The Babysitter is released on Netflix this coming Friday. Described as a horror comedy synopsis is young boy spies on his hot babysitter only to discover a terrifying secret. Sounds promising.

Gerald's Game - 7/10 - Kept me hooked all the way through but I just didn't like the end. I imagine it's the same in the book but I thought the horror should have stayed psychological. I won't say anymore for fear of spoilers.

It comes at night - 6/10 - Had heard good things about this. And whilst it did well in keeping up a level of tension of the unknown, the amount of plot holes was ridiculous.

Watched The Descent on Friday night and when I turned it off there was a really crap Descent/Grave Encounters combo rip off called As Above, So Below on telly. Avoid this one at all costs, chaps.

Have to say, I really liked the premise of As Above, so Below with it being set in the French catacombs. But yeah, it didn't quite deliver. I wouldn't say it was terrible though. There were some unsettling bits.

As for The Babysitter, the first 20 minutes or so were shit and I was about to turn it off, but when the actual 'shit' starts going down, it actually becomes quite amusing and ridiculous in a good way. In the end, I actually quite enjoyed it.

You're fooling nobody Wilson, you kept watching because of the lesbian kissing didn't you?!

Well that would certainly be a reason if I weren't the other way inclined.

So I watched Friday the 13th. Huge amounts of cheese, but overall, I really liked it. I like how you didnt see all of the deaths on screen, which had you wondering who was still alive, until the body would pop up somewhere, made it a bit more unpredictable! I also wrongly predicted who I thought the last survivor would be! The ones around the sex scene in particular were especially good!

So with this in mind, the question is there. Who is the most badass final girl? Nancy, Alice or Laurie?

Laurie is a survivor, it takes some doing to survive 20 years of slasher films! Nancy is pretty boss though, despite only seeing in one sequel...

I have given up drinking and as a result will be watching more horror films.

Watched some proper shite on Netflix the last few nights.

White Settlers (2014)
English city couple relocate to remote Scottish farmhouse and are terrorised by the locals.

A Christmas Horror Story (2015)
Festive horror anthology featuring zombie elfs, Krampus, changelings and the antichrist.

Emelie (2015)
Dodgy babysitter.

All 5 baggers.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Get Out

Really, really good. I didn't know much about it, which probably helped, but it's a great, creepy movie.

Insidious: The Last Key

7/10

I liked this. Went in with mixed feelings having seen a few reviews but came out more impressed than I thought I would.

It doesn’t reinvent anything but it’s another solid outing and an engaging story. I liked the fact it explored Elise’s childhood and backstory. Lin Shaye was very good throughout and the whole thing felt more meaningful than number 3 (which wasn’t bad either). It also wrapped it all up nicely at the end so hopefully they don’t make another as it ended perfectly for me. The only negative was the painfully unfunny Specs and Tucker. For a 4th film in a franchise, this was decent.

The critics savaged this so I'm glad you enjoyed it, Lee. Rather listen to you than them. Lin Shaye is great, definitely gonna watch this.

Critics are Insidious. Most of their criticism was that it's nothing new. It's the 4th Insidious film. If it was the first, I'd understand. But I don't know why you'd be going to the cinema to watch this unless you're a fan of the first 3 anyway. If you like Insidious, you'll like this.

Hereditary ,some scenes are genuinely unsettling and it steals its uneasiness from classics such as Rosemary's Baby ,sadly the original flame that burnt the opening of this film into our memory and paid homage to such classics peters out until the closing scenes finally piss all over the embers that were left.

I hated it, quickly descended into exactly the kind of shite I despise. The only thing I liked about it was Bella Thorne's performance as the demented cheerleader.

I've been watching a lot of older stuff recently. Watched a Tales from the Crypt film the other night, the one with Joan Collins who gets murdered by that mad santa. Great stuff. Love anthology horror.
