You do realise ANYONE can tear their ACL if they fall awkwardly and twist their knee with weight on top don’t you?

Correct me if I’m wrong but unless Asante has torn that ACL previously then any of his other injuries have absolutely ZERO bearing on the fact he tore it

This is correct. ACL injuries are, by and large, almost completely random and unlinked to anything else.

I think you might go up mate to be honest, that manager has the look of a winner about him, clear today he's not afraid of making big decisions early and that Wooton is a proper poacher. Seems like he always scores against us tbh. I hope you do it

Woots would be playing League One or above if he had any poaching ability at all tbf, he must just have your number somehow. He’s usually a fantastic target man but misses loads of easy chances.

You do realise that the human body is connected through various muscles, tendons and ligaments, connected to a skeleton hope I haven’t hit a nerve.

Other than the Imps, I think that's the best game I've watched this season.

I'd be surprised if Notts got promoted playing like that, though. Don't get me wrong, exciting to watch but they were too suspect at the back, looked very busy in midfield and getting the ball into the final third without seeming good enough in and around the box, and final ball from wide areas seemed fairly poor on the whole. Surprised how little pressure they put the 'keeper under after his injury although having said that, I thought Chesterfield did well today.

On one hand, it was a bit suicidal playing such a high line but on the other, if Burchnall wants to play a certain way it's not quite as simple as just dropping the defence back 10 yards to help Ellis because that creates other issues further forward so I don't think he can be criticised too much for that. He's probably got Ardley cloggers at the back to work with.

If the 'keeper isn't injured and Chesterfield kept doing what they were in the first half, I think they'd have come through that. They protected him after the injury.

Honourable mention to the defender auditioning for Strictly at the back stick for the goal. He had no idea which way to turn.

You’ve missed the point I was making initially so that’s the end of this conversation, thanks for your input

I think that’s probably fair, but would also say that, of all the teams in the play-offs, Chesterfield’s style is the one that we struggle with the most. Having come through that, I think we’ve got a chance.

I don’t think IB has any thoughts about changing the wildly attacking approach to be honest, so we’re just going to have to enjoy the chaos and see what happens.

They lose when up against someone less arrogant than Rowe, basically.

Hmm, gotta say I struggle to see us winning two more games against tough opposition playing like that, although whoever got through that game gets a big boost for next week.

I’ve never felt as genuinely sorry for another team as I did for Chesterfield at the end, must have been a gutter to lose, going to be challenging next season without a doubt.

Thought we were ok really, Tyson got in because it was basically attack v defence second half, we were camped on the halfway line for most of it. Other than that and an inevitable late rally, Chessie didn’t offer too much in the 2nd 45. And it started before Mongomery’s injury imo.

Anyway, as Luke says, fantastic game. Hard lines for Chessie but I’ve no doubt they will be challenging again next season.

Once we went back to a proper 352 and took Rawlinson off we looked much more balanced.
We are a bit lightweight defensively but we deserved the win overall I think, second half we had the bulk of the play, won most second balls and generally pressed Chesterfield back.
Having said that, Tyson should have sunk us.
Thought Ellis was an absolute monster and Chicksen was the classiest player on the pitch, immaculate today.
Rowe didn't do much but got his goal although keeper looked a bit limp writer from where I was sat.
Proper cup tie of a game and you'd need a heart of stone not to feel for the Chesterfield players at the end, who looked broken.

Play-offs at brutal.

Only just seen that the Magpies beat the immorals. Well done Notts County.
Do you know, I could have predicted who'd like this post before I even looked...

Them Wrexham bunch have a very strange resentment towards us, and it’s ever since we took that ‘shit and lazy’ striker Adi Yussuf off of them

Obviously that’s nothing more than a coincidence of course...

my antipathy towards Chesterfield goes back to the FA Cup game In 1997. The underhand way Rowe went about signing Yussuf is just another brick in the wall.

Also you lot in here cannot take a joke, you just take offence at the drop of a hat and start crying.

I had/have a strange split feeling of being gutted for their players, who gave absolutely everything (and fans tbf who I have nowt against), and laughing at James Rowe. Something about him I just find really unlikeable.

That Chesterfield manager is a knob. There really isn't any other way of looking at it.

I don't personally have anything against Chesterfield as a club and never really paid to much attention to all that furloughing stuff.

Oh it’s a view I’d formed long before today, although that interview didn’t do much to change things haha.

It just gets bit old mate you know, it's the same old fucking shit over and over. It's ok for the first thousand times I see some comment about furlough or whatever else, the next thousand it loses it's shine a bit. And it is pretty targeted to be fair against Chesterfield in here by the same specific bunch all.the.time. I don't get it it's actually really weird, but you carry on bud if banging the same old dead horse over and over is amusing to you I guess

Jesus Christ lads you won and you’re through, why are you getting so worked up about what Rowe said or didn’t say?

He’s clearly hurting in the interview which shows he’s actually arsed, and of course he’s got chesterfield tinted specs on. If you were expecting a completely rational interview from him moments after losing in the last minute of a huge play off game then you’re very naive

Personally I enjoyed the interview as it shows he cares... something we’ve not had from a manager in a long time. I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says, but I still enjoy the fact he’s hurting just as much as us fans are

Woahhhh what do you mean it’s not funny???

EnglishRed seems to think that we’re missing the hysterical humour in being called ‘Cheaterfield’ or ‘Chesterfurlough’ or ‘Vaccine Robbing B*stards’ and whatever other witty and original name that’s been thrown our way countless times in the past 10 months

It's a weird one because it's not the first time he's done that either. I mean he wasn't wrong, it was a dive and shouldn't have been given, but it's not like the entire game hung on that one decision, just defend it properly. I think he was probably just wound up still, but yea it's worrying if he thinks that's the only reason we lost!

We've even tried to have a laugh along with it to be fair as well, but it's like some annoying kid on a plane constantly kicking the back of your seat .
