Scoring isn't a problem for us, we've scored more than a lot of teams in the top half. It's the other end that's a problem. The reverse fixture demonstrated this.

Can't see Carlise getting anything from this, i'd expect a 2-0 home win at least.

Is there a good possibility after Tuesday that it can be 'Win and Burton go up' Vs 'win and Carlisle Guaranteed survival' ????

If so it would make it quite interesting.

This is a game I'd actually thought we could win but for one thing...............Curle.

with Burton pretty much 1 win off promotion I can see them now having that horrible 'stumbling over the finish line' scenario afew teams get at this stage, finally the cocky, confidence they have all season is swapped with abit of nerves as they realise its bloody close.

If we could go there with nothing to lose, a game we'd expect nothing and therefore just 'go for it' I could see us getting something but alas....................Mr 'we have to worry about the opposition first than let them worry about us' Curle will go 9-0-1 full on defence, hope for a 0-0 till 80th minute then maybe go 8-1-1 to be more forward thinking.

Don't think Guaranteed survival for us is possible, though it could be virtually guaranteed as we could end up 9 points clear with 3 to play. Think I heard it could be promotion for Burton though... teams love getting promotion/championship by playing us.

yeah looking at it a lot of chance for Burton it being win and promoted, it only needs Wycombe or Bury to not win.

but yep we cannot at all looking at it, but if they all failed to win Tuesday it would be a massive boost to go and win

Originally had this down as a comfortable Burton win, but now I think we could grab a point.

However, I wouldn't be too disappointed if we were to lose considering Burton are likely to go up as Champions.

What on earth makes anyone think we can get a point from this match?

Yeah there's a glimmer of hope because it's Burton Albion not Bayern Munich, but come on... look at the league positions, look at our record against teams at the top end, look at our recent performances, look at our defensive record, look what player is suspended, look at our lack of ideas recently.
Absolutely everything points to a comfortable Burton win.

I admire your optimism, and every fan hopes we can pull something off, but you're going to be disappointed if you think we're getting a point.

Burton Albion 4-1 Carlisle United

We were no where near as shit that season and we were coming off the back of 2 excellent away performances. This time we're coming off the back of a run of poor performances.

Doubt too many expected that result though, and same can be said about Donny that season, much better than Burton are this season.

Nothing wrong with a bit of hope HG, doubt we will get a point but it's not impossible.

Nothing wrong with hope. But there's a difference between hoping we'll get a point and actually thinking we will get a point.

We went to donny full of confidence after a good performance and point at Bramall lane followed by a good performance and win at Oldham.

This is different. We're not playing well and there's still a gutless, shit ourselves vibe around our team.

What about Carlisle 2 - 2 Wolves last season? The gap in quality there was much, much bigger than it will be against Burton and they were playing to keep up with Orient. Anyone can pull it out the bag on their day, it's unlikely but it can happen.

Even last season we were capable of the odd performance against top sides in the division. Brentford in the cup, Brentford in the league, wolves, Swindon.

This season we've proved that we're not. Our record absolutely stinks against the top sides. That's why Wednesday is written off as zero points as far as I'm concerned.

Northampton is the only one that comes to mind this season but that was a top, top away performance. Dempsey was captain that night if I remember correctly? Definitely worth giving that a go again, not that Curle would drop his mate and lose the entertainment of Grainger danger.

Na Grainger will have been captain that night at Northampton. The only time I remember Dempsey being captain was when Grainger was suspended (can't remember the oppo but it was at home) And Northampton aren't a top side in this league, Burton are a different prospect all together.

Carlisle have a chance, of course they do, anything is possible in 90 minutes of football and that's why we all love the game.
Everything does point to an Albion win but it is not guaranteed. I expect us to win and Hasselbaink will have prepared the team correctly to focus on the game.
An interesting aspect for both sides is that we play a day later than the rest which could alter the perspective. If results go Albion's way Tuesday it is possible a win could achieve promotion and defeats for Tranmere and Cheltenham would make life a little easier for the Cumbrians.
I went down the club shop today to get tickets for the last home game against Northampton(its all ticket) and for Morecambe and coach travel. I had to go back twice as friends kept ringing me before I could get out of the car park to get them tickets, made me laugh because some of them are Derby fans ! Tickets were flying out like one-o plus season ticket renewals.
All this leads me to think there could be a few more in the ground on Wednesday,. How many are Carlisle likely to bring ?

I can see a draw as the nerves maybe present.

Depends if we see some of the generous defending Carlisle have offered out this year or whether they can tighten up. They are capable of a draw I think.

Well our only class central defender is suspended, so I can see us being quite generous.

Our best result this season was without Troy so it can be done. Meppen the weapon is back fit so he could slot in if we're going for 3-5-2 again, as could Buddle. Rest of the team should stay the same i'd say.

All a matter of opinion I guess, but for me our best performances came with Troy beside Thirlwell in defence. 3 consecutive wins, 3 clean sheets.

We need to beat you tomorrow Carlisle. Even if we do we are not up so I can see us trying even harder then if we had got promoted tonight by default.
Hoping for a good crowd. Depending on how many u bring we should get 5000

I would doubt we will get that many in Bartonyellow, the glory hunters will only come to the last match against Northampton. We couldn't even get that figure for last years play off semi final against Southend. 3,500 to 4,000 I reckon, would be happy for 5,000 mind. A few Derby fans I know asked me to get tickets for the Northampton game , told them we were playing tonight and they just weren't interested.
If we can get the 3 points tonight that will give us a 4 point advantage over the Shrews and 8 on Wycombe with 9 to play for. That would leave us in a very commanding position.

Well the Derby fans go jog on then and go watch their own team fall apart in the play offs again....

If rather 4000 of loyal fans than an extra 1000 standing their on Facebook not really interested

Yes same here Bartonyellow, hopefully they will blow the play offs again and lose the manager and have a disastrous season next season.
We will be an attractive proposition to the local floating supporters if we are in league 1 next season. Only one division below the mighty super rams !

Think we might stick with the 3-5-2... needs to be a dogged performance.

Meppen-Walter should be back I hear, and not before time really with Archibald-Henville out for the rest of the season. Show 'em what you're made of Courtney.

I think I'm not alone when I say there are players I'd put in the back three ahead of Grainger... Buddle perhaps, Atkinson, Thirlwell even, but we all know Grainger starts.

Does anyone know why Atkinson wasn't picked to start against Dagenham? I thought he looked quite useful at right back against Pompey and figured he'd be our right back for the rest of the season, but Curle put Young back in. It could be that Curle doesn't view Atkinson as a wing-back, but then Young is almost the definition of 'not-a-wing-back' as he can't go past anyone and can't cross it. Young's skills are limited to tackle an clear (provided he doesn't get caught out of position, which playing him as a wing back only increases the chances of).

We are a bit short of wide-players, with Amoo still out, Monakana out. I think Danny Kearns is fit but you can't really play a left-winger if you have no right-winger. Brough at least does a decent job of getting up and down the line and putting crosses in.

Rigg's energy to be injected onto the field at the most opportune moment.

If courtney plays, he won't be on the right side of the 3 CBs, considering O'Hanlon played as the RCB on sat I'd expect him to stay there.

I'm not too sure Curle sees Courtney as a defender anymore, which is a shame and a waste of potential in my opinion.

Young put in some good crosses against Dagenham. Atkinson was woeful at accrington

I suppose it depends on whether Dicker's return to fitness and the signings of Griffith and Kennedy have changed his mind. At the time Courtney was used as a midfielder it was really due to necessity as pretty much every other option we had in midfield would look to attack all the time and we desperately needed midfielders who would cover our defenders. Now we have three such midfielders available to us.
