1400 York at Dagenham, Staying up on the last day of our first season back, unbelievably nervous and the relief when we scored was unreal, ridiculous celebrations

After thinking we'd fucked it 3 days before, Matt Green scoring here on 91 minutes to take us into the last day with it all in our own hands was quite incredible. You can see Adam Murray falling to his knees in the background, He broke down in tears, The season before after York beat us, He was man of the match and I was in the exec lounge and he had to come up and do an interview. The bloke was broken, But he promised that the following season we would go one better.

I appreciate if you have never been in the Conference then you won't understand the feeling to get out of it. I don't think it's as strong as it was but bar the year Fleetwood went up I think 12'/13 was the strongest it has been so to win it was brilliant. When the ball hit the net here you just knew that we were finally going to return to the league..

I did say then I'd take 5 years of finishing bottom 5 aslong as we stayed up but I didn't fucking mean it!

Agree with George & ComeOnIrene for ours, i'd also add the following,

Our win over Grimsby at Wembley has to be up there aswell, to get out of the conference at the first time of asking was massive & a huge relief more than anything I think!

Beating City to the third division title (now League 1) in 1989/90 is a moment remembered very fondly by alot of our fans

Always liked the Gas ... chuffed that you managed to get back into the league a little bit quicker than the County. Multiply your relief by 1,000 and you can understand what we felt like.

Getting up at 2am in the morning, (remembering that we are 12 hours ahead of UK time) to watch the Conference play off game, on some crap web site and trying not to wake the house when we WON. It is very hard to shout quietly

Checking Fleetwood result to find us still a league 2 club. Was a worried Womble while computer booted up that morning.

Getting to 2 games last season, it was a bit of a shit that we lost both, (Hartlepool, Stevenage)

First ever trip to Wembley to win the Freight Rover in 87 against Bristol City will always last long in the memory.

In more recent times when Green despatched the penalty to bring us back from the conference on the last day against Wrexham the feeling of relief to be out of the conference was unreal.

Exeter at home second last game of last season.

We were seriously looking down the barrel of a gun but we managed to get the points to make us safe. Sheer relief but possibly the best achievement ever. Yeah we've had big stadium games and beaten a fair few 1st Div/Premiership sides but just to stay in the league against all odds does it for me.

Apart from when we won the Sunderland Shipowners Cup in 1972. :bg1:
