Yeah, the german football were hardly professional in the early 20th century.

to fill up the starting eleven, they 'nominated' 4 spectators in a friendly vs Belgium in 1910

If England did this today it would probably strengthen the team. And at least the spectators could be guaranteed to turn up for a friendly.

Brazil are such a bunch of diving pussies. It's fucking embarrassing at times.

Leading the Germans 1-0 at half-time. They've been rubbish albeit not helped by Löw's horrible line-up. I wasn't sure if they were playing 4231 or 343. Prior to the goal, Kroos was playing CB next to Süle and Hummels! What's that about? Why start Gündogan on the right. He's been all over the place and Germany have no structure (and haven't had for a while!).
Would love to see Germany play in the 2nd half.

Finished 2-2. Bit of a meh result given that the Germans equalised in the last minute of stoppage time.

Kroos finally woke up in the second half and it showed as Germany equalised (a one-on-one that Mandanda really should have won against Werner) and then Kroos hit the bar. Against the run of play, Lacazette makes it 2-1 and takes the wind out of the Germans' wings. Martial has the chance to make it 3-1 but he fails miserably (Trapp had a great game in fairness). Oh well.

Still reckon Germany could play so much better but just don't.

Southgate will be delighted with the clean sheets but we do lack creativity.

I think they're two very credible results, with a formation which suits us better than the stale 4231 and some promise from the youngsters.

What a performance from Gomez. Coming back so strong after his long term injury, class.

Maybe but he'll never be a player until he gets his flat top back.

We will, we will, mm. We do that when it counts at WC 2018 ;).
Anyway, thank god those friendlies are over for 2017. Germany still unbeaten in the last 21 matches (since the loss in the semi-final at the Euro 2016)

edit: England vs Brazil 0-0? Respectable. How was the match (serious question because I haven't seen anything of it)

And Argentina lost 2-4 against Nigeria in some russian city? WTF are they doing there? Just qualified for Russia 2018 and they are already there? Way too soon:D

We are now the masters for forcing the best teams in the world to goalless draws, it seems. If we weren't so completely awful at penalties this would bode well for the World Cup.

Brazil completely dominated the ball but did surprisingly little with it. It was not a good game.

We watched the Ireland vs Denmark match. So sorry to see Ireland fail to make it. I had a feeling the England vs Brazil match would be a dud, but am pleased that Joe Gomez ("one of our own" at Charlton before we sold him to Liverpool) is doing well. I wish him well.

Ireland were let down by two moments of sloppiness which gave the Danes their goals. It just goes to show how lapses, no matter how small, can cost a team dear.

Tbh, this thread is dead most of the time so I reckon you can keep talking about what happened 100 years ago. Don't think many people mind.

Not that I'm a mod or anything.

England to play an international friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica before they head out to Russia.

Nigeria game is 2nd June at Wembley and Costa Rica is 7th June at Elland Road which is interesting.

Don't think you lads ought to bother with all that England nonsense tonight, you can get all morose about them when the world cup starts in a few months.

Why not watch Scotland tonight play the mighty Costa Rica where we'll blood our new lions in that will finally qualify us once again for a major tournament next time and take the Euros by storm! Mon the lads!!!

Lets hope they all get a good fucking shoeing. But everyone wakes up bruised and battered, but ok and better for the experience.
