Was in the transfer thread mate.
Yeah I suggest you reread it. I said he should do well for Portsmouth because of the system they play, but it would be unrealistic to expect a play to suddenly start scoring in every game virtually having not done so barely for 2 seasons.

Ok I'll hold my hand up. Can't let Kenny get flogged yet again. It was me. I said I'd be underwhelmed if I was a Pompey fan and we'd signed him.

Get with the zeitgeist, Belize. Deflecting blame on to others is the new way of the world, apparently.

What the fuck is going to happen now?

Luton are flying, but surely they have to encounter a blip at some point.. surely..

Pompey are right in the middle of theirs, we have to right it on Saturday or we risk losing all momentum

Barnsley appear to be back playing the football that made them look the most dangerous team in the league early on (maybe I'm wrong, especially after that draw to Oxford?)

Sunderland have drawn half of their bloody games but still lost just two..

Charlton look consistently like they're just waiting for their chance to spoil the party

It's gonna be real close it seems. From the Pompey perspective, I think we're still able to turn it back around - first half aside against Luton, we've looked a lot more like our early season selves in the last two games, and our squad is slowly regaining its depth with signings and key players returning from injury. It wasn't helped by injuries, but it's amazing how much the boat was rocked by Ben Thompson's recall.. but, slowly, we appear to be getting ourselves together; if Bogle can be consistently as good as he was last night he could make a huge difference, he looked like everything in a striker we've missed all season. One or two "decent" signings tomorrow and I'll be as positive as I can be in our current situation, which would be a general feeling of "well, maybe we can get our shit back together".

Stendel dropped a bollock with the tactics against Oxford and admitted as much, had he set out the same as in previous games we would more than likely have come away with all three points.

If we don’t lose any key players in the next 24 hours or so then I’m quite confident we’ll be challenging right to the end. It’s not a given we don’t lose anyone though with genuine interest in Pinnock and Moore yet to go away.

We are absolutely going to have a blip at some point - that’s what happens every season. That said I expected us to have that spell in January and we came out unscathed... almost! February looks tricky but March could be where we really motor down and put ourselves on the brink.

FWIW we were actually further ahead of Accrington than now at the same point last season. But the players look incredibly galvanised; they look determined to finish the job. We only need 30 points from the last 16 games and were there.

Don't worry Pompey, you play us next week. You'll be sure to turn it around at HP!

Hopefully, Prof. But we don't have a great record at your place. How's the lovely Mr Adams these days?

Jack Whatmough has done his knee again and is out for the season; that is huge for us. Apart from the fact it’s awful that one of our home grown players was in the form of his career so far and then suffered his third serious knee injury, our back four of Thompson, Whatmough, Clarke and Brown has been the foundation of our success so far - as soon as one got injured we suddenly lost that solidity that made us so difficult to beat (Nathan Thompson at the turn of the year). Burgess has played twice since Jack came off and though he is a decent player, he always has a mistake in him and he’s already made a few, most notably for Doncaster’s goal on Saturday. Very concerned about our chances of autos now, the losses (and lack of proper replacement) of Ben Thompson and now Jack could be the key downfalls of our season.

But we’ll see, we are still well in it after all, and look like we could be very strong in attack now.

Pompey just having a shitty run of luck. That's a real kick in the teeth for the lad and club.

Getting somewhere near being back to his pissboiling best. I took 7 trains starting at 5:30am to get to Peterborough last weekend - all worth it for the last minute winner and Adams proclaiming how he always gets one over on Fergie.

Seems as if it's a decent time to play your lot. Such a shame we don't wake up till January.

Still fancy you on Saturday if you've got any pace up top.

Definitely a good time to play us. We're still waiting for that comeback performance where the new boys click, but losing Whatmough for the season is a big blow for us. I think some of the good luck we had in the first half of the season with team stability has started to disappear.

Didn't learn much from the cup replay defeat this week. None of January's new boys were available for various reasons. All / most of them should be available this week and will have had a week or so to bed in. However, I'm sure the best manager in the known universe will be well up for de-stabilising the Good Ship Pompey once more.

Ecstatic at our current form and how we've driven on in the face of losing Jones and a really tough January. However........maybe I'm a pessimist but I do have a few concerns.

Clearly the players are galvanised and playing well on pride and commoradre. We also have great depth but does Mick have the tactical and technical nouse when we hit that blip and need to switch it up. I think so and hope so - but we dont really know. We've looked a little shakier lately, both going forward and at the back, since the pitches deteriorated and they'll get worse before they get better.

We're not far, if at all clear, with two teams real close. Barnsley bang in form like us and on our tails and Sunderland can go above us if they heavily win their games in hand.

Amazing it can be so tight, considering we've five wins on the bounce and are 19 unbeaten. Credit to Pompey for the lead they built and Barnsley and Sunderland for keeping us honest. Far from over, wouldn't be shocked to see Pompey come again either.

Top 6 finalised, with Luton and Barnsley going up automatically.

Anyone’s game in the play-offs but I reckon we’ll do it

The pitches point is an interesting one as that was a factor in our little wobble at this time last year. We couldnt adapt our play when conditions weren't conducive to playing out of the back. Seemingly we are a little better at that this season, yesterday was a pretty bad pitch for a side who likes to pass it but we did well and still managed to control the game. Similar at Shrewsbury and of course the Portsmouth game where it was snowing.

We are bound to have a wobble in us, I keep thinking its going to happen and then they prove me wrong though. Looking ahead the fixtures seem kind to us with us having got the quote unquote "tougher" games out of the way against the top sides - we have a great opportunity ahead of us with other top sides having to play each other. Fleetwood next week is a game id be pretty pleased with a point from, long away trips to the north always present us difficulties seemingly.

Maple Hatter - do you mind casting your eye over the above? Need to know if it meets the standard expected of a partisan Luton fan - or do i need to account for my actions again.

been a game of 3 or more goals between the two teams on matchday in most previous encounters
should be a few goals if the pattern continues
hope my old mucker codaplenty is seeking solace in a glass or two of rum Saturday evening...

You seem a little upset FCH. It's only a football forum. If you want to play Mr popular then feel free.

Well, that's the top six determined for the rest of the season. If last season is anything to go by, I'd pencil in Peterborough for relegation next year.

Wow. They're in real trouble if that is the general mentality.

While we're a fraction of the size of Sunderland I can see what they're going through as it's comparable on a bigger scale, to when we slid out of the League. We kept dropping and kept thinking we'll piss this league. We didn't. We didn't come close. We had to bring John Still in to make us realise who and where we were and rebuild.

Learn humility and respect your surroundings and change your mentality throughout the club from the boardroom to the terraces. If Sunderland don't go up this year - and as at the start of the season and still as of right now, I don't think they will. Despite buying a 3MILLION QUID striker they will be stuck here, or lower :eye:, for a long time if they don't adapt.

Voice of experience........Change your mentality quick smart.

Looks a tough league this year, wouldn't relish coming down as an Ipswich fan.

Bolton and Wigan bounced back the last time with good budgets for this level, wouldn't be confident of them doing again if they dropped.
