Absolutely ridiculous end to our game today.

New keeper Henderson making his debut crocks his knee/hammy from a goal kick, no subs left so our winger goes in goal. Then our centre back gets sent off. Then there’s 7 mins of added time. Cue a backs to the wall end with the loudest atmosphere that Fratton’s had for ages. Mental! We’ve had horrendous luck with injuries this year.

Your defender should learn to keep his gob shut both cards for something he said to the ref. Your fans were load though.

Oh well, a free hit of a game really so not too dismayed by a loss. 2-0 isn't awful either, and makes our record after 30 games to be 10 wins, 10 draws, 10 defeats and a goal difference of 0! How very average

Lack of quality in the final third sums us up. Thought we were going to get hammered first 20 minutes and Rotherham looked very good - miles ahead of Bradford last week. Fought our way back into it though and could have taken a point if we'd managed to land even a single shot on target.

Lovely and unexpected result beating Charlton. What was good is we showed a backbone/spirit for a change. Faz has done a job in getting some belief back in the team.

Good turnout as well, certainly noisy as they came across on the radio.

The thing is, if we end up going off via the Play-Off's, then we will likely come straight back down. The board have said they can not generate the revenue to support Championship level football, without additional revenue streams and outside investment. We need a couple seasons to get the non-matchday revenue streams up and running, and in turn attract further investment to finish off the ground (phase 2 of Grandstand redevelopment). Once we have that, then yes we would be able to compete

I agree, and I suspect that the comings and goings in January has created a modest piggy bank put under a pillow to be spent in the summer to strengthen us a bit for next season. I always had a hope of about twelfth, so if we end up safe mid table I will be happy. Key thing is to get another eleven points or so to ensure that relegation s not an issue.

Robinson has blasted our attacking players but there are questions marks over the defending for all three goals for me. Too easy to get the ball in the box and far too much time for the scorers to pick their spot. Very poor.

Powell is a brilliant motivator and has a knack of making players feel good about themselves and get them playing well. Not surprised at all to see you win the first two with him in charge.

What a difference a day, and a change of manager makes.

We fielded three of our five new signings, consigned our ageing foreign legion of crocks to stay behind and train in Oxford, and fielded a team with an average age of 23. We still had to re-shuffle twice, as we lost Wes Thomas in the warm up and his replacement John Obika after less than half an hour.

But, once we'd settled down and worked Charlton out, we grew into the game and realised it was there for the taking. Still managed to gift Charlton two goals, but came back, scored three, hit the woodwork twice, and deservedly got the late winner to send the 1,400 away fans crazy.

That's what football is all about. Oxford are back!

Depressing game of football on Saturday.

Shrewsbury look the makings of a top team, really. They weren't great (neither were we) but it was just one of those typical performances where they niggle players for 90 minutes (but never enough to draw a foul), constantly win every 50/50 ball, every time the ball bounces it will some how end up bouncing in their direction.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they were lucky of anything like that, credit to them. They were just much more physical than us and scored a peach of a goal from some f***ing awful defending in the last minute.

Tbh, they had a L2 style of play, physical and annoying, but it paid off.

Frustrating but that's football. We were poor & should have risen to the challenge.

TBH it makes me laugh when fans talk like that. The very idea that you can plan when to go up! Real life isn’t FIFA and there is no guarantee at all that a good season will be followed by a better one. Look at our own L1 play off final in 2014. Our opponents that day were Leyton Orient. They set off like Shrewsbury this year and were top for absolutely ages, the following year they were relegated and are now in the conference. You must take your chance whe;it’s there and then worry about what will happen next. Plymouth are looking good for an outside bet and performing well, but in two years time could be back in L2 rather than thinking about the Championship, same for Pompey, and the. Millers come to that. Another way to look at it, I’d rather get relegated into this division than out of it

I have never played FIFA, so your comment is lost on me. I know what you mean, but K is right, were either ourselves or Pompey to go up we would struggle and more than likely come down. We are playing well, but injuries or suspensions to Taylor, Carey or Sarcevic and we’d lose our spark.
