Good experience for when your lads sign for Bristol City and Fulham aged 24, having not made an appearance for the first team.

A bit late for a fair few of them, to be honest. But yes, It's true. The vast majority of other clubs source their players entirely from the youth team. I look forward to seeing this Arsenal side ripping people to shreds in 2019,

The best chance for City's young lads to come through will be in the next three years with Pep. Even then there's talk of some big names coming in that could hamper that. The problem with Chelsea and City is the pressure the managers are under to win, so they don't bother risking their jobs leaving big money players out for kids.

Switched it on too late. Arsenal pulled one back but neither side could get another so City go to the final. I think it's probably Chelsea in the final.

Other clubs do at least source some of their players from the youth team.

Guardiola seems to have a decent track record on that front.

Does Iwobi belong here or is he too experienced now?

One of the only positives to come out of this DEEPLY disappointing season.

No. Overpriced Ponce and Macheda Mk.II don't belong in this thread.

Sorry Jase, I can see you had a very intelligent point to make but I was asking Smat.

Perhaps try the Championship part of the forum, friend.

As I stated a couple of weeks ago in another thread... You're stuck with us for another month or so yet!

I don't know. I don't think Martial should imo but I don't make or understand the rules.

Arry reckons you won't be down in the Championship for longer than a season anyway...

He's probably the third best England U19 striker. Just shows you what happens when young players are actually given a chance.

City's U16s just beat Liverpool 9-0. A few very talented youngsters in that age group by all accounts.

There's some great talent among the 00s. The first generation to have spent the bulk of their academy time under the EPPP I believe and much more comfortable on the ball than past crops.

Great news for Vitesse.

A nice consolation for Chelsea fans this year. It'll be interesting to see what direction they head going into next year. I think Conte coming in late after the Euros might be a bad sign for these youngsters.

On a slightly less glamorous note, our U21 squad won the Third Development League south this week. This is the same batch of lads who won the equivalent U18 south title last year.

As I understand it, we can't go any higher as the Development League (2 north/south and 1 national) is a different organisation. We'll have to apply if we wish to try.

It would be a strange sort of irony if MK Dons created a successful production line of the sort of English footballers the national side has lacked for years.
