Ridiculous signing to go and nab a League One captain.

£200k for a 31-year-old to play Non-League football? This Wrexham thing is turning very much into 2017 Eastleigh.

200k the rumoured fee more then I would of paided for him but we haven't spent anywhere near what we've made this summer alone from season tickets. Sponsors and shirts, gin etc.

Hopefully gets done in time to play at Eastleigh
Another CM and a RWB to cover RHJ injury and I think we'll be done

That's only what Cheltenham are briefing they've got for him, we know how much they love talking to the media.

200k on Tozer. 150k on Hayden. 65k on Jones

We've sold over 4000 shirts so far average price of £40, Hayden paided for. 6000 Season tickets over 1million made. Add the sponsors, tik tok alone was supposedly between 1-2 million. Fee's from Disney for the documentary.

For our level yes we've spent a lot but so have Chesterfield and Stockport. Realistically we have barely scratched the surface of what we've made in less then the last 4 months

It's initial investment to get the project off the ground.

What others don't seem to be getting is that this is all sustainable for us, we are not being bankrolled.

R+R have done/are doing exactly what they outlined, they have used their profile to boost the profile of the club, brought in massive revenue streams and reinvested it into the club.

Joking aside, I’ve got no issue with clubs spending dollar, but I’m not having ‘we are not being bankrolled’.

We aren't so long as the likes of TikTok and Expedia stay as sponsors when R&R leave, which is highly doubtful really.

In terms of their own money I doubt they've put much in beyond the £2m initial investment required to buy the club. So you could say it isn't being bankrolled but we only get that sponsorship money because of the owners. So erm......I dunno really.

Bankrolling Verdict = GREY AREA.

Can't say you're not being bankrolled... I get in literate terms it's not in black and white out of R&R's pocket yet however, without them you wouldn't of had the sponsors of TikTok, no documentary nor the sudden influx of Season Ticket sales.

I wish Wrexham all the best as they belong back in the league as they are a proper club. If it was Grimsby would I be enjoying every second of it? Yes, too right I would. Just hope it's a sustainable model for you boys when they both get bored.

Yeah come on lads, I mean it's allowed of course but it's a bankrolling, signing a League 1 captain and then League 2's top scorer, the signing of Henry Lemon with glass ankles from Southend was just a smokescreen to throw us off the scent as you engineered the OIL MONEY MOVES behind the scenes.

You might as well say Man City aren’t being bankrolled because actually they’re sponsored by Etihad.

Pretry much every team in this league are bankrolled to some degree.

Weve had years of squirreling away any money we made for a rainy day and spending half what other teams of our size have been spending on wages. We are spending a fair amount this year obviously, but we clearly aren't exceeding what we have already brought in this year.

If the owners leave we won't spend as much, but the plan is that by that point we will be in the League and subject to solidarity money, have a functioning academy, greater commercial oncome and modernised stadium with greater corporate income.

So I don't care a great deal.

Fair points,

I disagree with the term bankrolled as when all is said and done we are spending money that we have brought in rather than had put in by our owners.

However, clearly I agree that we are only in this position because of the owners.

The fact that you have Wrexham fans arguing against them being bankrolled is hilarious.

Just be lucky we’re as accepting of it as opposed to Boreham Wood or Solihoof.

Right that's it, time for a check on Notts County's annual accounts. We need to make sure they are only spending what they bring in on the gate each week.

This could see Callum 'Cal' Roberts leave the club in a Messi-esque scenario.

We made a profit of 3.9m in our first year in this league. Don’t ask me how, mind.

As an interesting aside, the owners’ holding company that eventually bought Notts was set up as Wrexham something or other. Could all have been so different!

This is a bit TLDR I know, but lets just keep this in perspective here. Twenty years ago Wrexham were a standard-issue, well run and well supported Third Division club, with ambitions of making it back to the Second Division.

They then had two successive rich businessmen buy the club:
  • the first wanted the land The Racecourse stands on, but was too thick to do nab it in a legal fashion ,
  • the second wanted the land around The Racecourse, and was clever enough to do it by giving his golfing-buddy Dean Saunders a load of money to jizz on the team, and then decide that money was "loaned", so took it all back in the form of all of the land
They are the sole reason Wrexham are down here. They are are still down here after 13 years because since the Supporters Trust took over, after wiping out historic debt, haven't spent a penny beyond what they've made through fair means (mostly coming from the pockets of the supporters).

For nearly ten years, Wrexham have been cutting their cloth accordingly, while almost every other team have been spending beyond their means. When they've got somewhere near, they've been thwarted by Lotto winners and double glazing magnates pumping money into teams with away followings which struggle to muster double figures.

The new owners are monumentally famous, which has attracted several million pounds through sponsorship deals, TV deals and season ticket sales not seen since the late seventies. There is no debt to be wiped out due to our parsimonious existence.

What exactly should they be doing with that money? Squirrel it away and keep spending £750,000 a season like the Trust had to do, signing Solihull Moors (no offence) rejects? Would that be more acceptable?

Wrexham don't need warning about what can happen when the money runs out; they've been living with that for twenty years. As it is, they're now playing catch-up on with all the good times they've been missing out on.

They're very sorry if their new owners are more famous than Barry from Barry's Carpet Warehouse, but what can they do?

If that makes Wrexham the same as Salford or Eastleigh or Crawley, or even Wigan, so be it. I don't think Wrexham fans consider it to be the case. I'm sure they'd all rather have returned to their pre-shyster league position under their own steam, but in ten years, massive floodlights, shaken buckets and fundraising race nights have proved to be not enough against the might of Fleetwood Town and Forest Fucking Green Fucking Rovers.

Are Wrexham being bankrolled? Don't care, bring it on!

I know it’s basically irrelevant, but clubs get a fraction of the cost of a replica shirt sale as actual profit.

And not forgetting the tax man takes 20% on shirts, season tickets, match tickets etc etc your £1.5m on season tickets is £300k strait to Sunak unless your Southend of course.

As Urban says, I don’t think many NL fans begrudge Wrexham really. Be different if it was BW or Solihull. It still stings to see Harrogate in the FL (doing well!) and still only getting 1800.

So what you are saying ,with all the tax we are paying now we are basically funding Chesterfield as well?

No, I know; just getting some excuses in early for when we inevitably miss out on the play-offs on goal difference and everybody falls about laughing.

We're not the spoiled kid down the road whose rich daddy buys him a bouncy castle, we're the kid on That's Life who's been swindled out of a holiday by a timeshare bandit and is being treated to a day at Camelot with Doc Cox. One for the teenagers...

Blimey, I hadn't thought of it like that.

You could just imagine the conversations after the final game of the season: "If you hadn't bought all those Paul Mullin lunchboxes, kids, Chesterfield wouldn't have been able to sign Kabongo Tshimanga, and we'd be in The League, now!"

Pretty much a third of what you made on season tickets is going on Paul Mullin's wages.
