The rate at which former Carlisle players are falling out of favour at Huish Park is increasing. Took Paddy Madden a whole year to fall out of favour while Bezza was considered surplus to requirements by the end of his first season. Poor Mark Beck hasn't even made it to Christmas. Whoever they sign from us this summer is likely to leave Carlisle and be on the transfer list at Yeovil before he reaches Keele services for a mid-journey shit.
At first glance this seems like a winnable fixture, and indeed it is one we should be winning. However so was Newport and home and they remain the only team who have prevented us scoring in the league this season so I don't really care to try and call which way this will go.
For what it's worth I think we will win this, perhaps not convincingly but that won't matter so much. We'll keep ourselves on the shirt-tails of the play-off race until Christmas and then either kick on and enter the race-proper or have a disastrous January and resign ourselves to a mid-table spot we'd have happily taken had it been offered to us before the season began.
Think this could be our last game sans-Jabo, our record without or main man has been:
P__W__D__L__F__A__Pts
7__3___2__2__9__9__11
Which you know what, isn't all that bad really, considering most people in this division probably had us down as a one-man-team who would find it impossible to score goals without Jabo. If we'd had 11 points after 7 games this season we'd have been 9th. As it was we had 12 points, and were... 9th. There's no shame in having a talisman who you are weaker without, I'm sure most teams in this division have a player in their squad who they need fit to seriously challenge. I think we've improved in some respects as a team without Jabo simply because we haven't been able to expect him to score constantly, we've had to step things up a level, play in different ways and bring in new players. Add Jabo back into the mix and we can improve on that.
