BSM cup game first but Barrow Away for the second time in 11 days, first tie was a good clash until our youngsters ran out of steam at the end and our first XI should be a completely different animal on paper... that doesn't always correlate on the pitch though and will have to be at our best to get anything from a decent outfit.

Some tricky games to come, on paper not many teams have had a tougher first 6 or 7 games that we have so any points now would be very welcome.

Hopefully get some minutes into the players coming back from injury tonight ahead of this one but realistically only Paton and Debrah are likely to feature from the XI that started the cup tie.

I think if we get our home form up and running we will be ok. Agree those 3 are tough ones - our record at Donny is poor and can't remember us ever getting much at Gillingham either.
Unfortunately some of us are old enough to remember you getting stuffed 10-0 at Gillingham.

Real shame our game is on a Thursday, last season’s 3-2 was pretty much my favourite home game of last season. First home game back, big crowd, great game and a home win.

I dunno, we’ve been pretty dire at home under Maynard. Sunday was ok in the end but it didn’t fill me with a massive amount of confidence that he’s gonna turn that around any time soon.

Perhaps I'm harsh but I haven't really given Maynard a clean slate and am sort of stacking up all his results and I can't shake the feeling we're just marking time until he goes.
Genuinely hope he comes good but there's a negativity about us that just stops me believing he'll get us up.
Can't see us drawing four on the spin, not expecting us to lose but wouldn't be surprised. Tough one to call.
1-0 Notts.

It’s the defining month for Maynard, I think - on the face of it we have four pretty kind and winnable fixtures in a row. Get three wins or better and in amongst it at the top with his team and everything will settle down, less than that and he’s going to be under big pressure.

Football weekly pod quoted Maurizio Sarri who said "football in august lies".

I hope it works for Maynard. We just look to have many of the issues we had under him last season. It's early days so may be after a few weeks they will get ironed out. I certainly hope so as sacking the manager at this time of the season would probably write off the rest of it

We have a squad capable of top 7, shame to waste it

Before my time but it gets a mention more than a few times on our forum. Our keeper that day still works for the club

Last night probably throws up some more conundrums for Moore with the availability we have. Byers playing an hour means he could come in, but that would mean likely dropping Garrity (Captain/top scorer) or Croasdale who has been excellent.

Stockley was excellent last night and got 60 so he would likely be one we'd want to start but Paton is joint top scorer and can't really be dropped so you'd have to drop Curtis or Chislett and both are big players for us!

We could go 4 at the back to fit Byers in without dropping if Hall is injured but if fit then you probably drop Debrah who was been excellent so far this season!

Then you now have BBB likely back who was great in the cup game and Diamond Edwards came on and changed the game last night.

All this whilst what most fans would consider our best player capability wise whilst in L1 Funso Ojo doesn't get a look in.

Good problems but going to be a challenge managing these players but would struggle to call how we set up and what XI we play in this one.

Praying Connor Hall didn't do anything serious last night mind as we are missing a few centre halves already so looking short there with no Jones, Smith at the minute.

Going off the fact Swindon got a point at Chesterfield, who came to our place and won by 5. I'm expecting Swindon will be better than us. A loss could really see the beginning of the end of Bell though. Our form, particularly at home over the last 15 games or so has been pathetic.

Crewe 0-2 Swindon (Smith, Coterill) 4,250 (450 Swindon)

We've had a pretty tough start given to us fixture wise. OK, Salford were pretty shite but Tranmere will be top half, then we have top half finishers Barrow, then Donny and Chesterfield after Newport away. If we can come through that in touch with the top 7, I feel we'll have a good season.

All of a sudden there seems to be 2 options in every position against Barrow, so God knows what Moore will do. Need to keep Kouyate quiet, as I assume he will start but if we play our own game we should win.

2 years ago Fleetwood clung onto league 1 status on goal average as Gillingham were relegated. We've had some good battles with them over the years and without checking the records suspect they pretty much even Stephen. Decent start for the Cods and hopefully we can nick it by the odd goal. Coughlan should be back which is good news and Odubeko could get some game time
For traveling Gill fans, Saturday is the better day weather wise, today it's worse than shite. Coming up by train you can get off at Blackpool North and jump on a tram at the new terminal which will take you to a stop almost opposite Highbury - safe journey !

Well considering who we have on Saturday, I certainly won't be saying anything against Bromley. I've read this book too many times as a City fan, dread these type of games.
We've beaten the bottom of the league, drawn with a team that would have been bottom had we beaten them so to play top of the league is quite a step up. We must start as underdogs.

Don’t think so.
Woodman is a proper football man and a very shrewd manager.
What he has achieved at Bromley against sides that have much larger budgets is quite remarkable.
The biggest problem they may have is if bigger fish come after their manager, we reportedly spoke to him a couple of years ago.
Keep Woodman and they will be fine.
I read in an article that he edits videos from oppsoing managers so it seems like they are slagging off his team, then plays it to his Bromley squad to get them fired up.

Last season we came back from 1 down to win this fixture against Colchester 2:1 with goals in the second half from Matty Daly and Sam Folarin. So far this season we are playing so badly that I'm depressed about the prospect of travelling down and I can't see we will come away with anything.

Stockport County.
Notts County pumping in the Europa League anthem for tonight's Thursday night bonanza I'm hearing.

I should see the second half for those wondering. I'll be on Artell watch.

Just to add to this, apparently Mandeville & Colclough both trained with the team today. Very positive news that, as few things I’d seen on our forum & Twitter had me fearing he’d be out for months, and fingers crossed Colclough has finally put to bed his ‘calf issues’ (… aka the off field incident from last year) if he’s now back training too. Two big players for us. All of a sudden, some serious selection head aches for Cook.

Not sure if we’re three at the back or four, but team looks a lot stronger with a couple back from injury.
