I can't find the old mid-table thread, but I remember I got the wrong season in the title so I think I'll just start a new one...
Teams that probably should be here right now:
Derby:
Strap in Derby fans, welcome the most unentertaining season you've probably ever had!
Fulham:
You won't be here long. Once Cairney turns up you'll go flying up the table, at our expense.
Ipswich:
Now your early run's been and gone, enjoy a re-run of last season!
Nottingham Forest:
Same as Derby. At least you're not being Fawaz'd though.
Boro:
For the sake of my fantasy team, I hope you won't be here long. You shouldn't be here long. Not after signing every Championship quality striker in existence, anyway.
Hull:
The only chance you have of getting out of here is if Grosicki keeps playing like a god. And even then he'll be gone in January.
Millwall:
I give it 2 weeks. Then it'll be to the relegation thread. Though i'm not so sure if you'll actually go down.
Sheffield Wednesday:
Your time has been and gone. Enjoy mid-table for a couple of years (and being the 2nd best team in Sheffield!).
QPR:
Same as every year for you lot. Yawn.
Brentford:
Fuck knows how long you'll be here. No idea what you'll do this season to be quite honest.

Have you forgotten we were mid table last season too? And that we couldn’t score goals all season?

I work with a Forest fan and he always laughs when you mention Forest.
He says he stil can’t work out whether Forest are a good team with genuine chance of the playoffs
Or a poor team with relegation worries. He also says there’s been games where Forest have played well but unluckily lost and games where they’ve played poorly but luckily won.

Keeps telling me potentially good but so inconsistent, so he reckons mid table for Forest.

At least last season you weren't mid-table for a while (more in and around the relegation zone until Pearson went).

We’d scored 7 goals at this point last season. SEVEN! The same as Bolton have...

There was still hope last season mind. This season there is none from most fans. Some are just deluded.

Do you not remember Nigel Clough managing us?!

Nigel Clough was the same with us.
He played decent passing/ possession football but it was too slow and predictable.
It became a bit of a joke as you knew every game would be 0-0 at half time.
It was often like watching a tactical game of chess, interesting but a real lack of goal mouth action.

I always had a theory about Clough, that maybe he’s more intelligent than we think and he’s sussed the football management game.

For example if Clough came to Sheff Utd and
Year 1; Promoted to the Championship
Year 2: Promoted to the PL (what a great manager)
Year 3: Relegated back to the Champiomship and probably THE SACK.
So he’d have been in employment for 3 years.

However Clough policy seems to be very very slow progress and just do enough to keep him in a job.

Some of our fans were split and felt he was unlucky to lose his job at Sheff Utd.
In some respects I agree but he was far too cautious and over respectful of the opposition (even in league 1). We played a nice passing game under Clough, initially it was pleasing but eventually the fans got tired of having loads of possession but sideway and back passes going now where.

I could have written that last paragraph word for word, it is exactly what's currently happening at Hillsborough.
Even down to the split in fan opinion, as seen by a few scuffles amongst our own fans at the last couple of games.

At least there is passion (1 way or the other at present) Really hated the apathy we had for over a decade, biggest fear I have (in football terms) is a return to those dreadful days.

Sums us up pretty well. We have a soft underbelly and lack a pair of bollocks. With time Warburton will turn us into a good outfit. You can see the progress already though it is frustrating to watch us at times, with shed loads of the ball but no major conviction. A couple more transfer windows until we can judge him.

We won't be near either end of the table and that suits me for now, assuming the footy continues to be decent

Looks like I was wrong. Derby are well and truly out of this thread.

Derby are well and truly back in this thread. As we should be too now.

7 goals in a week, and Kermorgant just getting back to fitness.

4 wins out of 4 against teams from the Midlands.. Wolves up next after the international break.

Teams that have come into this thread between 2 weeks ago and now:
Norwich
A very average squad really, it wouldn't surprise me if you do an Ipswich and end up staying in the Championship for 373535336 years.
Preston:
90% of your team is injured by the looks of things, as soon as that injury crisis ends you could be threatening to get out of this thread I reckon.
Barnsley:
If you have an injury crisis, I'm not sure if you'll be in here long, but you have done better than I expected you to do at the start of the season.
Reading:
Bloody hell, how has Jaap Stam pulled that one out of his arse? That's kept him in work and you lot in this thread for a month or so at least I think.
Teams that have left this thread between 2 weeks ago and now:
Derby:
A good run for you lot, and the international break comes at a good time after that loss. Still reckon you'll be in this thread for most of the season.
Ipswich:
Would be surprised if come December you lot aren't in this thread. Your squad is the literal definition of average.
Nottingham Forest:
Similar to Ipswich really, though you're a bit better. You certainly have attacking quality, but it seems your defense is fucking useless at times.
Boro:
Probably a bit of debate as to whether they should be here or not. As they'll be in the play-offs when they beat Sunderland tommorow there not in this thread.
Sheffield Wednesday:
Similar to Boro, only 2 points off the play-offs so they aren't in this thread. They'll be back in a couple of weeks though I reckon.

HORRENDOUS PREDICTION OF THE WEEK:
Millwall:
I give it 2 weeks. Then it'll be to the relegation thread. Though i'm not so sure if you'll actually go down.

Firmly in the middle of the table in 12th, absolute sickener yesterday, Hull were beyond dreadful and did nothing all second half apart from hoof it up the pitch and wait for us to attack them again. Go up the pitch once, defensive howlers and they shithouse an equaliser. Same first half as usual, slow tempo no shot on target, go 1-0 down and start playing in the second half. Adthe Nuhiu has to start next week, he's the man to get the best out of Jordan Rhodes, with Hooper playing just in behind him, who shouldn't be playing at this level really.

Reading, Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday struggling just shows how varied this league can be. We spent shedloads in the summer (for once) and we've got worse. We're crying out for a striker, far too much pressure on Kermogant to deliver the goods when he is 36 and has obviously lost a yard of pace after his injury. It's alright having the likes of Aluko, Barrow and Swift, but we need somebody to put the ball in the bloody net.

Hopeful of being here the rest of the season.
Relegation more realistic than promotion.
Please just go now Carlos.

Now panicking that I shall be leaving this thread.
Having a recon mission on the Relegation thread, prior to becoming a fully paid up member.
We are absolutely shit atm.

This'd be the other Derby team then? Not the one that's second place right now? Surprised you haven't got Wolves and Birmingham City in the list.

Another solid point away from home at a promotion contender, 3 clean sheets in a row just need to start adding goals to it which is lacking considering what we have missing it's not a surprise. Big game against Birmingham at home on Saturday now, win that and we'll be really comfortable in the mid table battle with the Blades joining shortly.
