Having witnessed our lucky three points against Colchester on Tuesday evening I fully expect a better performance today and a defeat to Wycombe and that big fat lad they have up front.

The "Big fat lad" who has scored 15 goals this season including our last 6 goals.

I'm really hoping for an entertaining game today as I've only had 4 hours sleep and then been to work for 6 hours this morning so if it's shit there's a likelihood I may doze off in my seat!

Ffs! Gape,Saunders,Hayes,Kashket,Pierre and Stewart all missing through injury. :ohm: A draw would be a very good result with some of the crap we are having to play today with not much good on the bench. Oh well we're nearly safe now

That is the best 45 mins of football I've seen us play this season, we should be out of sight already Bolarinwa has Wycombe's left back on toast, we've got in behind them so many times we look like scoring at every attack.
Worryingly it's only 1-0 but if we keep up the same levels second half this could end up as anything.
Cue the Wycombe second half fight back!

Can't moan at not winning as we blew so many golden chances but the manner of Wycombe's winner was sickening. Gunning was laid out cold in the middle of the penalty box and the officials let play continue. He was subsequently stretchered off. Disgusting.

I heard to got knocked out by your keeper, we can't be blamed for that mate. :dk: The quality of refs in this division is a f*cking joke! I would have been annoyed if that happened to us. Definate pen for you or not?

Do you think in the circumstances your players should have let us score immediately afterwards...?

Yeah definite pen mate. It was McKeown who knocked Gunning out but everybody could see he was laid out cold and the ref should have stopped play or your guy should not have carried on playing and should have kicked the ball out.
That said for how good we were first half we were absolutely awful in the second and didn't deserve to win, even though last 5 mins we had 3 unbelievable chances to level it.
Your keeper Blackman was outstanding today.

Some of our fans really are fucking idiots though, there were people around me moaning when in the 82nd minute Collins was subbed off for Yussuf that Bignot didn't know what he was doing and that it would leave us short at the back.
8 mins left 2-1 down chasing the game who gives a shit about the defence being light!
Some of our fans really are clueless.

And late in the game our defender kicked the ball out of play as one of yours was down injured yet your players refused to give it back so don't take the moral high ground. When Cowan-Hall shot for the goal i would imagine he was focusing on that not a player on the ground.

I don't necessarily blame Wycombe for it but how the referee can let play continue when a person is knocked out in the middle of the area is criminal. I've not seen it back but apparently the ref even acknowledges him on the floor before the goal goes in. There's been a couple of high profile head injuries recently which makes the situation a whole lot worse because it should've been dealt with instantly.

Bignot has just said on the radio he can't blame his players for stopping because without knowing the extent of the injury you need to be vigilant and help someone in trouble asap. The Wycombe lot played to the whistle and scored, that's their prerogative. Not one of them bothered to see if Gunning was okay though which leaves a sour taste. I don't know if we should've been allowed a goal back instantly given the circumstances, probably not. The whole situation just stinks and lacks any sort of class. Ultimately Gav being alright is more important than the result but to lose because of that is hard to take.

In terms of the match, we played well first half but didn't keep it up in the second. Both goals were a result of their pressure. We could've had about 7 or 8 but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept us out. Good to see Dom Vose back, he looked bright and nearly had a couple of assists.

Not taking the high ground - team have allowed walk in goals in the past, to me though it sounds like really poor refereeing.

Oh and the referee had no interest in giving our penalty either, which might I add was stonewall. The linesman stepped up for that one. After 6 years in non league I've learned to care less about poor officiating but today was up there with one of the most unacceptable performances from a referee I've seen in my life.

Cowan-Hall is quoted as saying he didn't see the fella on the floor,he also wishes Gunning a speedy recovery so we're not all that mean. As you Grimsby fans have said the refs we get are dire and i doubt you'll find anyone who doesn't agree but what can we do? Nothing. If a manager complains about a ref's performance they get banned and fined which is pathetic.

No Nick Kinseley, we have had Huxtable a few times in non league and he is easily in the top 3 worst referees we have ever had, and then he was promoted to the football league! :brill:

He really was terrible all game just bizarre decision after bizarre decision, in the first half a really dangerous Wycombe cross came in and 2 of our defenders, can't remember which 2, both jumped and one of them managed to flick it behind for a corner and he gave us a goal kick without a Wycombe player even challenging for the ball!

Just seen the highlights. Gunning was down for about 8 seconds before the goal flies in. I notice Pearson and Mills trying to get the refs attention, possibly McKeown too. I don't know if the referee sees it or not but that is still far too long to leave somebody injured on the floor. Everyone else played on and it's a good finish but it shouldn't have stood. Not sure exactly what causes him to go down but it definitely looked serious.

The Grimmers pen was stonewall to be fair.

Re. our second goal, Cowan Hall is heading away from goal at the time the GTFC keeper lumps his own player, you can see how he totally missed it.

Seen the goals and can't blame Wycombe at all especially the goalscorer who had his back to Gunning when he went down, he may have seen him on the floor out the corner of his eye before he shot, but the fact the ref hadn't blown wasn't his fault.

Ref should have stopped play straight away though especially with how Gunning is laid on the floor, he looks dead.

Anyhow, sounded a very good performance in the first half and not taking our chances cost us, Wycombe subs in the second changed the game and despite the second and the luck with the first it sounded only a matter of time before Wycombe scored anyhow, also a shame we didn't switch on and try for a goal until the last 10 mins.

Story of our season and this entire league in one game, no consistancy in performances!

Yep agree with all of that, at the time I thought it was pretty despicable of Cowan-Hall to just continue playing as Gunning was down for a good while (in seconds of course) before he had the shot but on watching the highlights he doesn't look in Gunning's direction so I believe him when he says he didn't see him down, but the referee as obviously already has been spoken about, no excuse.
Your consistency point is exactly what I said to my lad half way through the second half, instead of inconsistent from game to game we are now being inconsistent during a single match, had you seen the first half you would have struggled to believe that it was the same team that came out in the second half, like strangers playing and just inviting Wycombe pressure.

Just seen the highlights. The ref has only one option prior to Cowan-Hall's goal. He has to stop play. The Grismby player is clearly unconscious, you have no idea if he has swallowed his tongue or whatever. I would expect the ref to be hauled over the coals for that one.
