Had a look at work and we've got 100/1 on Preston to win promotion. To be fair that isn't bad... if they did manage to sneak into the playoffs you couldn't really bet against them.

Congrats to Newcastle and Brighton, without doubt the best 2 sides this season. Crazy that we've even been competing (gentle reminder that our record transfer fee is still just £1.8m). We really need to get back to some reasonable form before the play offs. It could time well for us with our injuries all back in less than 2 weeks now.
I think we'll finish 4th. Hello Leeds in the semi's... :mell::fing:

Nah you'll finish 3rd I reckon. Still twists and turns though. Two weeks ago we were secure and on Tuesday there's a fair chance Wednesday (as shit as they are atm) will gain points on us again and we're sweating with games against Preston and Newcastle afterwards.

Tbh I can't se us winning the play-offs but if we're there, there's going to be needle all the way through most likely  Managed to somehow pick up a rivalry with fucking Reading if that's even possible!

Only saw the first half but did seem like Reading deserved the win - created some decent chances and the winner was well taken (Green might have done better?)

We're just so much worse with Cooper at CB. Beggars belief that we've decided to go an entire season desperate that our only two centre halves who are good enough don't get injured or suspended. We literally had no defenders on the bench tonight. Now we have to manage to get Jansson's 3 match ban out of the way before any potential play-off matches as we certainly aren't going up without him available if we get there.

Second half we were better but still not good enough. Thankfully Cooper's gonna get a ban retrospectively so Jansson will have to come back in regardless of any issues he has with Monk - but like I say, he's still got to pick up his 2 bookings soon so we'll miss him for 3 games soon enough and be back to square one - just got to hope we're secure in the top six when he is out.

I'd still take Reading in the semis and feel quietly confident with a fit squad. Like I say, can't see us winning all in all though.

As for Green, I don't think you can blame him really...looks a bit bad when he got a good hand to it but it would have been an unbelievable save if he kept it out - probably looks worse in slow-mo, all happened quickly.

I'd happily take Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday in the play-offs. Fulham are the only team i'd definitely not want us to play. Huddersfield are better than us, but I think we could take them with a bit of luck.

To me it looks like Brighton and Newcastle are up, just fighting it out to see who wins the league.

I think Leeds, Reading and Huddesfield are play off teams and I think it's between Fulham, Preston and Norwich. Think Sheffield Wednesday have faltered. Going to put my money on Fulham.

Incredibly long shot, but are Villa too far behind - in really excellent form atm.....

Hope its Reading that get promoted, as I want as many local teams in the league as possible.

VERY long shot, but yes, you're correct. We (oddly considering how our season had gone before the past couple of months) are certainly coming into the conversation. Think we've left it too late though, and honestly, we'd be better staying down for another season regardless, this squad would get slaughtered in the PL. We shall see. It would take an awful lot to go right and very little (if anything) going wrong for us to make it this season.

What a tough tough league the Championship is. We started the campaign losing the first two games and i was thinking oh shit, here we go. We dug in, grinded out results and deserve to go up. Credit to Huddersfield and the other play off teams for pushing us all the way. Would like to see Hudders go up through the play off's.

We're going to win every game and sneak into 6th. We look unbeatable at the moment.

Villa would have to win every game and still hope for a bit of a favour. Looks like 75 is going to be a minimum this year. I think we all knew they'd turn it around but it's too late for them. With Fulham's goal difference too, I think Preston have it to do now as well. Wouldn't want to bet against the current top six given the form.

EDIT: Having said that, Fulham's run-in looks difficult. Derby, Norwich, Huddersfield and Wednesday their remaining away games. Villa and Brentford at home too.

we were awful, I hate doom mongering but I seriously hope this rumoured spat with jansson is bullshit and it is a injury

bit weird mind, anyway now cooper has his 3 match ban due atleast we get jannson back for 1 game before he's banned for 3 yay!

I can see Reading finishing above us. Obviously I'll take this back if they don't beat Blackburn midweek but their last 2 games have been really impressive just as everyone was expecting them to slip out of the top 6 finally.
I'm not too confident for the play offs right now either, I can see us really struggling if the onus is on us at home in the 2nd leg... but with 3 key players back by then hopefully we'll be ready.

We've beaten all 3 of the other teams in the playoffs at the Madejski (as well as Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich and Preston) so I would be confident that we would be very competitive in a two-legged playoff against any of these teams.

I think what may not help us is that the away leg could be first. We're poor away from home, especially against the better teams, and I would expect us to go into the second leg behind on aggregate, which may cause the opposition to just sit back on us and make it very difficult to come back from.

Fulham (A) in a play-off with 6,000 Reading in the away end would be utter carnage.

Yeah Reading seem one of those sides where the first goal is crucial. I'd be confident of winning with a lead but not easy to come from behind against.

I shouldn't be so pessimistic really, we've been as good as pretty much anyone in the league statistically for the majority of the season. I just never feel we're going to really impose ourselves on teams. Having said that, we find a way of winning more often than not and our excellent fitness levels/resolve will come into play in an extended season. We generally finish games strongly when others seem to be out on their feet so the potential for extra time would probably suit us more than perhaps a couple of other sides.

Our next 3 away games are Leeds, Huddersfield and Newcastle. You can write us off now.

Well you weren't when we twatted you 3-0 a few weeks ago.
Nope, still was.

You only have to look at the gap you had to recover, and the fixtures you had left, to see it was near impossible. Go back on the last page and you can see the odds (after you had beaten us) and everyone was in agreement, other than Preston fans.

Near impossible to recover a 6 point gap with 8 games left. Have you ever watched the Championship before? Shit like that happens every season.

Aye, closing a 6pt gap in 8 games isn't exactly unthinkable, especially with Wednesday's form.

Needed a win on Saturday though, that run of away games looks too difficult, so maximum points at home was a must really.

Fulham are looking good, wouldn't be shocked if we finished above Wednesday though.

Haven't looked at theirs but they have a banker 3pts on Tuesday which could put them back on track.

Just seen that they have Fulham at home last game of the season :ohm:

Rotherham away isn't a banker for us, considering both our current form and it is their big Derby game and they have no pressure and nothing to lose. We should win but a defeat is very plausible. Agree a win may get us back on track however defeat would probably be the end of our hopes and probably the end of Carlos reign. Quite sad after the football and genuine belief he brought to us last season.

I've got a feeling Rotherham are going to turn over the owls tomorrow. What's going on Walkley_Owl ? At least you will have a Sheffield Derby next season.
