Apparently Depay has gone off form in the second half of this season. Still scoring goals (not hard in Eredivisie) but maybe he's already got an eye on a move.

I personally think he's a United player in all but name. Apparently Van Gaal considered signing him last summer but told him to wait a year.

Not sure on Ings. He's done well, but we already have a bright talent in James Wilson, unless he's off on loan next season. Van Gaal doesn't play Rafael, so Clyne would be a great buy if rumours are true Rafael will be leaving in the summer. I rate Depay. Has always impressed when I've seen him play. 17 goals in 24 starts this season is fantastic.
In the Dutch League. Luuk de Jong has scored almost as much this season and he was rubbish at Gladbach and Newcastle. Of course you're gonna get the odd van Nistelrooy but I just don't think Depay is that type of player.

Depay isn't even a striker. He's the main creator, scorer and talisman in a team that is walking their league and doing all that at the age of 20. I don't think Luuk De Jong is quite the same somehow do you?

He's not an out and out striker which is what makes Depay's stats impressive. More of a Robben type player than van Nistelrooy. He's got all the attributes to be a success at United, if he moves of course.

I don't think "in a team that is walking their league" is doing service to your point. It very much correlates the lack of quality in the Dutch league that was being implied.

Would Ings want to join Man Utd?

Genuine question, the club is a draw, but he'll never start bar an injury crisis so it doesn't bode well for his future. Would he want that?

Also why does Ings get all this attention? Why not fatboy Charlie Austin? Seems to be doing better than Ings, and he's only a few years older so it's not like a youngster vs someone at the arse end of their career.

I see. He's a winger then. Would come in nicely for Young or something along those lines. Can't say he impressed me at the World Cup (since, y'know, I thought he was a striker) but he's only young and a lot of the Robben generation are getting on a bit (Van der Vaart, van Persie, Sneijder) so if he could be one of the main players of the nextgen Dutch league.
Oh and William, from a quick read of the last few Dutch tables, I'd say PSV are killing it because they're just better than the rest of the league. Ajax aren't doing poorly points-wise compared to other seasons. Looks like PSV are just walking on water.

Fair enough - I can't say I researched it or pay attention to the Dutch League, just thought it was an odd sentence to defend a league's quality. Anyone knowledgeable of the current edition know much about other PSV players who could be transfer targets?

There's a player called Wijanldum who is also leaving this summer- attacking midfielder. Doubt it will be to a big, big club. PSV have already stated his and Depay's departure are upcoming and are actively seeking replacements.

Re: Depay, I think there's generally a bigger hype to the guy than just what he does on the pitch. Van Gaal said he couldn't believe how good he was until he worked with him in the World Cup. There's a lot of excitement about him because when was the last the player to be a talisman for by far and away the best team in their league be a Dutch player who is at such a tender age. Like I said, he's not a striker, he's a winger.

Re: Ings, He's pretty highly rated around youth England circuits and always has been. He used to be a winger and was one of the most talented young players aroun by many accounts. I'm not slagging off Austin's history, but he's generally more of a lower league player come good. Ings has probably been on top clubs radars since he was in his late teens- checking out his development. I'm not saying Ings is better than Austin, I haven't seen a great deal of the latter at all but there's more profile to Ings generally.

I don't even reckon Clyne would join United, unless they 100% guarenteed him first team football. He's got his head screwed on, hence why he picked Saints over them.

How wouldn't he get first team football?

There's no competition for tge position. LVG won't play Rafael.

We'd have an all English back 4 if he were to join. Unless we sign a high calibre CB.

Given that full back isn't Valencia's natural position and LVG doesn't find Rafael to be adequate either Clyne could slot right in. Depay would be a fantastic signing and would take on Young's current role. At 21 years old he has great pottential and could flourish under LVG at United, particularly in our 4-3-3/4-4-2 setup.

If we were to dash Evans and replace him with a Laporte or Varane sort of defender, we'd have a great mix of experienced and up'n'comin players in our squad. :ohy:

Jones won't get ahead of Rojo? Although Clyne will walk into your team and that's why he'll join you this summer. He's good enough for you now, unlike Shaw.

He will be United's first choice Right Back as you say, it would be a sensible move for the guy and the right time to sell for Saints with his contract situation. One thing that strikes me about Clyne is his immense fitness to get up and down for 90 mins, something Van Gaal wants in a full back hence why he favours Valencia over Rafael.

Probably not:bg1: Good point.

I can't think of a single good thing Shaw has done for us.

This isn't a Spearesque wind up, but do Liverpool fans think Rodgers will keep his job if they fail to make top 4? Winning the FA cup I'm sure would exclude him from that. I think he deserves longer, seeing as he would have kept Suarez if he had his way and probably would have gave Chelsea a worry.

The twitter scouts adore Depay & I think we know that's all that matters.

Of course he should, and he will. We struggled at the start of the season with the big player changes but hopefully we will finish this season strong and start next season the same. It would be madness to sack him.

People that actually watch him reckon he's decent as well

I still don't trust them as much as our beloved LFC twitter scouts, I bet they didn't watch him in action in the U17 league against NAC Nomark like the cyberboys.
