We'd need another 54 points really. We are on couse for about 70 points if we continue our current form. I reckon unless we strengthen considerably in Jan we'll end up around 60-65 points

Pompey should have an easy win tonight, Copps, May and Williams injured, Marquis suspended so the only striker we have is Mandeville although I don't think he's a striker other than that it's youth.

What happened to walking the league?

Maths isn't my strong point but I count that as 14pts behind league leaders Shewsbury.

I don't remember saying we'll walk the league tbh but I might have done; on paper we should be, we have the players to.

I'm not brilliant at maths either but I count 34 more games for us to play, still plenty of time.

Mulgrew, Whittingham, Dack and Chapman could all play in the Championship; most of the rest of our best 11 are better than most in this league. Our problem is under-performing players and an inability to break down defences. Get that sorted out and we should be winning 80% of our games.

This division has beem crazy so far after about 8 games 6 teams all had title winning points per game ratios and the bottom looked like 30 points would keep you up. A few weeks later and most of the teams at the bottom have gone on winning runs and teams at the top keep losing.

Also very few draws this season and then we had 8 last night. League is starting to tighten up after a big gap was emerging

Now to make things more interesting thia weekends fixtures bring up 6 matches all involving the top half and 6 matches all involving the bottom half. Never seen that before.

Luckily for us, out of the 4 teams above us who have only played 13, 2 of them we play in their game in hand and the other 2 play each other.

I'm feeling much more confident after the last few weeks. We could easily have got a draw at Blackburn, admittedly had a shocker against Pompey (but it was on Sky, so that's my excuse) before two excellent performances and 4 points against two of the divisions better sides on paper in Posh and Wigan. Our squad still isn't a strong one, but it's not terrible either. We won't score too many goals with the current set up, but we're defensively rather good all things considered. I think if we can add a couple of forward thinking players in January we should have enough to avoid the drop. It's great to see the improvements in just a week or so since Taylor went, with Martin, List and Hess coming into their own and looking happy again. As long as Eaves can stay out of trouble and on the pitch then he'll be a threat to most sides which is just as well as our other forwards are toothless.

We concede more often that not and Holmes is an injury worry. I'd be ecstatic with a draw.

Would imagine Kilgallon will be playing left back and the young loanee Hendrie will be right back so even if Holmes and Marshall were 50% I’d still look to be playing them but who knows.

Forgot about the lad Field who’s on loan who could be an option at left back but he’s not really had a look in at all and hasn’t really pulled up many trees in his rare appearances.

I still think that things will eventually click properly into place for us. It's still early days and we have a couple of games in hand so I still feel confident of pushing for automatic promotion. I still think that we should have gone for another proper striker as I feel we have a lot of no 10s and not enough no 9s.

For what it's worth, I agree that looks like a cracking team for League One level - and you may well give our brittle team a thumping on Saturday. I'm just not convinced about Mowbray. Also, the likelihood of your owners selling vital players from under him in the Jan transfer window may be a worry?
