Now I know you're a troll. He's so attacking you've just gone 7 games without scoring a goal...

We just weren't getting the rub of the green in those matches, we were the better team with more shots on goal but sometimes it just won't go in!

So in 630 minutes of football, your team amassed more shots than all their opponents but failed to score because of the rub of the green? One or two games yes. Seven games either your strikers are turd or it's a tactical issue and therefore Curle. So what is it, Curle or your strikers that weren't doing the business?

Curle certainly has his flaws, primarily failing to resolve our defensive issues, but he's been our best manager in years. He took a chance and blew our budget in the summer, and key injuries from December onwards have taken their toll.

There's not many very good players in our squad, but the team spirit got us through the first half of the season. The football has been far from pretty recently, but hopefully we can sneak a couple more wins for the playoffs.

You're either deliberately bull shitting, or its further proof that you haven't seen us play at all recently.

We were having minimal efforts on goal, in some games creating absolutely fuck all, Mansfield for example... fuck all threat, their keeper could have read a book in his 6 yard box for 90 minutes.

In that run of 7 games, we weren't the better team in any of them

Our strikers were just having an off day, that's football. Nothing our manager was at fault for.

I could say the exact same about you. Someone who keeps saying we're the worst team in the football league, yet we're in the play offs.

You're the one who is looking stupid to everyone.

Ever heard of current form and current performances? I look at what I see in front of my eyes and despite the fact we're 7th, we are no where near the 7th best team in this league. You can argue that all you like but since Christmas we've been along with orient the worst team in the league, then over the last 6 weeks we've got worse and have been a total shambles, worse than anyone.

I guess if you don't get to see a team actually play, all you've got to go by is league position as you're in no position to judge match performances. So in that respect I can see where you're coming from.

But why make up imaginary match reports and stats like you have in this thread?....

"we were the better team in matches during our 7 game goalless run and didn't get the rub of the green"
"Our strikers were just having an off day, that's football."

I mean come on, let's get serious here.

Is HG's argument really that hard for Carver to grasp? I mean come on, this is basic logical stuff that anybody can get, even those who don't particularly follow footy.

I'm not taking a dig at Carver here, but it's clear to all of us on this forum that he doesn't go to matches. All the Carlisle fans were saying how shit they were in that 7 game run, and yet he states they were the better side and didn't score cos their strikers had an off day. Unbelievable Jeff.

Not only does he not go to matches but I reckon he doesn't even bother listen to the live match commentary.

Carver's views on Carlisle pretty much depend on who's asking. He's moaned as much as the rest of us during the goalless run, but as soon as an opposition fan suggests we might not be very good, or HG says we're the worst team in the country, he becomes the squad's biggest cheerleader and makes rather bizarre statements in support of that.

He was right at the start of this tangent, that Curle does have us playing nice attacking football. Obviously things went awry, mostly through injuries to a squad that's a mile wide but an inch deep, and things sort of snowballed from there which isn't really his fault.

Doesn't sound like Curle at all... Blew our budget and then some on some garbage in the summer of 2012, when all we needed was a competent striker and we would've got promoted.

Please don't talk about their strikers not hitting the net just before we play them :ffs:

Curle starts off very well with teams, if he's given a budget he'll start the ball rolling but eventually the budget runs out, injuries hit and he runs out of ideas and you start playing lovely passing football between your back four...

Think it's been the other way here to be honest. He only just kept us up in his first season. We were shite that season, he was lucky it wasn't his squad so had that as a good excuse for why we were so shit. Since then we've got better each season. Although it remains to be seen on whether we'll improve on last seasons 67 points today. It's looking likely but not guaranteed the way we've been playing.

The passing between our defenders came, but thats well and truly gone now.

Simple mathematical and scientific principles dictate that we have Shola Ameobi, Carlisle do not and therefore we will win this football match.

Keith's been having us all on.

We'll win all of our remaining games at a canter and give you all a big fat wave goodbye as we head up on our way to L1.

Carver's got a point. No matter how many stats and form guides you muster up, we're still the 7th best team in the league as it stands.

It's still fucking ladgeful that the likes of Stevenage are Exeter are above us, mind.

Ladgeful? Translation for us southern softies please.

They both have a point. Carver is correct Carlisle are seventh and so still have a chance. But HG is also correct that the form is terrible, and so playoffs does not look too likely. Until when they played us I felt the view Carver expoused was correct, I now think HG is closer to reality. It is turnroundable, but I don't think it will be. I would be interested to know how many games each has gone to since Xmas, as this is the period when at least two wheels have come off the bus.

As an aside Carlisle scored three against us, but two were offside, and for the other the ref had the option of handball or grabbing the keepers face.

Why am I not believable?

See below basically. You can't say you're that bad when you're 7th in the league. I know you've got most pessimistic poster sewn up already so chill

Heh scared, I wouldn't blame you either.

So what do you get out of being such a big pessimist?

Have you ever been a happy Carlisle fan full of praise for the team and not slagging them off one bit?

On Curle, I don't think him being tactically poor is an issue, that's probably one of his better points. His football wasn't as bad as Notts fans make out, either. His problem is that his teams always fall apart a successful first year or so. It happened at Mansfield, happened with us and is happening with Carlisle.

I don't think its because he doesn't change his tactics, just because he doesn't seem to be a particularly inspiring or determined bloke and has a tendency to go for players in his own image. It's all fine when it's going well but he just doesn't have the bottle to drag a team out of a poor run.

We had a largely settled team in the first half of the season, and several on-form strikers to cycle between.

Second half of the season we've lost one of our main striker options and have just had injury after injury.

I also think teams have worked us out. Most of our goals earlier in the season were supplied by Adams or Grainger down that left side. Recently teams have been putting 3 men on Adams which has restricted his delivery into the box as well as stopping Grainger overlapping for the pass. I don't even think Wyke would have scored many for us recently as we simply haven't been creating any chances.

I'm hoping with Adams out it might encourage us to use the likes of Devitt and Osullivan a bit more instead of always getting over the half way line and looking to give the ball to Adams.

HG eat me.

You still claim that we are worse than Orient, their players and staff are not going to be getting paid by the looks of things and it will likely end with them going into administration. So can any Orient fans on here please tell this muppet to get his head out of the sand and imagine being in your shoes!!

Ok I'm going to give you this one. The win over Yeovil means that we are now the third worst team in the league on current form.

That said, at the moment I wouldn't be confident that we'd beat Orient or morecambe and I'd be surprised if these 2 teams performances have been worse than ours recently.

To be fair, if you lose to us, I'll agree with HG, you're shit. I just can't see it though. We don't win multiple games on the bounce, just doesn't happen
