Woops!

I saw Dons in the name and assumed it was either Wombles or MK. Checked the fixture list and saw Wombles didn’t play today so drew my conclusion

Our game against Oldham has been confirmed as on.

Kinda wishing it wasn't as we have one fit striker and we're absolute shite.
We can lend you some "strikers"...as defined by Russell Slade...

I wish we were as shite as Scunthorpe...

If we go down with this team then I'll be gobsmacked. Far more ability than the teams we've had of previous years.

To think I said before kick off yesterday “Scunny will only be two points behind us after today, but we’ll still have two matches in hand on em”

Sorry Oldham, and well played. Make that 5 points and two matches in hand

We'll lose today, Blackburn are invincible at Ewood Park against us. Won about 5 in a row against us.

Our record at Ewood Park is one of the worst head to head records of all 92 league clubs. 1 win 1 draw and 10 defeats despite us being in a similar league position in the majority, that record is quite ridiculous. Only Old Trafford is a worst hunting ground for us. In fact take United out for everyone and our record at Ewood is probably the worst out of any 2 teams in the whole football league.

We have better away records at Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, City etc...

Blackburn currently on the longest unbeaten home run outside of the Premier League, going back 6 months.

Celebrated like a cup final at the end, remember who's still top of the league.

Blackburn boasting about being top of L1 is like me going into a nursery and boasting that i'm the tallest
Their fans have been quite embarrasing on our forum, with one or two exceptions. Giddy with excitement that it had taken them until February to overtake little Shrewsbury and reminding us that we should bow down before massive Blackburn (by the way did we know they had once won/bought the Premier League? :£)

The contrast to Charlton fans, a club way bigger than Blackburn in mine and many peoples eyes, and who we beat on their own patch recently, was startling. The word humble doesn't seem to exist in Blackburn. I hope we keep pushing them all the way....

See I’m gonna be serious for here and I’m not wumming, when I went to Blackburn I thought their fans were sound. Congratulated Scunny on a 2-2 draw and were very complimentary about our team. This was in all the pubs I went to. Very enjoyable away day

I don't argue that the few real-life Blackburn fans I have met have all been decent but they have been older and perhaps realise where the club came from before they won the PL- maybe it's just the younger crowd more active online that have only known the PL years who are the nob-heads

Aye that sounds about right for Blackburn, you would think that massive chip would be long gone.
Here's hoping Shrewbury and Wigan win all their games in hand.

Good game between Blackburn and Wigan yesterday.

First goal felt slightly against the run of play but Wigan worked their way back into it well and deserved their point. A few bizarre refereeing decisions, mind, especially for Blackburn's second goal.

‘Giddy with excitment’ is hardly a true reflection of most of our fans and I haven’t seen a lot of boasting on here so you’ve said this to justify your inferiority complex. After the last few years of shite we’ve had to endure it’s nice to be top of any league again, even if it’s one we didnt want to be in. That said, we aren’t so good that promotion is guaranteed and I think Wigan are a better side. If we end up in the play offs it could be a struggle with the form of Plymouth and Rotherham. As for Charlton being ‘way bigger’ I’m not sure what you’re basing that on, because it certainly isn’t history. The 2 biggest clubs after us in this league are Bradford and Pompey imo. If you think that we should be grateful to be in this league, remind yourself when the last time we played you in the league was before this season. Just shows what a fall from grace we’ve had that no club is immune to as Pompey and Charlton fans will attest to.

Ok I have nothing against Blackburn fans but to say "the 2 biggest clubs after us" is mad. Pompey averaged a larger crowd in L2 than your highest crowd all season

Pompey L2 16/17 = 16,823
Blackburn Highest in L1 17/18 = 16,142

In fact a quick google shows us that from the moment you dropped out of the Prem, Portsmouth have had bigger crowds...

Do we really have to go through this again? Check the figures, us "buying the title" is an urban myth, usually peddled by the dingles and Preston fans with very large chips on their shoulders.

Basing size of a club solely on home crowds is extremely naive. It's a factor, but it's not the sole determinant.

Agreed and they have a bigger support than us, I wouldn’t deny that. But we have won more than them and a club size is not only it’s weekly attendance. Otherwise that’s like saying Newcastle are a bigger club than Chelsea

Well not really, because Chelsea can't find in any more people into the stadium. However, you both have large stadiums and Pompey fill out more seats that you do.

If Chelsea & Newcastle both had 100,000 seater stadium, who do you think would get more?

90% of a clubs size is the fan base in my opinion. Without them, you don't have a club. Without a trophy, you still have a club.

If Blackburn Rovers suddenly had 0 home attendances, how long would they last? For me the size of a club is the number of fans that attend & the revenue their fan base creates for the club. A trophy doesn't make you a big club, by that definition Rochdale are one of the biggest clubs in the country.

What irony? I don't remember any clubs accusing PNE fans of arrogance when we were down here.

You should just accept that on the whole, your fans are tossers.

Ok Gassy that’s your viewpoint (from the small club in Bristol). The revenue that a club makes is irrelevant in the PL and increasingly the championship too as it has become a smaller and smaller percentage of total revenue. Home attendances fluctuate depending on the league a team is in and how they are doing so by your measure the size of clubs change on a yearly basis

It's also hilarious that you try to deny Blackburn bought that title, without Jack Walker, you would have been a second tier club, instead you were breaking transfer records to buy Shearer.

What does it matter that I support the smaller club in Bristol? How in any way does that change my view point that Blackburn aren't bigger than Portsmouth?

I'm not talking about a % of any cost, I am talking about my view on what makes a club big or small - nothing to do with the % of total revenue. What makes any business big? The amount customers spend & the amount of customers they have. What happens if there aren't customers? There is no business.

If Bournemouth win the Premier League next season, does that make them equally as big as Blackburn? Are Leicester bigger than Spurs because they won the league?

And yes, clubs can naturally fluctuate. Now I'm not saying they literally become larger and smaller each season, but what I'm saying is you get a general feeling of a clubs size by their support.

Seeming as you really want to point out how we're the small club in Bristol, i'll use Bristol City as my example (I have no problem in admitting where we're smaller than others - funnily enough):
1. Bristol City in 2012 were a Championship team. They averaged 13,846 fans. They finished 20th that season. Last season they finished 17th and averaged 19,256. That's an increase of 28%. There is no doubt in my mind that Bristol City have grown as a club, like for like in the past 7 years.

Yes club attendances fluctuate on the league, which is why it's a good reason to compare like-to-like. Off the top of my head Pompey, Southampton, Leeds, Leicester, Sheffield Utd, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich all had 1/3 larger crowds than you've had this season. And all bar 1 haven't won the league. But in my opinion - all are bigger than Blackburn Rovers.

EDIT: By league I mean Premier League :)

Did Shearer and Sutton join Rovers for the prestige of playing for one of the worlds leading clubs or was it for the bucket loads of cash they'd be trousering? Yes, I know much of your title winning side were bought relatively cheaply and sold on for big money later but there's no denying that the players that scored the goals that propelled you to the title would normally have been well beyond the means of a club like Blackburn? I believe the Shearer fee broke the English transfer record by about 25%?

The whole "Blackburn bought the title" argument is boring. How many sides who've had success can say they did so without money? We did spend a fair bit of cash in the 90s, but so did the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle but they didn't win any league titles.

As for the match yesterday, it was very disappointing to draw after being 2-0 up. I thought we were very pedestrian in the second half and Wigan were good value for the point. I thought the ref had a stinker of a game but to blame him for us not winning would be a discredit to Wigan. I'd be surprised if our next match against isn't in the Championship next season.

The irony that you call us for having chips on our shoulders, while you make it quite obvious that you're extremely bitter about what we've achieved in the past 30 years.

Where is the bitterness? It's all in your head.

I'm just calling your fans out for being arrogant and im not alone.

You being good in the early to mid 90s is of no relevance to me but I find it funny that you get defensive about something that happened before you were born.

Just to clear up an earlier point, Chelsea cannot fill the stadium they have for European football.
If Newcastle and Chelsea had the same size stadium Newcastle would still get more because basically they are a big club with superb support.
The exact opposite of Chelsea.
