I swear I'm just voting for South American. Lib, in your opinion where is the best place South America to go?

I've been to all but 4 countries in South America. I'm biased but I'd say Peru. Although a lot of people think South America is just Peru and Brazil. Trust me theres a lot more than that.

If you want a non biased answer, you're better off asking Pies.

If you took away Peru?

There's a job in Ecuador for six months that I've not really given considerable thought to, but it's at the back of my mind. How do youngster Ecuador?

Ecuador's one of the 4 I haven't been too. I see it as a mini Peru. Lots of similarities, although I wouldn't know from personal experience.

Argentina is great for football history and Brazil is nice but a bit overrated. Heard good things from Chile and Bolivia. Uruguay is good for a weekend. Colombia or Venezuela I haven't been to in ages although I certainly wouldn't recommend Venezuela in 2016.

I think it's just Argentine and Brazil. Peru's one of the obscure ones imo.

From a South American view, I can confirm that Peru is not an obscure one. Theres tons to see here and we get a lot of tourists. In South America only Chile, Argentina and Brazil are ahead in terms of visiters

I believe you, but my guess is that not many people think that way.

And how many major countries are there in South America?

A lot of people think that way actually, I'm not being biased here. I'm telling you this based of what a lot of people have told me.

There are 10 countries in SA. 12 if you count Guyana and Suriname but I don't count them.

From a British point of view it's definitely Brazil and Argentina that are considered the "big two" countries in South America. Colombia would be third and after that I think the rest are all pretty much equal in that they aren't talked about very much - obviously forgetting the two Lib mentioned as they are pretty obscure.

I can confirm that from the German Point of view, too. If you ask a German to name 2 South American Countries 75-85% would say immediately Brazil, Argentina. And that's not only football related.

If you would ask the same question football related 99.9% would name Brazil and Argentina....and then Uruguay.
In Germany we heard for the first time that they are playing football in Peru, at the World Cup 1970 were we played against them (and won 3-1, all goals from the Bomber Gerd Müller ). I even know one name from that time: Teofilo Cubillas

edit: My vote here is, of course, Pisa. I visited it once. Impressive building!

Colombia is definitely well known, but the fact is we have the 4th most tourists. I think we have more to see than Argentina and Chile but I can certainly understand the reasons why they have more.

:D, that was the reason

btw: They played the match in Leon at 1800m height. So the circumstances should serve the Peruvians better than Germans. But as you said, if only your keeper wasn't shit you would have won 1-0 ;)

Not all countries that most people have heard of though. I'd say Peru is around 5th-7th in that list from a foreigner.

Not knowing where Peru is on a map is different than not knowing them. Peru along with Brazil are basically the founders of the continent. Machu Pichu also helps our reputation. You're 12, so I'll let you off the hook but there's a reason why Peru is 4th in terms of tourism in South America.

Argentina and probably Chile are more popular than Peru now, though, so that's irrelevant.

That is a true fact. Also completely irrelevant.

1. There are only 10 countries, so that's not saying much

2. In terms of tourism. Doesn't make it a major country.

1. I never said we are a major country. We have the 4th most tourists in South America, obviously still way behind countries like Brazil, Italy, France, the USA, and more.

2. We're not only 4th in South America, were 10th in all the Americas which I believe is also including the Carribean.

3. Your argument was that we are an obscure country that's not well known. Having Machu Pichu to boost our country reputation is one thing but if you actually know any history outside the USA, we basically were most of South America, along with Brazil. We're basically the founders of the continent and the history isn't going to be erased.

Many people know us as the incas. What was the empire in Argentina? Fuck knows. What was the empire in Mexico? The Aztecas! Many people may not know us on a map and we obviously do fuck all in sport but we are a well known country.

It's true that South America is generally a more ignored continent but our country history as well as Machu Pichu goes into our reputation.

If you want a real obscure nation, take Guyana or Suriname.

What were you claiming then?

North America has 23 countries. That makes you 10th out of 33, most of which are tiny nations such as El Salvador, Guatemala, St. Kitts and Nevis, etc.
we basically were most of South America, along with Brazil.
Were.

What I gather from your post is that you think Peru is a big country because Peru was a big country. All I'm saying is that from a non-South American perspective, most people don't think of Peru as a big country, if they've even heard of it. I'm not claiming that Peru is a tiny/obscure country at all.

Peru is a big country actually. Its the 3rd biggest in South America, and take my example, we are known as the incas, the Mexicans are known as the aztecas, the Argentinians are known as what? You can talk all you like about the past being irrelevant, but its extremely relevant as most people go to tour a country to learn about history. Why the fuck would I go to a country like England then when London is really the only city that has any sort of interest? Theres a big reason for that, England is the mother nation. Just like we're one of the mother nations of latinamerica.

And those tiny nations have amazing beaches. You'd think they could be a tourist destination. Get it out of your head that the USA is the only country that matters.

Anyone with a brain knows that Peru exists.

You're one of those "history class is irrelevant because they're dead" kind of kids aren't you?
