Is that the general consensus amongst Wednesday fans?
No, some are too thick to see it. We blew 20 odd points last season and that is down to him and we've started the same this season.

Surprised how many people fancy Pompey to have a good season. All I have seen from Pompey fans is how poorly they have been let down in the transfer market this summer.
Well, things change.

We had a slow transfer window initially, but things picked up in the two weeks before the season started, triggered mainly by the sale of Marcus Harness to Ipswich. We then loaned Pigott off them, used the Harness money to sign Colby Bishop and brought in hot prospect striker Dane Scarlett on loan from Spurs.

We're just typical fans who got a bit twitchy when we didn't have a single senior striker on our books with the first game rapidly approaching. It's amazing what a few decent signings can do to improve the mood. We'll no doubt be looking to strengthen further through August.

Most fans consider the autos unlikely, but we have a fighting chance of a play off spot.

A few stats I've come across: - consecutive years in League 1 including best and worst seasons plus last season's final league position.
Okay stats offer all the evidence but prove nothing. However those thinking on a promotion/relegation bet might find it useful.

Nope, no chance. We are still short in a few key positions, unless we strengthen accordingly we’ll struggle to make the playoffs, let alone autos.

So far, it looks like Burton are going to struggle but if JFH is given the boot soon they can still recover.

Fully expect Peterborough to go back up with their firepower.

I think we’ll be comfortably mid table.

It’s only because of JFH I had them to go down. Losses like that one on Saturday are the kind that indicate the end is near for him though. Based on how things usually work out they’ll sack him just before they play us no doubt.

Will get our first look at one of the bigger sides this weekend in Bolton. Personally I don’t think will learn much if anything from it as not sure what sort of team we’ll be able to name.

Scrappy win Saturday not helped by being without Gregory and Smith up top so having to play Callum Paterson there.

Injuries reared their ugly head during the game with Famewo and Bannan going off but had a huge slice of fortune with the penalty.

Had a good booze with great pals on the day and hospitality in the Dolphin at Newport Pagnall was fantastic.

Roll on Charlton

Aye it's a good boozer and the landlady is sound for a West Ham fan, often go in there myself. Newport Pagnell has got a few decent ones up and down the High Street to be fair.

Service was smooth with not much waiting time for a pint despite the sheer numbers down there.

He will be gone soon. The pressure is cranking up from the fans and many are staying away. Not from this season, but from the borefest last season.
There is a meet the manager session coming up soon - fans forum At the club. It’s still scheduled, but hopefully with a different manager.
If he stays - we are down by Easter if not before. We are that bad.
It will turn ugly if we doesn’t go soon.
Hopefully for you, he plods on until we play each other. For me, I hope he’s gone by Saturday.

They used to do Kirin on draught there. A Japanese beer I got a taste for when I was working over in Chiba. Glorious beer.

We’ve got you in the midweek fixtures next week so I’m hoping he stays. How likely is it you reckon he’s sacked this week with the cup games tomorrow and another league game Saturday? Two defeats and he’s gone or a bit longer yet? We seem to have a curse of playing against teams with a new manager in recent years and almost always lost the game. Fingers crossed he stays a bit longer for us.

The fans are saying there is no way he can stay if we lose again tonight and Saturday. His position surely is untenable given the atmosphere round the club plus the dressing room has apparently been lost.
So, we might see something next Saturday night or the Monday after.
However our chairman has no history of sacking managers, he is very supportive, so I fear he will still be round when we play you. And if that is the case - fill your boots. A chance to boost your goal difference and your keeper can bring a Hammock to put in the goal and chill out for 90 minutes. Could see 5 or 6 nil if you are up for it.

Burton had a weird season last season, it felt like they went on winning and losing streaks all the time, they never seemed to just tick over?

Dunno why Burton fans are pissed off they're struggling in L1 (Thus far)

They're a conference club at best that's been over performing the last 15 or whatever years

Go on. I’ll bite.
We are a club that is very well run, and has enjoyed success. So we are not a conference club. Having a bad time at the minute but it won’t last.
This conference club at best has been Looking down on your club for many years scratching round in league 2 while we went to the championship and a major cup semi final.
We will come good again.
And if we sack this clown quickly we will finish above you.

We don’t do tick over. It’s boom or bust. Sign of a busted flush of a manager and backroom staff. We usually lose at your place, think we won last season - never ends in a draw….

You can't finish above 1st place, weird comment to make.
A stint of success doesn't make you a big club or not a conference club. You are - Yeovil also reached the Championship and look where they are now, back at their natural level.

Your ground doesn't even hold 7k.

You've only been in the football league for 13 years of your entire clubs history.

Yep, a period of success, but to suggest you'll finish above us, or that you'll ever be back in the Championship is laughable, you may get another stint of success in 50 years time, but that's about it. It'll also only be a very short period if you ever do reach those dizzy heights again.

It's now a one way slide for Burton Albion, it wouldn't surprise me if you got back to back relegations, there's more chance you'll be in the national league north/south than in the Championship in the next 5 years.

Actually I agree with you how Burton are run. I remember going to your ground (old one ) when my mates uncle was playing in goal for Bridgwater Town ( I believe around 1970 ) in the quarter finals of the FA trophy. So Burton have come a long way and I think fully deserved.

Well if any club has long term recent experience of the Conference it's you boys.

Perhaps you can go on the Wrexham board and explain to them how you get out of there because, I think, they are on the point of setting a record-15th consecutive season

I'll tell you what, we have been lucky to have had a few exciting promotions of late, but to get back into the league at the first attempt was probably the most important.
It's a fine league just to dip your toes in for the crack, but the mere thought of spending any significant length of time down there makes my ballsacks shrivel.

So there is 2 bets on the table.
One you won’t finish top ( or get promoted for that matter )
And two, we won’t be non league within 5 years.
£10 on each - goes to charity of your choice.

Yeah you’re far too well run to go on a slide like Yeovil. At some point who knows maybe you go down to L2 (as will likely happen to more than half of this league on occasions) but then would expect Burton to make a pretty quick return. All I know is during the Smurthwaite era at Vale was looking on enviously at how Burton were run.

The squad is fine, liked the Keillor-Dunn signing when you made it. It just needs a decent manager.

We will go to league 2 one day. You are right. And it might be this season - as it stands it’s nailed on. If he goes, not a certainty.
What happened at your club shows how things can turn around, and from black clouds appear blue skies and a well run football club. It’s all about ownership. If the boardroom is in good shape it permeates throughout the club.

I'll take the second bet no problembo and the first bet can we have a readjustment to a top 6 finish rather than promotion, and I'll happily accept.
