To continue with my moaning: very unsporting to switch the sprinklers on our half of the pitch during the pre-match warm up. Didn't switch on the ones where your lads were.

That happens with most teams who have sprinklers surely if your a footballing side you doctor the pitch to make it slicker.

We once got the fire brigade in to flood ours before playing Spurs in the FA Cup!

Yeah, but you didn't do that as Spurs warmed up did you? You did before they turned up.

Did you also remember to book the RNLI for the game, just in case the fire brigade over did it in addition to St John's Ambulance?

Also, if there were 100 seats sold (looked fairly full to me) how come the away support was only 283, surely we had more than 183 standing along the length of the pitch?
Yep that figure looks well dodgy looking at this:

Yeah I can only count about 50-odd in that pic. 100 tops.

We definitely DO NOT fiddle our attendances. That terrace fits around 1000 inc the bits you can't see in the photo, looked like you filled about a quarter of that to me.....

Typical Mariner comment about watering the pitch. They still think we had the fire brigade in at the Mill in the conference to cause a postponement.

Cheltenham always complain that the figures are wrong. On last occasion I asked a lass who works in ticket office if the figures are falsified and she told me categorically they were not.
Grimsby had 100 fans sitting in stand. In this photo I counted around 70 fans from left of picture to middle light pylon. Too blurred and difficult to count numbers from right of pylon to next one but it would be similar. There are a few more to right of second pylon so total of 283 seems correct.

Whether Grimsby brought a lost less fans to game than usual, but this was the first time I've ever heard them so subdued. They have always been the team's 12th man. Yes there were occasional outbreaks of singing but not as loudly forceful as we have got used to.

This was in the 80s before H&S went crazy, beat them too so it worked!

Seen it a lot though with the sprinklers, makes it slicker, home advantage I guess!

The open terrace doesn't lend it's self to a good vocal support, something I am sure your owner has realised, which is why you've changed where the away supporters are housed. That excuse for a seating area is truly awful, two rows of 50 seats, come on! I believe your bloke doesn't want any away supporters at your place, and I for one will follow his lead and never bother going again.

I can count 23 on the top row and that's just from the left of the photo to the first pylon mate. You need to go to 'specsavers'. My wife and I were just to the left, off-picture ,towards the seats, and I admit it was sparsely populated where we were, but your electronic turnstiles have been rigged to lie about the away support for whatever reason.

Vocal support by Grimsby supporters was very low key this time compared to quite a few other teams who have stood on same terraces.
And do re-read my original post where I state categorically that FGR do not fiddle their attendance figures.

Do they count the ones who get assaulted and chucked out by the bouncers?

Yes, it's a genuine wind-up my friend. But also, surely you remember headlock gate?

I assumed it was but had to make sure.
That headlock was in days when both clubs were in NL and you guys made more noise than on Saturday. That's what I can't get my head around.

Sometimes crowds are just flat. Boring games tend to do that. I wasn't there on Saturday, but can confirm we were loud at Morecambe on the opening day.

Cooper has apparently said that we ‘sat behind the ball’.
It seems the only way to not sit behind the ball v FGR is to stand on their goal line as they spend most of the game passing between their back 4 and keeper so what the fuck did the YORKIE TWAT expect? ;)
