Another tough home game against a side that really ought to be doing better, and we’re usually a good side to play if you want to kickstart a good run. I have a bet I did pre-season (E/W) for Man City, Stoke, Sunderland, Lincoln and Salford all to win their respective leagues so I wouldn’t mind Stoke getting their act together sooner rather than later.

O’Leary
Webster Kalas Kelly
Hunt Pack Brownhill Da Silva
Paterson
Diedhiou Taylor

I’d like to see us go three at the back as those 3 I’ve chose at CB all deserve to be playing but Da Silva looks half decent and deserves a run of games for consistency. Pack and Brownhill isn’t ideal but I wouldn’t put Walsh in against Woods, Allen and Etobo — we’ll get massively overrun if we do play 4-4-2 I think. Paterson again not ideal, maybe play Eliasson there but he wasn’t great against Sheff Utd in the number 10 role, and finally if Taylor doesn’t start I might stay in the pub until he comes on if we’re still in the game by that point.

Not really sure how many to expect Stoke to bring? Wild guess...

Bristol City 0-2 Stoke. (Allen 13’, Afobe 33’)

Odowda instead of pato and I'd be happy with that team.

Taylor should be a mainstay in the team now, he looks proper fired up in each game he plays in. Seems to give the rest a boost.

This will be Paterson’s 3rd game in a week, so I’m hopeful LJ will give him a rest. I do like the look of that 352 but I’d have either O’Dowda or Weimann in behind the front two.

Think that formation would suit Weimann perfectly. Although he’s not been scoring, his touch and passing is very good. Clearly a good footballer but not a prolific forward, as we’re finding out.

Him feeding the front two could be more influential to the side.

If he doesn't go with 3 at the back as above, which I like, I would suggest....

MOL

Hunt
Webster
Kalas
Kelly

Elliasson
Pack
Brownhill
Da Silva

Taylor

Weimann

Tough trying to get COD in that team but MT seems to spark Andi Weimann and Fammy can do some serious damage off the bench hence my selection.
All that said, if we could play 3 at the back and fit Liam Walsh into the 5 in midfield to add creativity, I would be equally happy.
The Potters have free away travel this season so should bring a fair few and they're noisy gets so the atmosphere should be decent.

2-1 Weimann, Brownhill.

21,886 (1,900) and a headache from hearing Delilah.

I would like to see Diedhiou and Taylor start for once. Nothing against Wiemann although its one thing not scoring but he hasnt even looked like scoring for a number of games now and could do with a rest.

Expecting a home win to continue Streaky Johnson's latest streak.

Absolutely smashed a total rabble second half, that was a 4-1 game.

No complaints from me, what a performance from Butland — that’s why they’re talking 20m+ for him.

also, didn’t Charlie Adam get subbed on then back off? it’s 2018 he is shite...

I agree but Johnson won't deviate from 4-4-2 and Walsh won't start in a midfield 2.
Why everyone else apart from him can see it and he cannot is bewildering TBH.
3-5-2 / 5-3-2 / 4-3-3 has to be the way to go but no doubt it will be 4-4-2 again.

Dunno why Pack and Walsh as a 2 wouldnt work, Brownhill has been fairly anonymous lately.

I don't disagree, but LJ said on radio Bris that Walsh can't play in a two. Like you, I can't see why not but he appears to be the creative player we badly need at times so I guess Johnson will have to modify the formation if he believes that.

To add to this, why can't everyone but him see that Patterson has added.tbe square foot of fuck all.to the team since last November? How did he stay on the pitch the entire game?!

If an average Championship keeper was in goal we'd have scored 3/4 in that second-half imo.

Bit of a worry that Kelly seems to be getting worse and worse, hopefully he learns a valuable lesson from that HT substitution.

On a positive note MOTM was Eliasson for me purely due to his superb set-pieces, although Webster had another very good game.
