The third film in the series and easily the worst (Third films are pretty naff aren't they? Terminator 3, Alien 3, Superman 3 etc.) I quite liked the opening story, interesting concept. The second one was okay, but the third was awful and the end didn't do a lot for me either 5.5/10.

American Sniper. Best war film I've seen for ages, well worth watching.

I watched Inside Llewyn Davis. Well acted, a bleak story with a sprinkle of humour. John Goodman is especially funny.

Fairytale Hollywood glitter completely changing reality. Good action if that's what you're after and it also keeps the back story concise. Bradley Cooper is brilliant.

Amazing Movie. The plot was so good, unpredictable and the performances are great as well. Such an amazing movie.

I'd agree with all of that bar the last 30mins....really seemed to drag the movie down. I thought it was a disappointing end to an otherwise solid film.

Rosemary's Baby.

Hmmmm. Tough one to review, this. I think Polanski set the mood really well. A creeping sense of doubt gives way to a sense of utter desperation and despair as the film goes on. Mia Farrow is great. But a combination of the topic at hand and the passage of time (for some reason I thought this film was about 25 years old, not nearly half a century) meant it didn't quite have the effect on me I'm sure it might have done on someone in 1968.

Sniper is decent fiction with great action. Definitely worth a watch but don't expect a factual rendering.

What a load of shite.
Na its superb!

Not able to watch much films just now as my headphones have went boom! Not in the mood of forking out serious dough on a new set at the moment tbh.

No but definitely want to see it. That, Mad Max and Star Wars are my Hollywood films to look out for currently this year.

Avengers 2 tops my films to see list this year closely followed by Star Wars, others include Jurassic World, Kingsman, American Sniper.

This is my review of Wall-e, in the style of Alty.

Didn't enjoy this, due to the poor character development. Quite how the viewer is expected to believe in a love between two robots who communicate solely by pronouncing each other's names repeatedly and badly made for a completely unrealistic watch, even by Pixar's standards.

Watched a fair few over the last week or so after being struck down with man flu.

American Sniper - Fantastic, utterly fantastic. I like war films that don't glamorise war, and Bradley Cooper plays the perfect part. Was expecting pretty big things from it given the reviews, and wasn't disappointed. Not too sure about people who complain at the way it plays out, it's based on a true story afterall and there's only so much you can do with it whilst staying believable and respectful. I've actually ordered Chris Kyle's autobiography, really looking forward to delving in to it.

Fury - Spent Saturday afternoon with the old man watching a few movies over a few glasses of whiskey. My Dad's a big fan of World War movies, and I didn't really expect much from this, although as Brad Pitt proved in Inglorious Basterds he's fantastic at these war-time productions and the same applied with this. Really enjoyed it, although a little dragged out in the middle.

Gone Girl - One of the most mind-f*cking movies I have ever seen, and not all that enjoyable either.

I liked it. It wasn't scary but I found the concept intriguing. It became a bit too cat and mouse at the end and it had the potential to be scarier but in terms of offering something different, I liked it.

Good film, but it's not a film I'd rush to watch again any time soon. Bradley Cooper is excellent.

I get the feeling Chris Kyle was a tad racist or bigoted with the way he says he enjoys killing. It felt a bit like a propaganda film too. But all that aside it is a good, well directed film.

7/10.

A somewhat unkown film I would suspect with a fantastic lineup of British talent, A tale of friendship love and loss. Its a shame these films go under the radar.

A Simple Plan

Not to be confused with the same titled straight to dvd release of the Liverpool season review 13/14, this is a film about 3 men who find a bag of money in a crashed plane. This is then followed by the problems that ensue. Good performance by BBT.

Ive started trying to watch one film every week I havent seen, ranging anywhere from great films Ive somehow missed, to any old shite that I can find on Sky Go that looks passable for an hour or two. Kept it up for 3 weeks now, which is probably my best ever whenever I say Im going to do this!

The Call (2013)
Halle Berry is a 911 call operator who one night makes a cock up which ends up with a girl calling about a prowler getting murdered. 6 months later, she takes a call from a teenager who has been kidnapped and calling her from the boot of the kidnapper's car while the authorities race to find her. For about an hour, it's an alright, passable tense little thriller that has you wondering whats going to happen next. The last half hour is shit though, descends into crazy Hard Candy territory and makes you wonder if the writers got bored halfway through so tagged on the ending to a different film. 6/10

The Way Way Back (2013)
Coming of age film about a painfully awkward teenager who goes on holiday with his newly divorced mother and her new boyfriends family to his beach house, and ends up coming out of his shell after discovering the local archaic water park. Its very good, more comedy than drama, but has its dramatic and serious bits as well. Nostalgic and good performances all round. 8/10

Blue Valentine (2010)
A love story that flits between the miserable married present, and the early days of a budding romance between Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Probably the most depressing film Ive ever seen, but its very good. Surprised it only got one Oscar nomination really, as the performances are very powerful, managing to show both characters at their likeable best and seeing how they fell in love, to the bitter jaded hate filled marriage that is the present. Pretty uncomfortable in places, but worth a watch. 8/10
