.

Bad night all round on Tuesday on and off the pitch.
Time to move on I think and concentrate on Saturday, big game.

Reminded me in some ways of the famous Kevin Keegan meltdown over Man Utd when interviewed on Sky in the late 90's- and that was caused by one thing and one thing only.......pressure.

Mention we are "favourites" to win the league, get promotion, win the FA Cup, win anything and he does get a little testy and rightly so. This league is won over 46 games not won in October however being at, or near, the top and having to stay there after this year's investments creates enormous pressure. There is clearly an expectation we will be in EFL1 next season and, with the squad we have, that is possible but the intensity and strain is clear. Two home games, two draws, a few injuries and you can hear the stress in his voice.

That's my view- the culmination of 2 or 3 weeks of issues and performances not being resolved (of which the training ground is also definitely one) manifested itself in the interview he gave.

That's my view anyway- and it's only October! This is going to be a long season

I thought he had bought a house months ago?

The thing is, building a house is a journey and it takes time. Cowley won't just go out and get standard skirting boards from MFI. If the only skirting boards that are available aren't good enough to be the best in the division then he will wait until the right product is on the market.

They've been building a house(s), not buying.

Plan was to move the family up in the new builds straight away but they're renting until the they're ready.
Lol. We were told by more than one poster that they had bought somewhere and were SO committed to the club. And now they are building somewhere. Fuck me how long does it take to build somewhere in the age of Brexit?

Sounds like someone is spinning a line

No David. As said at least a couple of Lincoln fans had confirmed they HAD already bought somewhere. I assume within wanking distance of SB

Remind me whose manager has insisted all their players must live in the town.....clearly a big pull, that one!!

Indeed they bought but they're being built , 3 of them, 1 for each brother and their parents.
They're currently renting.
The village they have bought in is close to the ground but other side of the city to the training ground I was told.

Whichever way you want to look at it, they moved from their Club provided Burton Waters house in the summer and are currently in between houses with the families already moved up and kids started in private school here.
