From memory, I think we have a good record over Tranmere albeit over a small sample size of 6(?) league and cup games in our 2 NL years together.

No new injuries for us and Frecklington's back as well, although you'll be hard pushed to get him back into the side given the last two performances.

We can't keep winning away and sooner or later it's got to come to an end. Hope it's not tomorrow, would take a point now.

We were awful last week when Newport rolled into town and beat us. Given Lincolns form I’d also take a point right now.

Just a side note. The last time Tranmere played Lincoln in the football league was back in 1988, when a big physical Lincoln team rolled up and set about kicking 10 tonnes of shit out of Johnny Kings promotion winning team. 2 first half red cards were brandished against Tranmere for offences which normally wouldn’t even get a yellow, whilst leg breaking challenges and head butts from Lincoln went unpunished. Never seen the home crowd so irate, so much so that one old chap actually spat his teeth out. The ref got a sizeable police escort off the pitch at half time with choruses of “your going to get your f@cking heads kicked in” ringing out from all 4 sides of the ground, which incidentally was the last time I ever heard that chant at Prenton. Lincoln never turned up 2nd half and Tranmere legend Ian Muir popped up with the winning goal.
It’s amazing how fortunes can change so quickly in football, non more so than Lincoln’s. it’s only 3 years ago that they stole a 0-0 draw in a FA cup qualifying round here at Prenton Park. Barely 2000 turned up at Sincil for the replay. Now they are playing in front of full houses every week, have won a league title, won a cup final at Wembley and had an amazing run in the FA cup.
Hoping we can steal something from this game. The momentum is with Lincoln, so I’m going for an away win in front of 5500 SWA plus what ever the Imps bring.

I remember that game in 1988. I don't know whether Colin Murphy was still the Lincoln manager then, but his sides had a reputation for the dark arts.

I would also happily take a draw. We’re competing in every game but our lack of goal scoring options means the result is too close to call each time at the moment!

So let’s not bother playing the game, agree on a point and all just go down the pub yeah?

He will have been, yeah.

Even to this day he's still around the Club and is often travelling on the team coach for away games. Led the side out at Wembley earlier in the year, too.

I'd also happily settle for a draw here; not confident though.

As mentioned on another thread, I cover Blackpool so I don't get to watch Lincoln that often, but I'll be going tonight. The last Tuesday night game I was at we lost 3-0 to Barrow, so you can all blame me if we get done.

Would also take a draw, expecting a Lincoln win. The Cowleys always seem to outsmart us tactically, even at Braintree, and I'm not sure we have the players to break Lincoln down and get back into the game should we go behind.

Remember the home game from the 88/89 season when we came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to one of the most amazing own goals I've ever seen from the Tranmere right back who lobbed the ball over the keeper from around 35-40 yards in front of the big open terrace side back then with no Lincoln player within 10 yards of him just bizarre!
1-1 tonight I reckon, always a tight game when we play you guys.

Lincoln the better side but not seen any of their supposed total football. Just an upgraded version of the non league stuff. We’ve been terrible and look tired. McNulty bossing the back to just about keep us in it but for all the dominance it’s still 0-0..

Tranmere's half time sub changed it, given them an extra man in midfield.

Bostwick at fault for the goal giving the ball away, but decent finish from Norwood. Ref missed a blatant handball from McNulty in their box just before the goal.

Very poor second half from us. Our fault for missing those early chances.

Maybe I should just stay away.

It's got 1-0 Tranmere written all over this.

Jinx!!!!!

That was a really good game, enjoyed watching that. Not taking those first half chances in particular lost it for us. Tranmere played much better in the second half so fair play to that and Norwood took his goal well. These things happen.

Davies pulled off two really good saves from Akinde in the first half and Anderson in the second, he did however waste on his own 5 mins and how he wasn't booked. Norwood was an idiot two completely avoidable yellow cards.

We have and will play much worse and still win. We're pretty good bouncing back so hopefully we can avenge Crewe for that god awful 4-1 home defeat last season.

Lincoln reverting to the poor non league side I remember there. Nowhere near our best performance but the extra energy gave us great initiative second half and we were the better team from then. Norwood stupid as the ref was desperate to send one of ours off.

I’d add the Lincoln of the first half are probably the second best side I’ve seen after Mansfield.

The poor non-league side that beat you to the title? Strange comment.

Anyway, it was Mellon's half time change that won you it. You started to win all the second balls and took the initiative. If anything we waited too long to change it.

The hoofball.

First half you played a bit more and had better intensity than us.

Second half it was purely fresh legs. We’ve had one of the lowest levels of squad rotation in the division and Gilmour taking the workload off of Banks allowed him to play more, which is where our goal came from.

Expect you’ll be top 3 though and that our lack of squad depth will haunt us.

Not sure what game Tranmerewhite was watching, Lincoln by far the best footballing side ive seen so far this season. Should have gone in at the break a couple goals ahead.

Im afraid Micky Mellon outsmarted the Cowleys tonight though. The half time substitute changed the game, and Lincoln didnt seem to adjust.

Great game to watch.

There aren't many sides that won't go long when 1 down with time ticking down. Putting Rhead on and going long plays into McNultys bucket sized hands, so maybe not the right move, nonetheless a move that many would make.
Thought it would be a close game. Fair play to Tranmere.
Still top and going the right way.

Hoofball like our winner against you in December 2016?
Well done though tonight you took your chance and we wasted plenty, we've been doing a bit lately.
On to Saturday and we're still top so won't worry too much

Still don't think we've clicked properly hence all the missed chances, sort that out could be fun!

I think that's a valid point, personally I think it was that we didn't convert the chances in either half to be honest. Going 5 in midfield did stop us having as much control, but if you don't take your chances it only takes one up the other end.

Recommend ifollow - give me that game over the Champions League any day.

As on Saturday, we looked like a different team when we had an extra man in midfield; Harvey Gilmour was superb in the second half. The 433/451 suits our passing game much more than 442 and Norwood is still a threat as a lone striker, because he is so good. I think we should sideline Stockton and start with that formation against the better teams.

In the first half we were dominated physically by Lincoln, who have the best group of players I have seen at this level so far. I cant't see any way they won't be promoted, unless something dramatic happens.

I was particularly pleased that Macca put in a man of the match performance to nullify Akinde, after all the pre-match jibes directed at him. He was like a one-man back four in the first half.

Paid the tenner to watch the game on ifollow as unable to get to Tranmere midweek. Great picture after hearing all the horror stories!

We absolutely bossed the first half - best 45 minutes I've seen for a while. We sprayed it round, our midfield were on top and Tranmere had no answer. They just about hung on till half time.

Tranmere were a completely different team 2nd half - half time sub changed it, gave them the extra player in the middle and we didn't adapt. We then changed and smashed the ball up to Rhead but McNulty happy to deal with that all day long.

Andrade immense first half, but couldn't get going 2nd half.

Well done Tranmere - if only we managed to score first half, I'm pretty sure we'd have gone on to claim the 3 points.

Also, very stupid of Norwood to get sent off. When you're on a yellow already, clearly offside and decide to shoot way after being flagged offside, ref had no choice but to send off.
