Jesus wept. You are the Manchester City of division 1. Your reserve team should be able to get you promoted.!!!

Pressure and expectation is a funny thing in football. The only excuse Cook has is the new team need to gel etc but if he doesn't deliver he's a dead man walking and he knows it. All of us in league one will look on with interest.

I'd add that he potentially have some very unhappy players in the dressing room if he doesn't rotate the squad enough.

This is a very real concern. Cooks man-management is supposedly impeccable but you're right - Championship & in some cases international players warming the bench in L1 could be tricky. However, they knew the deal when they came in - and right now nobody other than Bonne & Edwards have really thrown down a marker for permanent inclusion.

Which I might add, doesn't really wash when considering that Leam Richardson has had exactly the same issue to deal with, yet has managed to pick up seven more points from a far tougher run of fixtures.

Very much early days still, but I suspect that despite all those L1 galacticos on the pitch, the most important signing Ipswich could have made is currently sat in our dugout.

Sometimes, behind every great manager lies a great assistant. Brian Clough sorely missed Peter Taylor after all.

Every chance Paul Cook will sorely miss Leam Richardson. They were quite the pair at their previous clubs after all...

We've bought in 14 players with a substaintially smaller budget. Our attacking looks like it needs more time, but generally our play hasn't been too bad, defence looks pretty solid and got 10 points.

Think there could be some basis in Paul Cook struggling without Richardson.

Grayson has done fuck all since leaving us and Steve Thompson not going with him, who was kept on under Neil and now McAvoy. Hard to say from a fan's point of view how much importance these sort of coaches have.

It was similar with Lambert and Culverhouse. It is a genuine worry. Having seen 10 or so minutes of Cooks coaching (from a footpath next to the training ground) it looks miles better than Lambert. It’s a weird one. We haven’t had this tag of being the big boys or the favourites for 20 years before coming down to L1 and we haven’t handed it so far. Still think we’ll be in the top 6 somewhere

I remember when we had Uwe Rosler, he did really well straight after joining us in December 2013, making the FA Cup semi finals and playoffs. Then his assistant John Doolan left in the summer. Rosler wasn’t allowed to replace him with his own man and was given Eric Black to work with instead (Whelan’s mate). We had a shit season and Rosler was canned around November time.

Impressed with a lot of the business done by Ipswich to be honest.

Ours isn't bad given we can't pay a fee.

Both now need to find the best XI mind

Its not all about paying a fee. We have not paid a fee in nearly 4 years
There lies the problem getting your best 11 and a settled team when you have a large squad

I mean more that we've assembled a decent squad and convinced players to drop a division which I didn't expect given the very public issues we had.

We barely spent a penny from 2000 to 2015 then spunked some serious cash on players who on paper looked decent but on grass they either weren't arsed, injured or overlooked, was surreal.

Bolton have been there and had several tee shirts on that score
Really thought you was in the same position we was, but you seem to have steadied the rot
Sometimes you need to take a step back before two forward.
Its only a matter of time. When, not if the likes of you, us Portsmouth and Sunderland return to the Championship.
The are teams in the championship who will have to drop down to lge2 before they find stability and regroup
Derby wont be the only ones

We cannot pay a fee.

We paid fuck all for Gregory

However we may have to next summer.
Undisclosed fee according to the transfer listing and you are no longer under an embargo in fact since the beginning of August, only quoting what’s in the press and other social media pages.

If you aren’t under an embargo you can pay a fee, choosing not to is another matter however according to all the transfer data on Lee Gregory’s move, it states fee undisclosed which means a fee was payed.

Apparent we can't per the EFL, I agree with your logic but every local journo says we can't

It could definitely be a case of Cook missing Richardson and the rest of his backroom. We look a bit better defensively under Richardson but when Anthony Barry came in our defence in the 7 months of 2020 was excellent, now he is Chelseas defensive coach.

We don t create as much under Richardson but to be honest that could be because the team hasnt gelled yet and you can see it is still a work in process going forward but we just look more savvy under Richardson than Cook, making those decisions to grind results out.

We dominated so many games under Cook and failed to finish games off and then concede late on and get a result that our performance didnt deserve.

Cook will certainly be missing the advice from Richardson and Barry.

Ipswich looked like a bunch of strangers today, especially at the back. Nobody seemed sure who was picking up who, and Bolton picked them apart at will. There weren't many signs that it was close to 'clicking' either, and there was a lot of route one type stuff. Frankly, they look some way from being a promotion challenging side right now.

Our whole team look like strangers especially when we are 18 yards out. Although we couldn't get near mk dons for the first 45 mins across the whole pitch. Bad off the ball runs, terrible choice of pass/shot selection not one of our corners tested mk dons. Lucky we have the best young Goalie in England between the sticks.

Your goalie, Bazunu? was absolutely immense.
