I feel it just doesnt work. It need to be consistent so predicted promotion is one point more than 4th and predicted safety is one point more than 23rd.

Like I say it's a basic prediction really to give a rough idea of where teams are. The predicted points go off the notion that if you were to challenge the safety or play offs etc then that is the points tally you would require rather than the 23rd or 8th place pov.

Agreed, it isn't a scientific calculation, just something that anyone can take, quote or use in discussion but on the understanding that nobody's feet will be held to the fire if it doesn't turn out to be 100% or even 50% correct.
I am sure anyone else is not prevented from providing their own more 'scientific' version if they so wish?
