I've decided Barry Corr will be the first to hit 20 this season, he's looking vital in everything we do going forward.

That's gross. Not least as he'll have to chop it off to do so....................

You do know he got 15 last season? With our midfield supply I think he will definitely hit 20 this season.

He's 30 years old and never hit 20 in his entire career to be fair (I think his highest is about 15?). I wouldn't go so far as to bet my bottom set of ribs on it, but I would be surprised if he breached the 20 mark.

Was he played as a lone striker for Southend? If so, bearing in mind he was in a team which got promoted last season and managed 15(?) goals, how is this evidence that he can go on to hit 20 goals in a team which isn't necessarily expected to be promoted?

Yeah I don't think he'll get 20. He'll score between 10-15 I think. If we do have a successful season I think we'll be quite low scoring (as with our Conference promotion season) and will be reliant on our defence again. Expect a fair few 1-0 wins and some clean sheets.

It's all if's but's maybe's but yes he was a lone striker for Southend and we are starting up 4-5-1/4-3-3 in pre-season and he has got 2 in 2 against Norwich and Ipswich. Just my opinion from what I've seen of him so far. Our system is based around him being the main man and judging by his arrogance on the pitch, he will thrive off it.

16 last season in all competitions. If he can stay fit I am confident he will break the 20 goal a season barrier. I love his arrogance which I think you need in a striker. The only down factor in him is that he is likely to get sent off once or twice.

Wasn't he proclaimed to be the best midfielder in L2, this time last year?

Something like that, he definitely didn't deliver but having Awford didn't do anyone any favours.

Lyle Taylor is currently 33/1 (apparently).

If I was allowed to bet - which I'm not as a club volunteer - I'd put some money on him.

Already stuck a few bob on it myself, seems ridiculous odds considering how he's done in spells in Scotland.

Totting all of this up at about 2 o'clock tomorrow time permitting, just before the big kick-off on Saturday, so any more predictions will have to be done today or early tomorrow.

Corr - 18

Got 15 for Southend playing a formation he disliked and a style that didn't suit him. - his words not mine. With berry, Donaldson and Newton creating chances for him I think he'll get many goals this season.

Alright, been delayed a bit with work but here is the final table. Accrington, Morecambe, Newport and Stevenage had no entrants so they'll unfortunately be left out. I dare say they won't have any massive scorers anyway so no biggie I guess. Each player's current 'goals scored' is in red next to their name - I'll try to update this pretty often.

30 - Kemar Roofe (Oxford)
24 - Matt Tubbs (Portsmouth)
20 - John Akinde (Barnet)
19 - Lyle Taylor (Wimbledon), Marc Richards (Northampton)
18 - Barry Corr (Cambridge) 2, Tom Nichols (Exeter) 1, Josh McQuoid (Luton), Reuben Reid (Plymouth)
16 - Izale McLeod (Crawley), Matt Green (Mansfield)
15 - Jermaine Easter (Bristol Rovers), Charlie Wyke (Carlisle), Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient) 1, Jamie Cureton (Dagenham), Jon Stead (Notts County)
14 - Billy Paynter (Hartlepool) 1, Jake Hyde (York)
12 - Paul Hayes (Wycombe)
9 - Ryan Bird (Yeovil)

Kemar Roofe is clearly going to have to storm the season in order to live up to these high expectations, with 30 goals requiring way over a goal every other game for him. Next up we have Matt Tubbs with an arguably more realistic 24 - with Portsmouth's goals on the opening day mainly coming from new signing Bennett, Tubbs will be hoping to improve over the rest of the season in order to improve his current massive goal ratio of 0. The rest of the scorers are somewhat clustered, barring the sub-10 prediction from a surely near suicidal Yeovil fan and a couple of low 10s for Wycome, Hartlepool and York's offerings.

Jay Simpson stays fit and has 15 goals by the end of November. He could be the first Orient player since 1977 to score 20 league goals in a season.

If Ibehre hadn't been out injured for 2 months, he'd probably be just about on 20 goals by now.

No doubt about it, Ibehre has been phenominal for us this season when he's played and when he gets back to his full fitness he'll be just like he was at the start!
