£1m will be an absolute bargain.

Yup, I would be incredibly surprised if Luton spent less than 7 figures on Morrell, no way £500k. Was fantastic for us and will be a real bargain.

Is he that good at this level though? i'd say the centre of midfield has been by far the weakest part of Bristol City's squad in recent seasons and he hasn't had a sniff. I'd say £500k is about right.

Yeah I think he is goon enough for the level, Welsh international, fantastic seasons in L2 and L1,

A couple of examples: Jack Taylor went from Barnet to Peterborough for £500k as a central midfielder - National League to League One. Shandon Baptiste moved from Oxford to Brentford for over £2million after 26 games. £500k would be far too cheap.

We would’ve had a couple of instalments recently paid for James Justin and Jack Stacey (probably a few million) so it wouldn’t surprise us if that is what’s financing it. I don’t think we’d pay £1m up front either. Maybe we’ve traded some of the sell on fee for Tyreeq Bakinson who left Luton because he felt he deserved more of a chance and ironically has replaced Morrell in the team.

Playing for Wales is no marker though to be fair, there are about three Charlton players in that squad.

At nearly 24 and only one appearance at this level I wouldn't want to be paying a million for him.

The Championship can be hard to get to grips with, it's taken Ryan Ledson about 18 months to find his feet.

At £500k though he sounds like he'd be worth a punt from Luton's point of view, Bristol City seem to rate Walsh higher who plays a similar role which is why they might get a good deal.

Disagree but there you go!

Even at £1million it will prove to be a great deal. Fantastic player and seemed a great guy, wholehearted with real quality.

Doesn't sound like there will be any incomings for us.

Just trying to keep DJ, Browne, Pearson, Davies & Fisher then convince them to sign the terms offered, or else they leave on a free. Under contract, that lot are probably worth between £30m-£40m so would be a nightmare for the club if we get £0.

Alternatively you could look at it as many years of good service from the 5 of them for a combined transfer outlay of about £400k.

Joe Morrell has been confirmed. “Undisclosed” of course but no mention of it being a record fee or anything like there was with Sluga. Be very surprised if we dropped a million pound on someone straight up but probably get up to something like that with add ons etc.

Jones also confirmed he wants Osho but seems like Kioso will need to go out on loan first for it to actually happens.

Sounds like another midfield player will be leaving too which with Morrell coming in probably needs to happen. Got a feeling it will be Shinnie

EDIT: Just to add on the fee for Morrell. 200k the fee that’s been reported. Which if what the Lincoln fans say is true is....pretty good! I guess big sell on fee involved in that and maybe further instalments based on his performance.

I see Peter Kioso gone to Bolton (loan). Hope they are more competitive this season as he needs the game time and experience. Hopefully gets the chance to get forward rather than just being hemmed back all season.

If we signed Morrell for £200,000, that is the bargain on the season.
It is a really good move for Kioso - a bit green, but with great potential.
I say it again - we're putting together a really good squad now.

As Belize mentions the Dewsbury Hall rumour has seemingly picked up again. With him and Morrell surely someone has to go.

Been no rumours of it but it did cross my mind that perhaps Pelly, in the last year of his contract I think (?) might be going. I hope not but the midfield will have far to many players to keep happy if we don’t get at least 1 or 2 departures tomorrow.

We have quite a few players going out of contract next summer it appears - some important players too:
James Shea, Martin Crainie, Dan Potts, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Sonny Bradley, Matty Pearson, Andrew Shinnie, George Moncur, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, Peter Kioso, Brendan Galloway

Interesting that your Manager rates Kioso. Says he needs games and will get better ......If he does and is out of contract next summer.....I doubt he will return

Kioso will proberbly get guaranteed game time up here. Will he want to go back all be it in a better league providing you dont go down and we go up.
And will he want to go back to being second third choice.

We have another two young good prospects on loan. Goalkeeper Billy Crillan, and Tom White from Fleetwood and Blackburn. I think they may end up staying here once there contracts are run down with there parent clubs

Evatt thinks Kioso is a coup for Bolton, but in the local paper it states he is under contract until 2022
So he will go back to you unless a fee is agreed next summer

Being brutal Id say thats a lot of dead wood. Bradley and Pelly currently and Shea as back up keeper are the current aside. And all three if those could easily soon fall by the wayside, or equally step up a gear.

Bradley has really stepped up a level since covid shutdown - but could easily revert if he steps off the gas. As much as i love Pelly he has that crucial error just waiting to happen that if not cut out soon will lose him the faith of all managers at this level.

Nombe confirmed then. Not exactly a great goascoring record but looks like a decent option to have in the squad from the brief highlights I’ve seen if his with potential to improve. Like the type of signing and the logic behind it. Judging from the tweet I think we will announce 1 more which may be Dewsbury-Hall. I guess as Osho is a free agent this deadline doesn’t matter? Not sure.

Petty I know but I like in the announcement of Nombe to call them Milton Keynes rather than the official name. Cotinues our subtle thumbing of the nose to them and rustled a few!

I notice "we shouldn't be losing to teams like Luton" has been replaced by "we shouldn't be signing players from Luton" in recent days.

Some respect would be nice - at the moment, we're the 25th best team in the country...

To be fair saying stuff like that was the reason half of the non league sides disliked us :bg:feels like a very long time ago now.

half of the non league liked you because to them you are a giant club
Same mentality on this forum towards Bolton.....was Bradford last year.
