I feel very happy when I watch game for 10 minutes, decides that it's shit, take a nap and wake up to find out that my instincts haven't failed me. Some turgid shit being played.

No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League in 2015 than Liverpool's Simon Mignolet (13).

Very surprised by that stat given how bad our defence has been.

A guid dram
And it at least shows on stats that he isn't as bad as people make out. Ok he isn't absolutely world class, but he's still a decent keeper.

What did you expect. Liverpool signed him cos he had 2 good games in Brazil last summer.
At least we bought him because he had good games. You bought your striker even when he was shit. FYI Our 4th choice striker is as good as your second choice :dk:

What I meant was Spurs were the better team for 70 mins and your man of the match was a goalkeeper!!

Good result all things considered. That's our weakest line up all season and we were pretty solid, other than Skrtel who was very nervy. Mignolet is a great shot stopper.

I was pleased with our pressing which is something we've lacked for a long time. Hopefully when our better attacking options are back we will finish the few and far between chances (ie Origi hitting the bar).

Tough set of fixtures coming up, even with the home games.

Yeah but Costa has a bigger dick than Sturridge.

Tottenham was better most of the time, they weren't great though. Eriksen and Lamela are doing good at midfield and creation just need Spurs' front men to get with them to score, what seems to have being their biggest problem. And Mignolet also avoided some good shots.

And since when is Whitechapel a WUM? He's terrible at it.

I thought you were on TFF Phil?

Clyne is the only saving grace about Liverpool's back line.

Sakho was excellent, MOTM for us. Him & Clyne are great, & Moreno did quite well. We need to upgrade on Skrtel & Lovren, and Migs too really. Showed his shot-stopping this game but also his weakness in possession yet again.

I've gradually become less and less convinced with Mignolet as time has gone on. He didn't start particularly well in his first season (despite the Stoke penalty save on his debut) but I thought the ability and potential was there and he would grow into the role. We all know keepers can be poor in their early 20s and end up being fantastic by the time they hit their peak around 30. But he has barely improved since he signed, and he's now 27 where I would expect him to be moving towards his peak. He's decent, but not the quality a team that wants regular CL football should have. As said above, Klopp needs to be looking at a replacement for next season.

He's no different from when he was with us, fantastic shot stopper but always waiting for his next mistake normally due to poor decision making.

Yeah, he's undoubtedly an improvement on latter day Reina for us (if Pepe hadn't started to decline early we probably wouldn't have needed a first choice keeper until near 2018) but Migs just simply doesn't have the all-round game or consistency required of a top-level keeper. He's maybe a keeper who'd challenge to be one of the best 6 in the league in his position, but no more than that.

Mignolet did keep us in the game though. He is a very good keeper, certainly not world class. If our defense was better he wouldn't look as bad. His distribution and kicking is horrendous though.

There's also the argument that his lack of command & the defence's lack of full confidence in him contributes to making the defence poorer. He's a fine shot-stopper and got us a point on Saturday, but we're in his 3rd season now and he'd be someone we should look to improve on.
