Believe me lads you've got a cracking defender in Mark Ellis, he took some time to settle with us and partner Dugdale and Davis whilst he was here when he signed for us but was a very good defender who was unlucky to be released.

He grew into the game but got caught out a few times. Nearly cost a goal when he got knocked off the ball second half.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt today with it being his debut.

Even at 2-0 none of us expected anything other than a defeat and I think that includes the players. Therein lies the problem.
Also when 2 defenders go off injured and the best option is to put your one striker at centre back then you know you're in big trouble.

Well Mark Ellis gets the assist for Raynes' first goal. The commentators were fairly lenient on him after the game, saying that our system is difficult for a defender to adjust to, it's taken Raynes a while to get comfortable with the amount of passing and even then we got punished when he slipped before their first. Some of the stuff we do in our own defensive third is just ludicrous. Satisfying when it works and hugely entertaining when we go on to win the game, but outrageous in all other respects.

Can someone explain me what was going on when we had a throw-in, and as Danny Grainger went to take it, Connor Roberts (who throughout the match was an utter shit-head of the highest calibre) ran by and knocked it out of his hands; and all the ref did was order it be retaken and give Roberts a talking to?

I think we must have the most negative-thinking fanbase in the country, especially on our messageboard. Some of the posts on there make it sound like we've been beaten 3-2 having been 2-0 up, I know we were dodgy at the start of the game but after that we were dominant.

Some of the loan players Curle has brought in have been great additions.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
it was a strange game...I know easy after game but even at 2-0 you sort've sensed we could win that game and Yeovil were just a goal from collapsing, they never oozed any confidence the entire game even when 2 up they seemed to be slow, sluggish and worried.

Mind we tried our best to help them win, that first 10 minutes was diabolical all across the park. I disagree with most here I liked Ellis he won quite a lot of things through most of the game, it was not his fault that Raines put in the single worst defensive performance I have ever seen from any defender who has put on a Carlisle shirt...............he was absolutely awful, and yet goes and bangs in 2 goals to get MOM....:dk: To be fair to Raines he did at least be honest enough to say he was crap.

the switch to 4-4-2 was crucial, Hery led to his own removal with 3-4 shocking passes but it was correct to get balance with Grainer and gillead on either win...........I personally like that midfield 4 it is what I would like tried for afew games. Our big downfall for me (again disagreeing with people here) was our 2 forwards were awful and did absolutely nothing which meant we struggled to get real pressure on the game for spells. I wanted Asamoah on a lot earlier than they did.

but set pieces won it for us, we do have some superb corners thesedays, it got us deservedly out of jail in the end, we did deserve the win as dominated large periods, but our panic stricken collapse when 3-2 up was abit worrying we really need to sort the defensive side.

4-4-2 with Iberhe and Ashamoah up top................that midfield behind and maybe Miller on righty side with Atkinson with ellis in middle...........that for me could be top 3.
