Villa now closing in on Konsa for £12m.

Wonder if Roland will give Bowyer any of the sell-on clause :pond:
Pretty sure there isn’t any sell on clause, he took more money up front instead.

Mathias Jensen confirmed from Celta Vigo, a back up full back and I think we’ll be done, probably with a couple of departures.

Not sure if there any Hull fans about but they have signed Tom Eaves. Looked a right handful for Gillingham last season and scored a few in what I think it’s fair to say wasn’t a great side. Be interesting to see if he can make the jump, but looked like that sort of awkward to play against number 9 that can cause problems at least.

Never looked like a Championship player to me. Bit limited in what he can do and up against better players up here obviously.

Will probably go on to prove me wrong.

Seems we're not keen on doing much business, just keeping our eye out for a couple of quality loans.

Tried for Muric so I hope a new keeper is still the aim and we also missed out on Bidwell, but Earl has since said he doesn't want to go out on loan so maybe we're not actively looking for another left back.

We've got a big squad to be fair, first eleven is very good but there are a lot of unknown quantities who need a breakthrough season, Ledson, Harrop, Bodin, Stockley, Moult etc.

If Robinson goes then i'd hope we have a direct replacement in mind but as it stands i'd be happy keeping him till January and letting him go at a cut price.

Keeping people fit will be the main challenge again.

I'd have taken a punt on Eaves if we hadn't already signed Stockley.

I have my doubts on whether or not Eaves can step up, but he's more than earned the opportunity with us. 40+ goals in two seasons for a free transfer is pretty remarkable really, especially considering we're a lower half side. Seen a few bits and pieces that refer to him as a target man - he's not really. Yes he's big and strong and can hold a ball up, but he's also a poacher who gets a lot of his goals from in and around the 6 yard box. Also scores a few screamers - see his strikes from Pompey away last season, Bradford at home or Plymouth away the previous year for a few examples. Scores with both feet and his head, but surprisingly shit at penalties.

More than anything though he's a great lad with a spot on attitude. I've no doubt the Hull fans will take to him, and if not - he's always welcome back at Priestfield!

Konsa to Villa conformed, £12m rising to £18m, with a sell on

Good business by the club, £8-9m profit in a year, with hopefully more to come, and we’re arguably stronger anyway with Pinnock and Jansson coming in. And it’s paid for most of our summer incomings.

Think we’d be more bothered about losing him, but would rather keep Benrahma and Maupay at the moment

Think he’ll do really well long term but has a lot of development still to go

Where did you find the "rising to £18m" bit from? Can't seem to find that anywhere, but great news if that's the case :brill:

It’s largely based on unrealistic stuff, like full England caps, but nice extra cash if he does progress.

Konsa obviously a prospect but I don't rate Villa's business so far, I don't think they've actually improved unless this Brazillian striker turns out to be a gem, nothing to say he'll bag more than Abraham though, underwhelming record in Belgium.

Konsa and Jota wouldn't have made their team last season.

How much have they spent?

Bought El Ghazi as well, cost 9m.

Mings, Hause and El Ghazi are just keeping what they already had though, nothing to say they'll perform in the Prem.

Heaton would be solid business at £7m.

yeah I don't rate their business either. Konsa wouldn't have got into their side last season as well, Tuanzebe a far better player.

Targett is an upgrade on Taylor I suppose.

Heaton would be decent, I like Steer but never a PL goalkeeper in a million years.

I like him. He was once of the few strikers last season which genuinely caused problems of our centre back pairing:

Villa's signings so far:

Targett = £14m
Hause = £3
Konsa = £12m
Mings = £20m
El Gahzi = £9m

TOTAL = £58m (not including add-ons or signing-on fees)

This much for 3 players they had last year, meaning the only way they've 'improved' their team/squad from last season is the signing of Targett and Konsa. Crazy money if you ask me.

It’s the big issue with teams who get in a load of loan players, it may help you this season but you end up spending a lot of money next year just to keep the guys you have.

Bournemouth

Is that a guess or what you've heard?

That would be the club i'd choose for him, think he'll suit them.

Just a guess but me and Tom know someone who sees his old man about quite a bit and he said Bournemouth were interested back last year.
