I’m probably looking at this in the wrong way in regard to Cannon. I would assume Leicester would prefer a deal where the buying club guarantees the fee right now rather than “promotion dependent.” I would probably bid up to around £8M initially with another £5M add ons including promotion.
Looks like Sheffield Utd are going to pay a fee up front, up to £13M including add ons. He’s not worth that, but you could’ve said the same when he signed for Leicester for £6M.

Cannon will guarantee Sheff Utd promotion.

Classy natural finisher, I thought he was better than Cameron Archer and still do.

It’s now being reported that we’ve agreed a deal for Michal Helik from Huddersfield
He is someone I wanted us to try and target in the summer. Stats wise he had a great last season… doesn’t seem like he’s started this season as well, but think he’d be a serviceable backup (at least) for most Championship clubs.

Emil Riis linked to Sunderland who have missed out on Tom Cannon.

We're one of several clubs linked to Jayden Danns on loan from Liverpool
Danns is another one I like a lot. A lot of interest in him.

Aye. Looks like one who could actually make it at Liverpool.

Unless Riis goes, I think we'll be done in terms of incomings.

Long term target Hayden Matthews is apparently joining. 20 year aussie international centre back apparently close to signing. We love an A league signing..

Deal for Longman has been agreed, just waiting on Hull to tie up a deal before it can be announced.

He was due for a medical at ours today but Wrexham have come in last minute and thrown a load of cash at him, so he’s going there instead. I guess we will just have to see who else becomes available late on in the window. We could do with shifting a few out before the deadline too.

There's talk that clubs are circling around Osmajic.

Bagged a goal every 127 minutes in the league this season which I'd be surprised if anyone has bettered in the Championship. Couple of assists too.

Also got another 5 goals in the cup.

Any bids should be dismissed instantly, if he keeps up this form he's worth £10m+ in the summer.

We apparently have been knocked back in our bid for Kone at Wycombe. Obviously Bloomfield worked with him before.

We have thus far not had the “aggressive” window we were promised. Makosso hasn’t been around at all and is “one for the future”, Dabo injured already and was actually signed in the summer, so our actual only January signing is Jones so far. Not exactly aggressive.

Taylor must be a horrendous trainer because baffled as to why we are trying to swap one prolific L1 striker for another without having given him a chance but that’s well trod ground now.

As things stand, heading for another terrible window - Id make that 4 in a row.

Alan Nixon saying we want Lewis O'Brien on loan but we'd have to clear some of the wage bill. He'd cost £20k a week, he's on £40k at Forest.

Also confirmed were interested in Thierry Small from Charlton after impressing against us in the cup.

Been linked with Willem Geubbels currently at St Gallen in Switzerland. He was once a hot property and sold from his first club Lyon too Monaco for €20m to replace Mbappe but never fulfilled early potential and has had long periods of injury. So fit right in there then.

If i were a striker id well avoid coming here, we create absolutely nothing from open play.

Aussie recruitment drive is still in full swing. Our 5th Aussie has joined. 20 year old Defender Hayden Matthews signs on a 4 1/2 year deal. Been tracking him for a year. Has a full international cap. Stands at 6ft 5. Fee is a record for a defender from the A league, around £1.3m ish

Joins Thomas Waddingham 19 y o striker who scored on his debut as well as Jacob Farrell - 1 appearance and has been injured ever since. Sam Silvera who boro signed from the A league and sent out to us on loan. wWe ended his loan from Middlesborough as he was nowhere near up to championship standard and Kusini Yengi who hit the ground running last season, got senior caps and goals, but cannot play more than 10 matches without being injured. Think he's probably been injured as much as he's played.

Technically and strength wise these aussies have been good, just not sure they are up to the rigours and pace of the Championship.

We are replacing our League 1 players with experienced Championship players. Seems sensible.

Luton bid £6m for Kone.

He is not worth £6m. If only we solved this problem in the summer…

That is madness. Especially so when he hasn’t done anything more than Taylor did who we just got rid of for half the price. Argument to be made for differing playstyle and “fit” for us as I’ve no idea what sort of striker he is but that’s insane.

Like i said on the match thread, full on playing side review needs to take place focusing on recruitment and the medical side. I don’t trust those currently in charge with the recruitment this window at the moment as we will be doing stuff exactly like this, throwing good money after bad

I was thinking about this as we were saying if he's worth £6m then Bishop who got 50 league one goals over two seasons must be worth double. What is worth money for a forward or winger is pace and power. Paddy Lane out scored and assisted Mason Clarke at Peterborough, yet he has stepped up way better than Lane has due to the power and pace. Kone is 21 and has that power and pace on top of the goalscoring abilty. It gives him a higher ceiling that someone like Bishop who for all his work ethic and clever hold up play etc.. hes never going to spin in behind, do a step over etc.. Not sure he's £6m, but players in league one's values are rising

We have re-signed Kal Naismith on loan from Bristol City.

He’s left footed which was needed but kind of speaks to where we are right now in terms of recruitment. Nothing “new” has worked really so let’s go back to some old faces even if those old faces haven’t really done anything since leaving.

I personally hope he’s been brought in to be a left sided CB to replace Bell and allow Doughty to play LWB. Bit what I think will happen is we will play him LB where he was never as effective.

O'Rourke saying we've had a bid rejected for Wigan's Sam Tickle. Suggests Woodman is leaving in the summer. Doubt we'll meet Wigan's asking price.

Aasgaard as well for £3m?

Seems a good player but Luton clearly at panic stations.
Whenever we have played them he’s looked a really good player. Not sure where he fits as more of a winger mind and to me our current best shape doesn’t use those.

We get quoted a lot more than players are worth imo and by and large the club haven’t gone over the odds for anyone since the promotion but such is the situation we are in we kind of have to do it now. Can’t lie I am concerned about the long term though but as Nelson says, seems the cost of L1 players is increasing rapidly
