According to speculation, we are losing Smith to Middlesboro, Crookes to Ipswich, Wiles to Luton, Ladapo to Cardiff, Wing (our best player after Jan) has gone back to 'Boro, and Olosunde has left already.

Additionally there will be interest in Barlaser, Lindsay and Ogbene.

If they all stay, we will be challenging but if they go we won't be replacing them with better that's for sure.

I think keeping your money in your pocket is a very good idea until August.

But if you like a bet on teams winning each individual league - which I do - it’s probably better to get your bet on now as the odds will be better before squads are formed.

I fancy Orient in L2, got 33/1 and they are now 14/1. It’s just a bit of fun.

Judging by the highlights I saw of a few of your games last season I’d expect you to be up there too, there were 3 or 4 games I saw where you created a ridiculous number of chances but you just couldn’t put them away, your away game at Huddersfield that you drew was one of most one sided games I’ve ever seen where you should really have won by 4 or 5.
Because of that I felt really sorry for you when you went down especially with that last game at Cardiff where you were leading right until the end too.
Missed chances was the problem all season and conceding injury time goals. Still can't believe how we managed to get relegated. We could easily have been closer to mid table. Referee's massively favour the bigger teams in that division also. The amount of points we lost from shocking decisions was ridiculous never seen anything like it tbh

The change in FFP rules again for this season is really a game changer for the bigger clubs i.e Ipswich where Marcus Evans sold out to an American Investment company for 40 million hence their impressive signings of late, they are favourites in my book. I expect all the bigger clubs to fill the top 8 including Sheffield Wednesday who are now signing players........

Ipswich 9/1
Sunderland 7/1 fav
Sheff W 8/1
Charlton 9/1
Portsmouth 12/1
Wigan 20/1
Bolton 12/1
Oxford 14/1

7/1 for us to win the league is a joke, we have got no full backs and need at least 6 new players. Hard to judge how this seasons gonna be for us, looks like Johnson is trying to bring in a philosophy throughout the first team and U23 squad judging by our style of play in pre-season. We need to offload Grigg who seems to miss open goals when playing for us as he did in a friendly last week, the man can score for fun anywhere else but not at safc for some reason.
Judging by signings so far i like what Paul Cook is doing at Ipswich and if he can get them playing they will be challenging but this season in league one will be very interesting and tough.

Got 8/1 on Ipswich. In a treble with WBA @ 6/1 and a blind faith 28/1 on my lot!

Quite pleased to see we are not among the favourites, I think the relegation on the last day took a lot out of our players mentally.
This has showed in one or two of our pre-season results, where there has been a noticeable drop off in the work ethic.
However, we did look very good in a 1-1 draw with a strong Newcastle side on Tuesday. In fact they only scored late on after we put 4 youth and a trialist on.

We have only lost Crooks (apart from those released) so if we don't lose anyone else we should be ok.
We have signed Shane Ferguson from Millwall and there are a couple of others supposed to be over the line barring possible problems with medicals.

We currently have Vickers, Mattock, and Tilt a few weeks away from being fit. Also Alistair McDonald seems to be missing but no mention of why.

So we are definitely short on the bench unless these signings come in but we do have some promising youth players coming through so it might be they get a chance instead of being loaned out.

Looking at the favourites, they tend to be the ones that are doing all the big signings.

Ipswich look very strong on paper and have a manager with a good track
record of promotions, equally though he has a pretty impressive track record of dumping teams when things aren't going his way.
He will be under a lot of pressure to get off to a good start and that can be easier said than done.

Sheffield Wednesday have made some impressive signings this week and from looking like a bottom half team, they could push for a top 6 place.
However, there still remains a cloud over them whilever Chansiri is in charge.
Also Donny fans will tell you that although Moore might be a really nice guy, he's not all that when it comes to managing your team,
Plus I think Bannon will leave now Wing has been signed and there's more than a little chance of Windass and Patterson leaving to a Championship club as they look to get rid of the big earners.
I just think Moore prefers to coach kids rather than experienced pros with strong opinions, but maybe the Donny fans can put me right on this one?

Sunderland fans have made it clear that they are some way off being the finished article, and Portsmouth having had a complete rebuild can go either way.

I don't know much about what's happening at Charlton and Oxford but Wigan apear to have made some good signings and I expect Bolton to continue their improvement.

I think it's wide open and I hope we can be part of the chase again.

I'll do a table prediction next week, but I think we're down for 6th-10th at the minute.

Ipswich clear favourites IMO, Rotherham will be up there because the yo-yo every season. Oxford will be in and around it as well.

We are really short on numbers at the moment most of our bench are made with academy players so we need 5 signings that are gonna be competing for first team place if we gonna do well again.

This has to be one of the hardest seasons to predict. There are some big sides in it this year - I do feel that some of the more successful sides will be ones that have had continuity; high player turnover this summer among a lot of the bigger sides which adds to the unpredictability!

We've gone under the radar a bit with the signing of Marcus McGuane early among others... We need a couple more heads (bare minimum) before we know how we'll fare ourselves in fairness.

Johansson gk, Vickers gk, Harding, Mattock, Barlaser, Tilt, Wood, Sadlier, Wiles, Ladapo, Ogbene, Miller, Lindsay, Ferguson. Ihiekwe, MacDonald, Smith,

17 full time 1st team pros as of today.
2 agreed signings, both are having medicals on Monday so 19.

Is it 21 allowed plus youth lads in which case we can have Kayode, Greaves, Cooper, Gratton, Hull. Chapman gk as back ups.

I'm sure they will sign another forward and midfielder but we may have to wait until teams in the Championship and Premier league decide what their squads are.

More concerning is the injuries to Vickers gk, Mattock and Tilt, plus what the hell is happening with MacDonald (just hope it's nothing to do with his previous illness).
Just hoping we stay injury free tonight against Middlesboro'.

Couple of points that I can’t disagree with there in Chansiri and Moore’s signings.

I’m hoping Bannan doesn’t leave obviously as I think he’d be the best player in the league but it looks as though we’re stocking up on centre mids at the moment. He only signed a new deal around March time when we looked doomed which he said has no get out clause. Brentford and Swansea have been linked. Brentford I think is nonsense, Swansea possibly but with him having a baby here with a local lass and being settled at 31, would it make sense to relocate all that way for the sake of 2 years? 3 at a maximum. As we know though, money talks.

I think we’re past the point of getting rid of big earners now after this summer. Paterson and Windass will still be on a decent wage don’t get me wrong, but when you look at the players we’ve let go since 2019 who would all have been on 20-30k per week… Hooper, Matias, Joao, Boyd, Dave Jones, Abdi, Fletcher, Forestieri, Van Aken, Rhodes, Reach, Westwood, Lees.

Vickers and his thigh?

Nothing has been said but he has not been on the bench for the last 2 friendlies.
He may even be isolating but no-one is telling atm.
We'll see if he is named tonight against Boro'

We have a slight advantage over other teams has we have not really rebuilt
Downside we have lost our main loan signing with a broken foot. he may be sent back to Hamburg and Isolation has effected us badly pre season

I would have us at about 20s i think we may be a little light up front

Yes quad injury apparently and out for a month.
Johansson also quad came off after 10 minutes last night.
We are down to the youth keeper Chapman plus Ihiekwe, Mattock, MacDonald and Tilt likely to miss the first game, so only 1 centre back 36 year old Richard Wood.
We were lucky Lindsay didn't get his leg broken last night as well straight legged challenge from Howson gashed his shin...........friendly really!!!

I'd take a draw with Plymouth now.

He has an issue with his quad that he can't shake off, he broke down two or three times here with it. It led to him having to alter his kicking technique, which he didn't look overly comfortable with.
