Is it really that bad? I'm not sure it is. Granted it's unlikely to be a squad that would worry the likes of Germany and Brazil, but we've got a few decent young players in that squad who could be big players for England over the next ten years or so.
You should both of these sides play. They're really not doing that well at the moment. I mean Germany couldn't beat fucking Ireland!

Had this in the background while watching France/Sweden. Looked a bloody bore but hey they all count.
Unfortunately, the upcoming qualifiers won't really give us strong indications on how Germany has improved and if the new leaders (Götze and Kroos) are ready to step up. Germany face Australia in a friendly and Georgia. I expect comfortable wins on both counts.

For some reason Hodgson has called up Rob Green and promoted Butland from the U21s.

I thought it was a bad squad and then Rob Green gets a call-up...

Also Danny Rose got called up, is that 4 left backs in the squad and without the best English left back on current form (Bertrand)..

I'm sure Roy is just :fish: now

Bertrand's the new Clyne. It only took Hodgson two years and a World Cup to realise that Clyne's a better right back than Johnson, Smalling and Walker.

It only took me three months

Who else is there with both Foster & Forster out? Heaton?

I'd say we don't really have anyone that can really push Hart for a starting spot, and that worries me. What happens if we get to France next Summer and Hart picks up an injury just before the tournament starts?

Then we play Forster. One thing he does have in his favour is experience of a lot of big European nights with Celtic against sides like Barca where he's had to be on top form against an onslaught. Them games would be invaluable in European competition.

It would be his lack of experience at international level that would most worry me. Plenty of goalkeepers have frozen when they've had to step up to that level and it's proved costly.

Deserved call-up I think. Done very well this season.

Just to make up the numbers isn't it? I know that last year when Reed was with the U-20's he was asked to train with the seniors and obviously he stayed with the U-20's in the competitive fixtures.

Other people are saying that if Berahino hadn't pulled out of the U-21's, he'd have replaced Sturridge in the seniors.

Danny Roses withdraws, no replacement will be called up.

Poor Bertrand.

They call up three left backs just so they don't have to call Bertrand up if one drops out. :x

Bertrand's being called up for the Italy friendly. Makes total sense.

Club form often doesn't translate into international form though. I could understand playing Welbeck ahead of him, especially when he has an entire game against better opposition to have a look at him.

Is it me or does Smalling sound like he should be working in an IT department with his mate Roy?
