The good - Accrington - dived, cheated, conned the ref in both games and were a total disgrace - but they did it well. Along side being alright at football.

The bad - id have to go for Grimsby - bloody dire in both games against us.

The ugly - probably Notts county and Kevin Nolan time wasting from the off in the 2nd half then claiming a handball in the box wasn’t (it was). Despite the fact he’s actually done an all round great job

The good - our ~110 goals this season, of which 90 so far in the league with an incredible goal difference. The first Luton strike pairing in 90 years to score 20 goals each.

The bad - Yeovil being appalling in both games against us. Conceding 8 on day 1 especially after being ahead and then in the return fixture going down to 9 men within 35 minutes and meekly giving up the easiest win I’ve seen in a long time.

The ugly - The excuses some managers are peddling after being beaten.

The good: a team of dedicated players hungry to prove they were not the no hopers that wealthier clubs thought they were

The bad: too elated to see any

The ugly: the small section of so called football fans who enjoy attacking other fans,

The good: the football we played in the first half of the season was exceptional and the best I’ve seen in years here.

The bad: the way we seemingly failed to set ourselves up for the run in, yes we were unlucky in some games (that Accy game still sticks in the craw a little I must say!!) but when the big games rolled around we were left wanting. The champagne football of December and before disappeared and we looked a little rabbit in the headlights when the going got tough. Choking the title away from the position we were in is I think pretty bad.

The ugly: the continued rangling over the new stadium goes on, with idiots from corporations who only care of their bottom line, and are totally disconnected from reality judging from public interviews, seemingly having more of a say on the future of the town than it’s residents.

Apologies for not looking past our own navels!

The good - Swindon are the only team to beat us twice bar Accrington but they absolutely pulled us apart at our place.
The Bad - No one other than Newport have been totally hopeless against us.
The ugly - Steve Evans

GOOD - Pretty thin pickings seen from an Abbey perspective but, since I'm a positive sort of guy with wider horizons, I can offer a few - even if I restrict myself to L2.
  • We finish the season with the most likable Interim Head Coach in the EFL.
  • Joe Dunne's (and Barry Corr's) interviews in recent weeks.
  • Context is all - celebrating draws (Luton, Carlisle and the Wycombe 94th min equaliser) like we've got to the cup final when they would have been further nails in the coffin and lucky escapes if Derry was still there.
  • Fatty and his sidekick's stay in L2 was brief enough to offer a distraction rather than deep irritation, with the bonus that their joining with Fat Baz and Con-Man McAnthony has the potential for major ructions at Posh down the road.
  • Luton out of our hair and, yet to be absoloutely confirmed, but the chance of the dead hand of Wycombe joining them, Accrington Champions and Morecambe surviving for another year to wind up the "Big" clubs would be good.
  • My standout has to be the stoicism and gallows humour with which (most) Grimsby fans are dealing with their Fenty inspired demise.

BAD - I've seen the light - the answer was Shaun Derry. We'll quietly forget about Jez, crap recruitment and over £1 million down various black holes over the last 3 seasons.

UGLY - Outbursts of the nasty elements of society into our special world of lower league football - be it violence for the sake of violence, greed at the FA or in the boardrooms or, worst of all, shallow egotistical managers like Joey Barton finding jobs ahead of such legendary stalwarts as Graham Westley, Russell Slade, John Sheridan and Neil Redfearn.

The Good:
Seen some excellent team spirit and proper never say die attitude this season. Watching the team sprint back to kick off again fast after getting a late equaliser was the perfect tonic to all the dark arts that go on in L2. Pleased to see they always believe they can win even in the 95th minute.
Notable other respects go to: Luton and Barnet. Both teams actually tried to play football against us and passed it around in a positive fashion. I cant understand how Barnet are getting relegated based on their performances against us.

The Bad:
Teams like FGR pissing money up the wall for no good reason. Paying a fee for Reuben Reid is the epitome of insanity. Football at this level should be about sustainability and organic growth. Take heed and ask the Torquay fans where they went wrong.

The Ugly:
Tisdale airing his grievances in the national press. We understand he's annoyed and feels like hes been treated unfairly but fundamentally the manager is not more important than the club. We run a democratic process and the vote needs to be respected. Like brexit - you may not like it but it's what was voted for.

The Good - Mo Eisa - what a find he's been and his goals have been something to really crow about this season.

The Bad - The fact that a split between the club and fans has appeared and is starting to grow. The club messing up this week's season ticket announcement being a case in point, and then refusing to accept that they had ballsed up in their response to the Trust's statement requesting an explanation - for those who don't know, it was announced that season ticket prices had frozen, but there was no mention of a £5 admin fee on all season tickets (therefore a £5 increase). Had the club just announced a £5 increase then no-one would have been bothered (there'd have been a grumble) but don't try and market it one way when that's clearly not the case.

The Ugly - Similar to the Bad, a rift has developed between Gary Johnson and the fans - to such an extent that it doesn't matter what he does now some won't accept it until he's gone. Accrington going up now makes a lot of our fans think that we should be pushing for promotion, failing to take into account that there are 22 other teams probably thinking the same thing, and Johnson is the sole reason we're not challenging. I'm not defending him, last Saturday was the first time I've questioned how important he is to the club, and he has made a number of errors this season (no right-back all season!!) but even the wins in 2018 have been pockmarked with "they were shit anyway", etc... This has also led to Johnson making veiled digs at the fans in his press conferences.

The Good - Although we've been bloody awful all season no other team has impressed me that much although Coventry beat us with ease both times we played them.

The Bad - Us, every game this season bar Stanley away and Swindon at home.

The Ugly - Russell Slade in every goddamn way possible.

The Good - Marc Richard's goals and Luke Norris' penalty acumen. Getting to the FA Cup second round.

The Bad - This season, instantly forgettable. Luke Norris' (lack of) footballing ability. Losing 5-2 to Stevenage in the FA Cup second round.

The Ugly - snapping my Achilles tendon playing football.

The Good - December - Smashing Luton 4-0, beating Coventry 1-0 and 4 wins in 5. The return of legends JR and Neil Aspin to save us.

The Bad - Michael Brown's colossal mess!

The Ugly - Worst season in decades for the Vale (unless we finish 18th or above)

I'm still amazed you actually paid money for Luke Norris.

I'm still amazed you actually paid money for Luke Norris.

The man is an enigma. Apart from his 100% penalty record this season, I'm really not convinced he is a striker, when the ball is in the box, his positioning appears questionable. Whenever there is a rebound from the keeper, his positioning remains questionable. (Marc Richards is the complete opposite). Whenever he does get a chance, he more often than not will fluff it.

He is quite handy defending from corners so I wonder whether he would be better actually as a CB.

But to your point, yes I am amazed also.

Yeah. But the ridiculous £150,000 figure is one of those footballing myths.

Knock a zero off and you’re probably spot on. But even that was robbery.

Does it look like Norris will be at Mansfield next season if Flip Flop is at the Mill.

He seems to rate him and I'm not convinced we'll offer him a new contract when its up the end of this season. (I think)

The good - the 10 minute spell at the start of the second half home to Luton, they were superb and scored three. It was wave after wave and we simply couldn't defend against it. From our own point of view, we found the ability to dig in and grind out results when, it the past, we'd have continued to pass sideways and backwards just because we were trying to play the "right" way (despite it not working).

The bad - home to Swindon, for the first 15 minutes it looked like neither side had even heard of football never mind played it. Thankfully, we improved but Swindon managed to keep it up for the whole game.

The ugly - Wycombe. It's always Wycombe.

The Good -
1. Accy going up (and probably winning the title ahead of multi million pound spending Luton)
2. Good looking 'Arry keeping Crawley well clear of any danger (Crawley's were everybody's favs for the drop)
3. The sacking of Shaun D***y

The Bad -
1. Chesterfield's back four
2. 'Too good to go down' Grimsby struggling to avoid the drop
3. Paul Raynor
4. Danny Hylton for opting not to join in with the rest of his team mates in congratulating E.Lee on his wonderful 60 yard strike but instead acting like a spoiled brat in David Forde's face.
5. Kenny End's accounting skills.

The Ugly -
1. Lincoln taking 27k plus to Wembley ('but we've never been to Wembley before guv' :ffs:)
2. Fatty Rhead's elbow in the same match
3. Accy only beating us at The Wham courtesy of a blatant push on Taft by Jackson. Up until that dayI still had some hope of making the play offs, and to lose that game in that manner was cruel.

The good... Michael browns sacking. We were down otherwise.

The bad...two shocking runs of 11 and 14 without a win.

The ugly...the standard of refereeing gets more hideous, ( for all teams ) and FGR staying up :conf:
