The Mexicans of 500 years ago maybe. Today we refer to them as Mexicans. Because they're Mexican.

You can talk all you like about the past being irrelevant, but its extremely relevant as most people go to tour a country to learn about history.

If not many people know about Peru in America, than that further proves that they're ignorant as many people outside of the USA define them.

And yes we call them Mexicans nowadays, but they're still well known for the aztecas, similar to us who are known as the Incas.
