Even though Abbotts a Cov lad, there's zero chance of him leaving his current role with us.

John Eustace has been mentioned. Could please not take him?

Do the honourable thing and step down venus, almost 2 months on and we don't have a permanent manager still.

No disrespect but who else do you think would fancy the job? I like Coventry think you're a good club but it's a bit of a mess at the minute isn't it?

Well another court case negatively decided in the club owners favour.
So we have had a director acting as a caretaker manager for two months and still no sign of an appointment, perhaps now the owners will concentrate on saving us from the abyss that's is league two.
Here's hoping they remember they have a club to run

Hopefully we'll put the final nail in the coffin for Venus on Sunday.

You're right, I think if we were to go for an experienced option then Russel Slade would be the best and most realistic. Good manager imo and has worked for bonkers owners at Chalrton and Cardiff before so might not be put off by the off field nonsence.

Other than that I think we'd be looking at picking an up and coming manager from non league looking to make a name for himself or a has been who is on the decline and isn't very good.

Any punt or gamble has to be better than Venus though as at the moment we're sleep walking towards relegation and nobody at the club seems bothered to do anything about it.

Russell Slade then.

The bloke is off his fucking rocker, you think he would learn his lesson after Cardiff and Charlton. Wouldn't be too optimistic about your chances of staying up now.

Don't Slade traditionally take the Number One spot at Christmas? :-)

Until the end of the season, sums this bloke up. Happy just being told what to do like a good little boy as long as it's a job whether it's 3 years or 5 months, he was about our 4th choice after others had told the board to stick it, no coincidence that Coventry have been managerless for months and now Slade has joined soon after he was available.

I know you don't anyway, but I wouldn't expect anything to change under Slade if I were a Coventry fan.

My favourite quote from the Coventry site:

"The Club believe that Russell is the right man to take Coventry City forward and hope that everyone will give him their full support.”

Oh yes, evidenced by the lengthy contract you have given him.

Typical. Right before we play them. They're in freefall at the moment! Bet they'll turn their season right around now. FFS.

Slade did a very good for us as you all well know, but he is not a quick fix manager - He needs time to turn things around, which was what he had with us. The results will be ok, but the tactics will be a bit turgid at times.

He kept us up in 2010 and Brighton in 2009.

He has his limitations though, he'd settle for a 0-0 everyday of the week which is part of the reason why he's always been that "nearly" man. Having said that, when we finished 3rd in 2014 we played some good quality football and scored plenty of goals, but looking back it was probably more down to the front four we had at the time of Lisbie, Mooney, Cox and Odubajo.

He does like a dig at the fans though, he's done it at every club he's been at. Personally, it doesn't bother me but some people do get annoyed with it which is understandable.

I've always thought he was more suited to the smaller clubs myself, where he will get a bit more time to build a team and there is slightly less pressure. He did a sound job at Cardiff in two years there.

Not even Jesus Christ could make a decent team with the dross we have at the moment.
Length of contract ,makes SISU leaving at the end of the season seem likely which is what every fan wants, so keep us up somehow ans we all move on.

He will do I guess. Good luck to him. His remit will be to keep us in this league.

The other two on the shortlist were Caldwell and Flitcroft so Slade is definitely the one i'd have taken out of the three.

We needed a manager who knows the lower leagues and has been in a relegation battle on a shoestring before so I guess he fits the bill. In all honesty I doubt it will make much difference but good luck to him.

Not really sure football was Jesus' thing tbh. He could've gotten you all pissed rotten on red wine to make it bearable though.

Slade must love working for these basket case clubs, Orient, Cardiff, Charlton and now Coventry. Think this is a good appointment though and he should have enough experience to ensure Coventry just about survive.
