Apparently we're going to make a third bid for Clayton Donaldson, could be as much as £800k upfront with a possibility of £1.5m if add-ons are met. That's our take it or leave it offer i'd imagine. Still think we could get better value for money abroad, £1.5m for a 31 year old whose only really done it for one season to a high enough level.

I agree, think that sort of money could be better spent on a much younger striker. Surprised nobody has gone for Tom Bradshaw at Walsall. He's young and scored a fair few in L1 for a couple of years now. He's only just signed a new deal but I think if you spent a million on him you would get a good return on him.

We were linked with Rhodes recently...

We don't need another striker contrary to Derby fans' popular belief, we already have 3, plus Sammon but we don't count Sammon.

Cropper's awful too though. Hopefully for MK Dons he doesn't get any game time.

He'll be a number two. The bar for that spot is pretty low to be honest.

Looks a unit.

We were linked with him, the rumour was rubbished by our journo, then the next day he made an absolute howler for the USA in a youth tournament. I was quite relieved

Here it is:

we've literally done nothing so far, it's important times for Cellino's promise of a great season

hope we aren't thinking an American young keeper, Sol Bamba and an unproven 6 goal SPL player are gonna push us upto the dizzy heights of 12th

Looking at Chris Woods stats, he isn't really much of a clinical goalscorer is he?

Most he's scored in a season is 11.

Think it's make or break for him wherever he goes.

Glenn Loovens signing a new 1 year deal today is fantastic news, a solid defender at this level and our captain. Can't say I know a lot about Vincent Sasso other than his careers been stalled by injury since he moved to Braga, he certainly adds some depth to the back 4 though and hopefully we can get him up to speed quickly.

Quinn is a good signing for Reading - would not have minded him at Burnley as we still need two good central midfielders.

We've pulled out of the race to sign Chris Wood. Leicester have said they wanted 3 million for him, a figure we weren't prepared to meet, although Leeds have and he is due to sign there within the next 24/48 hours. I'm glad we didn't spend that sort of money on him, but we do really need a striker and I pray to god we don't go back to Joe Mason. Personally I think we need to take a risk and look abroad for one as every English striker seems to be overpriced.

Also says a fair bit about Leeds' intent to spend 3 mill on a striker, not seen them spend that sort of money in a while.

Yeah his record isn't unbelievable but much of the time he's been a bit part player. Always quite liked him and he should fit into Rosler's strategy so I'm pleased should it be confirmed.

Biggest transfer fee since 2002 so you can appreciate how frustrating times have been when you consider how many players we have sold for big bucks since then.

Fair play seemed a class act at you before. If you offered me him I'd probably take him as he did a good job for us last season, but at the same time not too disappointed if he goes elsewhere/ stays at Wigan. Does that mean you're no longer interested in Jack Hunt? Think he'd be perfect for us as a wing back, there's been no indication of interest on our side though.

Pardew wants to have a pre season with Hunt, if he doesn't get in their side he'll end up with us or Forest on a season long loan.

Can't see us spending £1m on him after spending 600k on Tavernier.

The final outstanding contract now sorted and David Martin will continue as MK Dons first choice goalkeeper. Sighs of relief all round. I suspect that all remaining business will be via the loan system but at least we now have a half decent first 11.

Yeah good stuff. Hope he gets off to a good start to stop any idiots slagging him off as a waste of money two weeks into the season.

Some pace and width now please.

Kevin Davies hasn't been offered a deal and it seems that we're getting Steve Thompson in as a first team coach, the ex-scum coach/ caretaker.

A bit shitty by the club to keep him hanging for 5 weeks when he could have been trying to sort himself out. Good luck KD, served us well in the last 2 years and I think playing alongside him is what kick started Joe Garner's PNE career. He's easily the worst finisher i've ever seen though.

That makes it 10 players out of the door this summer.

Paul McShane having a medical at Reading today.

We wait a month for signings and could end up with 3 in 3 days!

I'm not a big Chris Wood fan, never have been. I remember watching him in the Olympics (I think it was) and be stunned by just how poor technically he was.

I think he has a hammer of a right boot on him, but he's such a clumsy footballer. Plus, for his size, well for anybodies size, he's woeful in the air and his distribution is foul.

Middlesbrough have offered £4.5m for Daryl Murphy.

By all accounts he's had one good goalscoring season in his whole career, so that figure is pure mental. I'm not surprised Ipswich are holding out, but I'm fairly sure that figure alone will just about double Darren Bent's wages over the course of his contract, and that's before you look at Murphy's wages.

People moan we've spent money, but that makes Darren Bent look like the bargain of the bleeding century.

I expect it to be turned down. Partly because it's Boro and they are one of our biggest rivals next season, would seem silly (I'd rather we took a lower bid from a Prem side than sell to them!), coupled with him not wanting to up sticks and leave. That said, it's getting close and anywhere north of £5m will be accepted without question.

Finance wise we could turn down any figure, categorically we do not need the money. Ultimately it's going to come down to how strongly Murph truly feels/felt about "not wanting to leave Suffolk".
