Do you think this will change the fortunes of Sheffield Wednesday? They haven't been performing well this season but will Pulis be able to bring a turnaround? Only time will tell.

Tough one for Wednesday. Yeah you'll stay up this season, but you will be watching mind-numbing shit for the next three years. Four centre backs across the back it is!!!!!!

I think after a points deduction to start the season and the general instability off the pitch that they'll take survival this season and work from there, no matter how ugly it is. Mind, their fans are probably lucky to not be in the stadium to witness Pulisball for the time being.

I agree that a lot of people don't like his style of play but if it means better results for the Owls, it should be fine. After their current position on the table, it can't get any worse, I guess.

A coach effect turnaround wont be that fast, presumably.

Think this is a pretty poor appointment in all honesty. They aren’t in a situation where they need someone to tighten them up and get keep them up in a 10 game mini season, just yet anyway.

At the rate Monk was going he’d have kept them up in current circumstances. Totally get wanting Monk gone but they should be looking for someone with a long term vision and am not sure Pulis is the guy for that.

He’ll keep them up probably, which I think they would have done anyway, but they will be in the same treading water situation in a year/18 months time which they clearly aren’t happy with.

There are more and more teams employing his style of football in the Championship than ever before.

Agreed with the first paragraph but not so much the second one.

What makes you think Wednesday would have stayed up had Monk saw the season out?

Probably because they'd be on 12pts if it wasn't for the deduction, same as Forest & Rotherham.

They've got a pretty solid mid-table squad.

43.75% win ratio in his 80 games for Boro, losing 22, that's pretty good aint it?

Hate this twat but he gets results.

Would still only be 20th though.

Some of the stats thrown about were horrific. I think from the turn of the year until the end of last season only Hull picked up less points. 7 wins in the last 32 games. 2 home wins in 2020 and only 6 goals in 11 games with 3 of them from open play this season makes grim reading.

Oh yeah, I don't think Monk is great, nor do I think they'll finish top half but I think they had/ have enough about them to climb the table and there are worse squads in the league than theirs.

They don't concede many.

Apparently they haven’t scored 2 at home for a year !

Or won more than 2/3 games.

Been sacked this evening after 10 games. Thought it was a poor appointment at the time but thought he’d last longer than that (and do better in the short term!)

Bit of panic setting in I think.

Or had a row with the chairman.

Wouldn't be surprised - over funds for January or something.

OK - in the Hollywood version, Chris Wilder now gets sacked, and Pulis goes to Sheff Utd and keeps them up just out of pure spite.

I've got to be honest, a bottom 3 of Wednesday, Derby and Wycombe would be absolutely perfect for most people I'd say.

Can't say I'm too surprised at this. Results were poor, the chairman has previous for sacking managers quickly and Pulis is known as being demanding and wanting full control of things.
This probably won't help their case for survival at all, though, as their results under Pulis were poor and their problems are far more deep-seated than the on-field issues. Except to see them as a League 1 team next season.

In the job for 45 days - I'm sorry that is pathetic. Hasn't been allowed to sign any players because the window wasn't open until a few days time. What exactly does the club want?

I guess the money from the sale of the stadium has already been spunked away?

I suspect that is the issue .

Pulis wanted money to get players in and none is forthcoming .

it's surely a fine way to preserve the great man's legend of never having been relegated though, whilst no doubt pocketing a tasty payoff?
