I’m not sure I agree with the slating of team selection, we’ve hardly an embarrassment of riches in midfield.
Who else is there? Middleton? Reeves?
We went 2 up top against Cheltenham and got thrashed, I understand aspin’s Thinking, and it sounds like we did ok today.
We didn’t lose and had the pen gone in would’ve won.
As for the trouble at the end, someone put a stream on Twitter
, wasn’t pleasant viewing.
I’m not sure why there’s always mither with Grimsby

Saw the stream seemed to not be on the pitch as originally reported but down the side. Their fans came goading and well our idiots won’t turn that invite down unfortunately.

Played well, should of won but didn’t. Had we seem that out we’d have been 8 clear with a better goal difference, now a big job Tuesday. Four points from Barnet and Stevenage and it won’t feel as bad I guess.

The team selection and tactics are a massive problem.

I’m sorry dave, I don’t understand what else the bloke can do? Who else in midfield?
Who else up top?
Forrester despite being poor has occasional bouts of mediocrity so he’s gone with him.
Barnett is a better centre half than striker.
Turner will end up at kidsgrove.
As for tactics, he has to a certain degree set us up not to lose, i’d Agree to a point, but, we’re on nearly as bad a run as them, confidence is shot, surely it’s better to come home with a point than none?
I think I know what you mean though, teams at this level just fall apart if you have a go at them, as other teams have proven against us.
I’m not sure we have the players to pull it off.

Pope plays we win today, he scores that penalty. Angry and wound up as I am though I guess at least we are a point further from the drop, beat Barnet we will be virtually 10 clear with our goal difference.

I would have taken a point before kick off, and i'm fairly pleased with a point now given the other results, but it should have been so much more.

Some of the videos of the scrapping today wasn’t pleasant! Two sets of fans who’s at their wits ends maybe but it was not good at all.

Their keeper seemed to be the flashpoint starter according to our fans.

Must have been pre arranged though as these sections of our support are rarely seen in any sub 1000 following.

How did we not win that game ?
Grimsby were absolutely abysmal and the penalty miss woke them from their slumber. One thing no one has mentioned, how about a yellow or even red for the penalty award ? Incredibly no card was shown.
We are shit but they are even worse, wank substition of montano for the foul happy gibbons.
The scenes at the end ( not the crowd trouble ) , standing ovation and the new manager parading on the pitch in his nice suit . WTF you got a point at home against a shit Port Vale !!
Only solace was the bone idle Hooper or cowardly Kelly didn't score.
Also no way there was only 316 Vale fans.

Usually when I see trouble I know for a fact it’s our idiots who started it, so it’s quite refreshing seeing that for once there’s a fan base with even more knuckle draggers than ours. Cheers Port Vale!

I think the celebrations at the end were purely down to relief that the rot was stopped of the run consecutive defeats, and I believe I'm right in saying we haven't scored any injury time goals this season that have actually meant anything, just a consolation goal at Cambridge so to get a point from a game we got battered in by scoring so late would have definitely felt like a victory and something our fans have not been used to.
I have to admit I had the vidiprinter on my phone at Papas and when it came through 1-1 myself and my lad shouted out loud getting a few funny looks from some of the Yorkies around us. :bg:
I've watched the highlights and how Vale didn't win was purely down to one man - James McKeown, surely his best ever game for Town.
Did your lad manage to find the train station ok afterwards?
I hope you managed to dodge all the idiotic goings on after the game, all the best for the rest of the season, as long as it's not at our expense of course.

As soon as Tonge missed the penalty I just knew we’d blow it.

A point isn’t that bad because results went our way and it’s another game where Chesterfield/Barnet didn’t close the gap. We are going to have to win a couple of our last games though. We can’t rely on draws to keep us up.

Cheers for asking Fish. I ended up driving him to Lincoln as there was no train until 18-28 .
We pretty much kept our heads down and gobs shut as the home loons were marauding the side streets. I parked by I think it was Sidney park ?
Was baffled at the lack of police as I knew myself that we were bringing 2 coaches of our loons and also given the police turnout at our home game with you.
You are right about your keeper, his reflex save in the first half was superb.
JJ Hooper chant had your fans pissing themselves and a few applauding,,, your shit for Grimsby your shit for Vale etc.
Hooper looked bemused at the vitriol towards him, one bone idle waster .
All the best buddy and I hope you have made the Mrs breakfast .

The trouble was baffling as these type never usually rock up at games like Grimsby where we are miles away with a modest following, you’d see them at say Bolton or local games like Crewe where we take a couple of thousand so not sure why they went unless possibly something happened in the return fixture or something arranged?

Only been Grimsby once years ago and don’t recall any trouble at all apart from an old bloke shouting at me as he felt Michael Walsh got their lad sent off! Was August and think someone drowned off the coast sadly that day.

That save from McKeown from Anton was unreal. 99% of the time that’s 2-0 and game over. Not sure how he got that but they’ll be hoping he keeps that up. Aspin said it was the best save this season and probably isn’t far off.... if we had a competent keeper we’d not be in this mess... think we were linked with him last season when Alnwick left for Rangers too!

Hooper has the talent but just doesn’t have the atitude or hunger for it based on his time with us, considering we gave him a chance from Havant he just didn’t look interested and him bottling the Fleetwood game after ten minutes summed up his atitude. Sounds like he’s regressed further. Sam Kelly done anything?

He might have played about 45 minutes combined since August, with 15 of them coming yesterday. Got found out then that he was weak and also a bottler. Play surprisingly well when he came on yesterday though!

Hooper’s games have consisted of him not jumping for headers, missing some easy chances and generally being a bit selfish. He’s decent with the ball at his feet but like many Vale fans alluded to, he seems to play with 60% effort most of the time.

I thought Aspin got the tactics spot on and bar the keeper pulling off a world class save 1st half and a penalty save we would have won-but thats football and if you can`t take it don`t watch it. I`m assuming Monty has an injury and with a game Tues Aspo is looking after him, I thought he was good again at left back.

Losing him going forward tho with his goals. It’s a shame what happened to Kjell really as he would have perfect for that role had he not had what he had.

Might of been worth keeping Kiko in the end knowing how badly the situation is at left back!

I think that is the 2nd time this season that Forrester has had a shot saved like that from a keeper going the other way, great save unfortunately for us.

I also liked the save from the indirect free kick in our box that one of our defenders (couldn't make out who it was) saved with his face and yet barely flinched. :hail:

McKeown's follow-up save after that was even better.
