Sincerely hope they are creative with the FF7 remake. Everything the same with merely a graphical update will a) not work for new gamers in 2015 and b) not be at all exciting to somebody who can already tolerate the visuals of the original enough to enjoy repeat playthroughs.

The characters, the main story, the core gameplay of turn based combat and the materia system are all they need to keep. So much potential to expand and build upon this to make an even richer game. Give it the AAA treatment. Please

All of this. Don't mind if they make the turn based style a little more dynamic, mind. I'm a little concerned that the remake will lack the original's charm, too.

Hopefully that wasn't their full hand (doubt it was) as honestly I expected more. Only one PS4 exclusive releasing in 2015 from that conference?

Think it did say a lot that half of the conference was dedicated to third party games. Some great perks, extra content or timed in favour of Sony content but it was needed otherwise the rest of the conference had little else.

Kind of made me realise even more so that I'm not really in to the Sony exclusives. Last Guardian and Shenmue sound interesting but not something that is for me personally. Horizon could be alright but without Naughty Dog I doubt I would have a reason to consider a PS4 currently.

For Honor, Ubisoft's new IP

"For Honor will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation®4 system, and Windows PC.

Key Features:
• Choose your hero among the three greatest legacies of warriors: Knights, Vikings, or Samurai. Able to turn the tide of battle and make their faction victorious, each warrior comes with their own weapon set and play style.

• Capture control points, and slaughter enemies with our groundbreaking multi-player mode.

• The Art of Battle control system lets you wield the weight of your weapon and feel the power and impact of each strike.

• Inspire fear in your enemies by customizing your warrior, including your chest, shoulders, and helmet."

I fucking love Vikings. Easily my favourite historical faction ever

I really liked the look of Sea of Thieves on Xbox One, looked like a lot of fun, I'm on PS4 but would get an Xbox One as it is backwards compatibility, but I suppose I could keep it and dust off the 360, plus I wanted a PS4 for No Man's Sky mainly and Uncharted 4 looks great. Haven't seen the PS4 conference yet and herd a few bits and bobs.

Fifa looks like the same stuff every year, improve this and that which change very little at all in the grands scheme of things. I hope they change career up a bit or bring team play back, otherwise I will be going to PES which looks stunning and very PS2 era. Also the new GameFace feature looks better than the PC one which is terrible.

Ubisoft's conference was the best part I watched, For Honor looks great from the little part that was shown and hoping there is a good game to go with it. London looks awesome in Syndicate. The two Tom Clancy games stole the show, I really want to know more about Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Loved the look of Star Wars but hope it is not just a Battlefield type of game, hope there is co op of 4 players playing missions rather than running around aimlessly around the maps.

The lack of big PS4 exclusive this Q4 seems utterly irrelevant now given how stacked the gaming calendar is. Exclusives are overhyped too, unless it's a massive franchise but just announcing some game like Sunset Overdrive level doesn't really have too much of an impact. It's worked out nicely for them anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tomb Raider delayed until 2016 because there's no way they can release that in the same day as fucking Fallout.

In terms of building hype for the future then Sony absolutely won.

Fallout 4 to last me over Christmas, Uncharted next year then you'll probably get Tomb Raider once the timed exclusive period ends and then you're set up for the likes of Horizon, which looked great.

Pretty telling they only spent 2 minutes on Morpheus though, that thing is DOA, if they were that excited about it they wouldn't have made a half-arsed mention about Rigs and that's it.

It really was mental though. Last Guardian finally happening, I have no interest in Shenmue 3 but that's been rumoured for a decade and FFVII remake too. That's three things lots of people have wanted for 6-10 years and they announced them all in a span of 30 minutes.

Shenmue kickstarter smashed its target within 12 hours of the announcement. I know about the hype of it but never played it.

Probably, but for me I rate E3s on what they are giving me between now and the next E3. Of which Sony have one planned exclusive.

I'll care about non quarter one 2016 releases when E3 2016 comes along.

I think the fact that Microsoft could reel off 5 exclusives coming out this year, didn't need to mention 2016 exclusive releases like Scalebound, Crackdown or Quantum Break, along with an interesting showing of Hololens and the massive news of backwards compatibility. I think they won hands down between the two.

My rankings:
1. Bethesda
2. Microsoft
3. Sony/Ubisoft
4. Sony/Ubisoft
5. EA

Not everythings been announced from everyone.

Theres still the floor show to open when news will trickle out from the smaller devs.
then in the next few months theres gamescom and TGS.
sony probably doimg another playstation experience again too.

Sony actually have a fair few exclusives coming out this year, but they're not all AAA titles so let's pretend they don't exist. 2015, where budget is more important to gamers than story or gameplay.

I was more impressed with Microsoft's conference personally. This coming from a Sony guy. Only really interested in Horizon, Uncharted 4 and FF7 remake

And FF7 remake might be coming out on the One anyway (though i'm sure PS4 will have bonus content or something which is why it was revealed in Sony's conference).

Finally caught up, some very impressive looking games. What game's winning E3 right now though? The OAF FAVE FIVE goes:

1) Fallout 4
2) Uncharted 4
3) Battlefront 3
4) Sea of Thieves
5) Ghost Recon

But that's without even mentioning the likes of TLG, FF7 and Shenmue 3. By the way, SHENMUE THREE. HOLY CRAP!

Inevitably I will have to buy a PS4 for Uncharted 4.

wait FF7 is a remake and not a simple remaster?

this could be disastrous, unless the word remake actually is REmastered?

It's been out for like 2 years already in Japan. It's now just getting a localisation. @Youkai watch
And yeah annoyed at no level 5 announcement of their PS4 game. Hoping it happens when the floor show opens and the smaller devs reveal stuff.

I must admit I came in my fanboy pants when I found out about the FF7 remake. They need to keep the story, characters and battle basics the same but the scope for expanding the world is massive. Who wouldn't want to fully explore a sprawling Midgar or just waste their time in a next-gen Gold Saucer? If Square Enix nail this, it could be the best game I've played since, well... Final Fantasy VII.

Please, please, please don't fuck this up, Square!

Sony won, Microsoft won.

I think the only thing we can be sure of is that the consumers will lose, yet again.
