Everybody loves having a local pub. What do you like or dislike about yours?

For me, its that its always empty and takes no time at all to get served

On the other side I hate that they just rely on my customs to stay open. Big weight on my shoulders.

Pros - 200 metres away, sports channels, miners strike memorabilia scattered about, good seating arrangements, pool table and sizeable beer garden.

Cons - basic selection of beer and lager, landlord known UKIP supporter, no quiz night.

Pros - It's a Crown Carvery, so always decent grub available. Pool table, sports channels and some interesting clientele who are always in there.
Cons - 20 minute walk away and the lager is overpriced.

Pros: GOOD PUB. It's Fullers but got a fine beer selection, always 2/3 local ales on alongside the usual staples plus a reasonably interesting selection of beers on tap. Food's decent. It's cosy but also got a beer garden so a pretty good all year round hostelry.

Cons: Sometimes think it's got a bit of an identity crisis (difficult to cater to both the footy and foodie crowds I reckon). Also, always forget which nights are open mic and maudlin guitar man which are both UNWELCOME PRESENCES

Haven't got a local anymore as they are all too pricy to run so no one bothers. If I want a beer I have to wander into the town to a generic Wetherspoons or some such. Pretty depressing given there are now 5 ex-pubs which have now been converted to flats within 2 minutes walk of my front door.

I use Just Ales a new micropub that opened in Wells 4 months ago.
Pros - No jukebox, fruit machine or telly so it's a conversation pub. It only serves 6 local ales and 4 traditional Somerset cider no lager or top shelf.
Cons - All the seating outside is in the shade

Cons: They know how to charge

No local here either - it's now a Co-op. It was never particularly busy when it was a pub anyway and their busiest day was usually Xmas Day when it opened between 10am and 2pm.

There are four pubs about a mile or so away, though. One a village down from me, then the opposite way in another village there's a pub, a golf course with a bar/restaurant and a Sports and Social Club. I'm a member of the latter, but haven't been in for about 3 years. Only £7 a year and you can get that back in one afternoon with savings from a normal pub.

Pros: Excellent beer, friendly staff, nice interior, quiz night
Cons: Pretty pricey, often rammed which makes getting a table somewhat tricky, most of the cask selection are pretty lightweight and would be nice to have the option of something a bit stronger sometimes.

I don't actually have a local because I live on a boat and move around a lot. Next.
That sounds like fun,i had two holidays on narrowboats in the 90's and loved it.

I'm loving being back home in England, 5 local pubs all serving real ale within a 10 minute walk.

Pros - Marstons pub with a decent pint of pedigree, reasonable food

Cons - It's name, Potters bar makes me feel feel dirty just going in thanks to our red and white stripped neighbours
