What’s the deal with Suttons 3G pitch? Can they afford to rip it up, relay some grass and the loss of income from the 3G facility that entails?
Just heard a little something that Sutton going up might not be as straight forward as them winning the league. Surely not?!
Unless things have changed in the last couple of seasons, any NL Club with a 3G/4G pitch has to agree to rip it up on promotion i.e. they can't refuse promotion on the grounds of it being too expensive to do so.

I thought it was the club could refuse to rip up their pitch if they were to be promoted, but it would mean they'd be demoted to the North or South instead. Not sure how feasible that would really be given that it would potentially impact promotion and relegation at three different levels of the pyramid, mind.

So basically they're not at risk of going belly up and don't need a loan?

They were quids in from the initial money, they spunked it already?

That genuinely reads like they’ve decided that losing Boreham Wood would inflict no long term damage on the sport.

As much as no one likes them, it’s still a bit shit. It certainly seemed to framed as the loans being available for anyone who wanted one.

You'd think they want to give out a loan to BWood if they're in a good financial position to repay it?

It seems to me that Sport England still aren't happy with the National League at how they handled the first grant and all the clubs the profited from it could be overlooked for the loan.

They were quids in so maybe that is a way of smoothing things out a little. I wonder when the rest of us start to find out

We seemingly have taken out two mortgage loans according to Companies House, I have no clue when it comes to financials and what it means, or even if it's linked? I think people are unpacking the information

You will be ok. The government has been paying for all the players you don't want and as you are probably still millions in debt, you will get a loan.

Looks like a right mess to me does that proposal. Also voting to cut revenue even further next season by us all having one less home gate....
If 2 Southern teams win promotion the National South will be left with just 19 teams, maybe 20 depending what they do with Dover.

Wouldn't they then simply move some NLN teams to the south (I'd guess Gloucester and Brackley)?

The National North & South were meant to be expanding to 24 teams before covid hit. So now might be the time to actually go through with it.....the problem will be deciding which teams to promote from step 3.

Thought that promotion from step 3 had been knocked on the head for this season (Anthony Hughes (FA alliance committee member) interview - see Ollie Bayliss twitter feed).

You can't start a league with potentially 19-20 teams, when originally it was planned to be 24 by now. It would just lead to yet another season of no one getting relegated.

I'm sure there's examples of that happening in the past, but even so, you could delay expansion for a year. Or include the bottom team in step 3 playoffs, or something.

When the season was curtailed last year the reorganisation was postponed despite around three quarters of the season's scheduled matches having been played. Bearing in mind the ructions then it would hardly make sense to go through with it now with some step three clubs having played fewer than one fifth of their scheduled games.

(Many thanks for your welcome, your Lordship!)

What if you combined all the results from the past two (abandoned) seasons to make PPG tables?

The FA March last year

"All football in England below the three divisions that make up the National League will end immediately and all results will be expunged." (note the"expunged" bit)

With that and Andrew Hughes' comments think that idea is a dead parrot!

We are debt free post takeover but ok.
It’s actually not the government, it’s you, the taxpayer paying for them, so thanks for that too.

I thought they had specifically used the 'curtailed' terminology this season as opposed to null and void, knowing that they were intending the restructure and some clubs would end up moving up a level etc?

I was referring to last season and the possibility of combining results. This season there have been hardly any games played.

That is just Singh ensuring that he has tightly secured his £2m+ in loans against any assets/future payments/goodwill etc Pools have/will receive.

He didn’t/couldn’t do this at Darlo back in 2012, this resulted in him being an non-preferential creditor and received something like 10p in the £1 when he put us in to administration.

Good to see he has smartened up a bit.

"A detailed proposal for a combined Step 2 mini-league has been submitted to the FA. The plan will be considered by the FA Alliance Committee who meet tomorrow. Any decision would then require ratification from the FA Council."

2 spots?

Wouldn't that indicate relegation for Dover?

Most likely, unless Parmenter has a change of heart in which case we're in trouble.
We were meant to play them on 23rd but we’ve now rearranged a game v Aldershot on that date which to me indicates they’re gone
